    Pros +

    • Location, lobby room with microwave, staff, cleanliness and restaurant
    • I loved how the property is right on a shopping street. I also enjoyed how we got fresh towels everyday. Staff was very kind and always greeted you when leaving or returning to the hotel. They were also very helpful when it came to luggage forwarding.
    • Location, architecture

    Cons -

    • However, the streets were quite dirty and crowded. We expected the hotel to be located in a quieter area. The hotel room was also extremely small. We had two check-in bags and a carry on, and it was a struggle entering and exiting the room. There really wasn’t any space to open up luggage. The bathroom was also extremely small. There’s only thin shelf to place belongings and the bathtub didn’t even fit one person. I had to bend my legs to fit into the tub which isn’t very relaxing. It was also far from a subway station.
    • I believe the staff working at this hotel lack practical thinking skills. They were not helpful in any matter. For example, I called the reception from the 10th floor to ask for information about massage services, and they told me to come downstairs. I asked water, they said no:) And there were many other similar issues.
    • Breakfast was lacking

The staff were friendly and accommodating. They was an event that we attended, that a maiko performed in the lobby.

    Location, bed, shower.

    Breakfast was lacking

    10VictorPosted on: 1-19-2026

The hotel was serene, and the room was small but comfortable. We loved the amenities provided including the range of skin care products and relaxing guest lounge with free coffee. A particular mention has to go to the cultural performances and sessions arranged by the hotel and free for guests, we saw a taiko and shakuhachi performance and a maiko (apprentice Geisha) dance.

Great location (close to a lot of sights, transit, restaurants and shopping), staff were friendly and rooms were small but very nice and comfortable, afternoon events were a nice addition. Favorite hotel we stayed in during our Japan trip.

    Nothing - everything was great.

    9RichardPosted on: 1-19-2026

Location was great, room and aesthetics were wonderful.

Space was a bit cramped for two people.

    10StefanPosted on: 1-18-2026

The location is absolutely fantastic with restaurants, bars, markets, the riverside, and attractions a close walk away. Further, train stations, bus stops, and major roads are equally only a short walk away, making the hotel easily accessible from the airport, Kyoto station, temples etc. The rooms are very comfortable and well-maintained, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast which is served in an Italian restaurant downstairs is fantastic!! It was my second stay and I would definitely stay there again.

There was absolutely no flexibility regarding early check-in or late check-out. However, there is a lounge with comfortable seating and a free coffee machine for guests to wait until their check-in time or whenever they feel like a rest with coffee during their stay.

Great location and very competent staff with stylish and practical rooms. While I did not participate, I noticed they provide various events for people staying at the hotel, which I thought was nice.

I prefer fresh hotel rooms, so I don't love that they don't clean them every night, but I understand that this is standard in the industry in this day and age.

The staff were really friendly! The location was great! Lots of bus stops directly in front a long with proximity to train/metro system. Huge plus- the Uniqlo directly in front ;). Also loved the access to toiletries in the reception area.

The bathroom was a little dirty and the shower curtain had a stain. I would have also liked a little more updates as a guest on events happening at the hotel (lobby).

Location, facilities, kindly staff, excellent service!

Breakfast, but its me, not the restaurant hehe

    Location and cleanliness.

Very noisy. Needed eye plugs to get a full nights sleep.

    10WhitneyPosted on: 1-2-2026

Easy property to navigate. Even though there is not much natural beauty surrounding the property- the walkway makes it feel separate from the Main Street and like your own little oasis!

    9stevraoPosted on: 12-24-2025

Great location and cosy rooms, nice room amenities downstairs, great staff.

    10CelestePosted on: 12-21-2025

This hotel is right next to a very lively shopping street to one side and a couple blocks away from Pontocho Alley and Gion with plenty of bus stations nearby and close to the Sanjo metro station. It is still very private and comfortable despite its central location. The staff were always very attentive and helped us when we needed it. They offer cultural shows/activities everyday, we had a chance to see a Maiko dance and that was lovely.

Everything was really good but the one thing I can note (if I’m very nit-picky) is that the hand dryer in the bathroom’s lobby could use some cleaning, but aside from that everything was perfect.

The location of the property is really good

Rooms are really tiny. I mean really small and not sound proof.

    10BestePosted on: 12-11-2025

Location was great! Rooms were very enough for us and it's good that they have smth like a lounge room - to get coffee or tea. Daily towel change was also a big plus.
