    Pros +

    • We can communicate in English relatively smooth in a traditional Japanese hotel. There?s laundry that works very quietly and a freezer which is very convenient for my kids.
    • Every detail was perfect. The hotel feels modern and cozy. The staff was friendly and made sure we had what we needed. The lobby has free snacks and beverages which was nice to be able to enjoy while hanging out in the lobby space.
    • Absolutely perfect location for exploring Kyoto. Not too busy or chaotic, a quieter street, but very walkable to the train station, Nishiki Market, and great restaurants and shops. Beautiful hotel and room; very peaceful. Staff was very friendly and helpful; made luggage forwarding very simple.

    Cons -

    • More power outlets and better wifi will be great. I think they are expecting the visitors to spend less time online but we do need good internet to plan our days and communicate with our family back home.
    • There really wasn’t much we didn’t enjoy about our experience. The hotel room is small but this is typical for Japan. We had everything we needed and were sad to leave when the time came. That was all!
    • As expected, the room we booked was pretty small. Made navigating with two pieces of large luggage and one small a bit challenging but again, that's par for the course. Also, typical for Japan but the dryer was challenging, need to input an extremely small load in order for things to actually dry in one or two cycles. Less a knock on the hotel and more of an FYI for travelers accustomed to a Western-style dryer.

The location was fantastic. It’s central enough near main town but situated in a peaceful area around cool boutiques and restaurants

    Location. Design. Washer / dryer.

Too bad that Nol doesn’t have Nespresso coffee makers in the rooms, as many hotels now do.

The rooms are clean, minimalist, japanese style, with all the amenites you need. Beds are super comfortable. Everything was incredible. THe location is perfect, it is in a quiet street but at thr same time it is so close and within walking distance to many places, restaurants, shops! Also the ataff was very nice. I can’t recommed this hotel enough!!! The best hotel of our trip

There is nothing that we didn’t like. Everything was amazing

Great location - friendly staff - beautiful room with all amenities - comfortable beds - daily sake tasting

    nothing, really

Check in was very easy and there's even a sort of "Welcome Time" where there are free snacks, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages for patrons in the lobby. The room was very modern and spacious. Wasn't expecting a small refrigerator with separate freezer door and a hot plate so that if you wanted to cook something you could. There's even a washing machine and detergent is provided but we did not use it on our trip.

Toilet paper isn't very good but that's the case throughout Japan. And the window is covered in an opaque film but that's because the building next door isn't much to look at and maintains our privacy. Two very minor things.

The location, quiet street and being central to make things in Kyoto.

The washer/dryer was not working properly.

    8VincentPosted on: 11-22-2025

Really fantastic location and "cool" Japanese boutique hotel experience. Our superior room was spacious, aesthetically pleasing, and the washer/dryer in the room was vital as a halfway point to our trip. Really great location close to popular tourist spots and free drinks in the lobby was very nice to have after a long day of exploring the city.

A big selling point of the room is the Japanese cedar wood bathtub. They keep still water in it to prevent the wood from cracking and we discovered hair in the water upon checking in. Wife didn't want to use the tub at all after that.

The location was great, really central and convenient, and the overall vibe of the property was stylish and modern.

The cleanliness didn’t live up to expectations for the price. There were noticeable stains on the furniture and carpet, and what appeared to be bodily fluids on the bed frame between the two beds. For the cost of the stay, we expected a higher standard of cleaning and maintenance. The room also lacked natural light, with a frosted window facing another building, which made it feel quite closed in.

    7LangePosted on: 11-6-2025

No breakfast available. Sake available in the evening.

No windows that we could see out, this was a problem for my travel companion. Desk/reception had issues understanding our requests due to language difficulties.

This hotel was immaculate. The room was huge and worth every dollar spent. The hinoki bathtub was beautiful and the vibes of the hotel was amazing. It was also super close to iconic Kyoto sites including Nishiki Market, etc.

We felt in Air BNB not in hotel.Half of the day no one was in the lobby, for this price that we payed we expected to get at least feeling we are in proper hotel but we just felt we booked hostel or air BNB .The stuff was nice and they have this small lobby with free sake and candies but thats all.The locaion was good

The rooms were very large, great location and friendly and helpful staff.

    8PurinPosted on: 8-15-2025

    Staff, the location the facilities

If the room have a window where we can look through it might make the rooms feel bigger. The pillow is not as comfortable. Single pillow then it is too low. stack pillow then it is too high

We loved this boutique hotel!! It was near markets, food, and places to grab a cocktail! We felt safe walking everywhere and enjoyed the free sake and snacks in the afternoon daily. The staff was very kind and accommodating! You won't go wrong staying here!! Excellent air conditioning and we loved having a washer and dryer! It helped so much!! We know You will love it too!

Everything! Location, customer service and the room. The morning and evening drinks in the lounge was a plus.

    There wasn't anything I didn't like.

    10CaryPosted on: 6-19-2025

Lovely room! Comfortable beds. Great to have washer dryer and kitchenette.

Hotel lobby could be a bit more tasteful with a Japanese aesthetic to match the stunning courtyard. Pillows in indigo? We missed not having some Breakfast option in the hotel.
