Rinn Kiyomizu Gion

It is walking distance to many attractions.

The hotel is very small and it is very easy to hear outside or neighbors noises from your room.

Staff was amazing. Everyone was incredibly helpful, even through language differences. Everyone was friendly, and when I had an issue with my luggage transport to another hotel the receptionist sat with me and helped me figure out the issue until it was solved, including helping me call a new hotel and booking a new reservation. Thank you!! Location was perfect - close proximity to many of the temples and shrines I wanted to visit, including Kiyomizu-Dera, Yasaka, and Kodai-Ji. It was also near the bus stop, and the area around the hotel was very peaceful and lovely to walk around, especially at night. Walking to the river (which took about 5 minutes) was a highlight of my nights. Overall I had an amazing stay and would highly recommend.

Clean aesthetics of the place. The moment you step into the property, you feel you are in a safe and warm space, which was nice for cold Kyoto evenings. Filtered water dispenser is available for use just outside the room. Very basic rooms but quality finishes and clean.

The heating was quiet tricky to use. Both my parens’ and our room got cold towards the morning and woke us up.

Amenities could be improved

Location good, near but not on the river and close to Gion, a tourist attraction. Clean. Inexpensive room rate. This hotel okay for Travellers on a tight budget,

No amenities at all. Just a tiny, bare room.with no view. Unless, you are on tight budget, there are much better options

Warm service, great entryway, nice to have a table, the location.

Water seemed to leak from shower onto floor no matter how we positioned the shower head. Placement of towel rack in the bathroom is awkward.

The room was very clean and private. The location was perfect; it's close to the train, good food options, and cultural sites. Also the staff is very accommodating and helpful.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was easy to find and was very close to a lot of very popular sites. However, it was not crowded near the actual hotel.

Television didnt work very well. But we didnt mind as we never really used it.

The hospitality, clean rooms with amenities and location is really good

Water cooler is present on the ground floor and we have to fill water ourselves so everytime we have to go all the way to the ground floor. Water coolers can be placed on all the floors .

Overall this was a great hotel. Street noise was pretty minimal. Room size felt pretty reasonable for Japan standards. Service was incredible!

There was a weird smell upon entering my room and after opening the window and turning on the air it went away. I alerted the staff and they also provided a spray to eliminate the odor. My two biggest qualms were that (a) the light from the streets comes through window shades at night. I think this might be common for japan, but I did wear my eye mask, so was ultimately fine. (B) didn’t have a great view. Faced the street and the way it was designed didn’t allow for a lot of natural light to come in. I liked being in Gion neighborhood, given this was my first time in Tokyo, but I found that I enjoyed other neighborhoods more that were away from all the tourists.

Close walk to everything. Quiet and beautiful design. Lovely staff. Very clean and nicely stocked. Nespresso machine in room :)

Tv was a slight challenge to set up to streaming apps

Hi. If you travel with kids, they are extremely tight with their rules with no exceptions at all. We have a 5 and 9 yr old. Due to the handicap of the oldest, he still sleeps in our bed. So for us there was no difference in having 2 times a 5yr old. We booked as such, but when checking the passports they refused to gives us a room and refused any reimbursement. After a lot of phone calls, they did find us a room in another hotel they owned, with extra payment. We did not have a lot of choices. The other hotel was nice, just did not like the way we were treated in the first place.

The property was always spotless and clean. It is beautiful from the outside and it fits perfectly into the Kyoto style. It's also in the best location, minutes away from Kiyomizu-Dera, Takashimaya and the Gion district. The staff were so kind and friendly which was really the highlight of our stay! Truly an underrated stay.

The location is amazing, nearby main attractions and several good restaurants and cafes. The staff was super nice. We were received by Yuma, who was beyond nice and explained everything. The property smells amazing, lighting and amenities are super nice. Minimalistic and chic. I wish to come back soon.

Rinn Kiyomizu Gion is a great hotel to base yourself for your days out and about in Kyoto. It is located within walking distance of not only the sights of Gion (including the old backstreets and lanes of what was old Kyoto and the main Geisha district) but is at the bottom of the street of both Sannenzaka (amazing narrow cobbled streets reminiscent of old Kyoto with lots of food and souvenirs) and the Kiyomizu-dera shrine complex (one of the most popular in Kyoto).The hotel is clean, contemporary and Japan-style-compact but with all of the amenities you want when travelling, especially a super comfy bed! Staff were friendly and super helpful. Highly recomended.

Nothing of importance - maybe a few USB ports for phone charging

We loved the sweet Honey moon message on our bed! They left a sheet of activities on the table for us to try! We loved the location and the room was big enough for us to get around and pull out our luggage!

There was a slight smell of mildew from the ac. We noticed a little bit of mold in it. The fridge was located behind the closet door and smelled bad when we would open.

The hotel is well mantained and clean. The staff is very kind and helpful. The position is good if you want to be close to the main tourist attractions.

We spent 4 nights in this hotel and we had the impression that the room was a bit small and there was not enough storage space.
