Beautiful hotel in quiet location, traditional machiya

It is a really nice place to experience life in a historic neighborhood. Nicely and properly equipped and still has ambience of an old house

If you do not want to prepare your breakfast, there are just a few places around and they a re not cheap at all. The best option we used was a breakfast buffet at Double Tree hotel for 3800 yen

The location was so convenient to getting around the city. The room was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our stay so much!

The MACHIYA we stayed at was uniquely atmospheric and an immersive experience. The layout was spacious and cozy at the same time. The garden view we had was indeed a gem and beautiful. The neighborhood was calm and quiet, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Staff was incredibly welcoming and polite. Check in and checking out was very smooth and easy.

We stayed on the 1st floor, so sometimes noises could be easily heard from the neighbors upstairs. However, this is only a minimal detail. Still amazing overall. (:

Very nice location, very quiet and rooms were very good.

Check in was different having to go to another location, but it was easy to reach from the main station.

Check-in process. Not information prior to booking that check-in was located 25mn away from the hotel. Had to take a taxi.

check in is ridiculous ,had to taxi to another part of the city just to check in and pick up key,,no one at property to help with problems,

- Overall great stay and value- Check-in location and luggage storage are at a different location than the hotel, but this was communicated prior to check-in and hotel offered convenient free luggage transfer.- Beautiful, clean, and spacious room with modern amenities but traditional decor - Quiet neighborhood but still walking distance to many attractions in Gion/Higashiyama

Room located close to the entrance of of the building, so can be a bit noisy when other guests enter. Otherwise, the neighborhood is relatively quiet.

Excellent, picturesque location and only a short distance away from Kiyomizudera and Ginza. The supplied slippers and yukata completed an already excellent experience.

Location, smaller streets, and local vibe away from tourist locations,, culture, and hospitality. Great. Good value.

It wasn’t a Rokyan

It was delightful to stay in a machiya style house/room, beautifully decorated with all the commodities.But on the other hand, we had issues every morning with the noise from the street, sometimes making it hard to sleep…

We were looking for traditional japanese room, and we got it, so we liked it very much.

Lack of hooks and hangers for coats at the entrance and in bathroom for towels.

Very easy check in experience with friendly and helpful staff. Gorgeous traditional Japanese room with comfy futons and cosy atmosphere. Great location and great value for money. Would stay again if I was ever back in Kyoto!

They didn’t replenish the coffee in room.

One of our favourite places we’ve ever stayed. The property is beautifully designed (we stayed in the garden suite), which was spacious but still so cosy. The only downside was that we wished we stayed longer!

Incredible customer service, truly above and beyond (Special mention to Ko who made us feel like VIPs) Seamless check in/out experience with top notch luggage courier service which made our whole experience super smooth. We were travelling on our honeymoon and were touched to find a box of chocolates waiting for us upon arrival in our Machiya. The Suite was even better than pictured and we only wish we could've stayed even longer to really indulge. Really lovely quiet residential location! Staff also went to lengths to help us when we had to make a complaint about a particularly disruptive guest in the room above us.

Personally felt the bath water could've been hotter but other than that, really couldn't fault anything with our suite.

A traditional Japanese house converted into a small hotel. I really enjoyed the room. The location was also excellent, very close to some of Kyoto’s main attractions, such as the Kiyomizu-dera temple, the Yasada pagoda and the Higashiyama district. Within walking distance from downtown Kyoto.

We loved how beautiful the home was along with the location on a quiet street but close to so much of what we wanted to visit. The check in process was great since we came into Kyoto station and were able to drop off our bags to be delivered for free.

It was located in a quiet area near everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable and a really peaceful feeling. The staff was extremely responsive and helped us out with a special need that arose unexpectedly. They were really wonderful. Would definitely recommend.
