    Pros +

    • It’s in down town of Kyoto, many shops and restaurants around, and city bus stops nearby, easy to go to Kiyomizu Dera temple and other attractions.
    • Huge breakfast with lots of selection. This was a nice way to start off a busy day of exploring Kyoto.
    • The room was really nice but the true highlight was the location. It is a 2-3 minute walk to both Pontocho Alley, Nishiki markets and the best Karaoke place in Kyoto. Great value for the prime location.

    Cons -

    • The location is very central but this area stayed pretty loud until late at night.
    • Our room was by the main street and it was quite loud at all hours of the day and night due to the Super Jankara across the street.
    • Since the hotel is located in the crowded area, the noises of people and vehicles are heard at night which is really difficult for babies/children to sleep. Also, there were no near by parking area available on that day so we had to park our vehicle somewhere far away from the hotel. Also, the vehicles cannot to stoped in front of the hotel for a few minutes even to unload the baggages.

The hotel is very clean and the staff is also nice. The breakfast buffet also fine for both adults and children. The location is convenient to access the main attractions in Kyoto.

Good walking distance to train stations, and a nice location in general for being really close to major shopping spots and it's also REALLY close to a Donki. Getting to and from the hotel can be a bit busy because there's a lot of people on the sidewalks and it's near an intersection, so when people pile up at the corner you might have to squeeze your way through. But that's a worthwhile trade-off for being in a very good central downtown spot. Breakfast buffet was cool, they had a mix of Japanese options and typical western choices like pancakes etc. The rooms we stayed in were really nice and had a great mix of traditional and modern Japanese vibes. It was spacious enough we could open our carry-ons comfortably out on the floor. Another plus that the toilet, shower, and sink were all separate and not combined into a single tiny space. Of all the hotels we stayed in for our trip to Japan, this was technically one of the pricier ones but also by far the nicest. The front desk staff were super helpful with facilitating luggage storage and delivery to/from Tokyo.

Room was thoughtfully designed and it was bigger than our other hotel trials. It was so useful and the facilities was great. Excellent breakfast with an additional fee.

Great hotel located in the center of Kyoto so close to everything we wanted to see including Pontocho Alley and Nishiki Market. We could also take the metro easily to the bamboo forest and shrines. The room was nice and comfortable, love the view and the bed next to the window. We slept great with the blackout window coverings and AC. They also provided clean towels and free water each day even if you didn’t want/need them to clean your room. WiFi was good as well. They had laundry machine that you could use coins to pay for. They also held our luggage for free on our checkout day.

The guestroom and bathroom are on the smaller end but we expected that.

    Perfect location

We had a room in the front and it was so noisy on Friday evening that we didn't sleep at all. Police sirens continuously, screaming people and motorcycles were so loud that even my noise cancelling headphones didn't work. In the morning we asked if we could be moved to another room on the back, but according to the reception staff there was no place at all, although we saw many people checking out that day. So not really helpful and we just had to deal with it. The next two nights it was a bit better, but for a hotel with this price and ratings I expected much better

This was a great place to stay. In a bustling area that was relatively close to transit and popular sites. The room was great as well and well maintained. Enough space for two people and our luggage. They had lots of thoughtful amenities as well, anti-fog mirror, two pillows per person, handheld mirror in the room, and extra hooks. The breakfast was great too, good mix of Japanese and Western. The view from the room was lovely too (historical looking building and a graveyard).

The bed was pretty hard (as it was in all places we stayed in Japan, so I doubt you'd find anything different).

I love the location and service of this hotel. The Breakfast was great! I love the presentation, the service and selection. Simple yet satisfying. The location of the hotel is very convenient to shopping and a lot of activities around the area.

None I could think of. Oh wait. the noise of the cars or motorcycles outside the hotel. Younger crowd partying.

    Breakfast was very good

Room was a bit too warm/ stuffy.Bathroom was tiny even by Japan's standards

    Location

We couldn't sleep because of the noise coming from the street even though we were on the top floor of the hotel.

    7JanellePosted on: 4-26-2025

Location was great. Comfy beds and close to a subway station

    9CorrinePosted on: 4-25-2025

The hotel is smack dab in the middle of a major shopping area, so there is plenty to see, shop, and eat just a walk away from your doorstep. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially when helping us set up our luggage transfer. The breakfast buffet was good, including some local options, but also covered Western options as well. The rooms are a great size, the biggest we had during this trip in Japan; very easy to take luggage out to pack souvenirs and clothes. Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station was just down the road, with Sanjo Station not too far away, about 10 minutes. Bus stops were pretty close by as well.

The beds are quite firm, which could be good for some, but was not comfortable for myself.

The location, cleanliness and friendly staff.

The ceiling lights are not adhustable and it is quite bright.
