    • I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. From check in to check out, all went smoothly, kudos to hotel employee for helping us and answering all our questions in a friendly and courteous manner. IMO this was the best hotel I had during my entire trip to Japan
    • Location, room size and value
    • Clean, good area, great staff. There was a traditional Japanese touch to this house even though it was modern. Loved the tea table.

    Cons -

    • All good.
    • Only had one big plate and two small plates for meal. Was missing appropriate spatula for nonstick plan but quickly provided by staff with no bother. No oil, salt or pepper but got salted butter and that worked great.
    • The workers were drinking and talking/laughing late and were loud and we could hear them most of the night.

I loved having a spacious place for our base in Kyoto! Fantastic locations close to subway and busses, fantastic restaurants all over! Great neighborhood and great and friendly bartender below.

love the laundry after traveling over a week. Very tidy and clean room. The neighborhood is filled with restaurants

Excellent location near great restaurants, neighborhoods, attractions, and public transportation. Check-in is in a nearby location - the process was effective and the staff very helpful in explaining things and getting us and our luggage to the room.

Loved this boutique hotel for the kitchen to make simple meal and east facing balcony for breakfast. Great mid-trip stay as laundry machine and drying rack which is best for traveling light and compact around Japan. The beds were spacious and nice tatami floor. Perfect location across river from Gion so easy access to restaurants and steps away from river path which my partner used for running in early AM. Bus stop only two minutes away but train line more like 10 min walk-not a problem because nice walk near river and pretty streets.

Only had one big plate and two small plates for meal. Was missing appropriate spatula for nonstick plan but quickly provided by staff with no bother. No oil, salt or pepper but got salted butter and that worked great.

The room was clean and comfortable, the location was quiet, and it had a mountain view! I was easily able to get a good night of sleep. The kitchen was small but convenient for preparing snacks. There were a couple train stations, a bunch of cute shops, places to get food, and the river within walking distance! The staff was very friendly and spoke English (I can speak Japanese so that's not essential for me but it's useful to know if you don't speak Japanese but you do speak English and you're nervous about communication with hotel staff in Japan). The elevator was a bit shabby and some of the wallpaper was a bit stained; that doesn't bother me since it was still clean and didn't smell bad or bother my allergies or anything, but it might bother other people?

I liked how close the location was to all the attractions, it was very quiet, and the views were immaculate. The Japanese style made you feel like you were experiencing the culture. Brought back soo many good memories. Also, like how the management communicated how to check in and out.

Excellent location, quiet, staff was very helpful, room was spacious and beautiful

Loved our balcony, and the how spacious and traditional looking the rooms were. Loved the drinks at the bar down stairs.

The workers were drinking and talking/laughing late and were loud and we could hear them most of the night.

So charming, and spacious for a Kyoto location. Loved the quiet and quaint street away from busy boulevards. Walkable to train, bus, and several tourist locations. Quiet, open-air bar downstairs was very welcoming and perfect after a long day of traveling. Staff helpful and friendly.

Staff and check in at another property that was a short walk. Inconvenient for luggage delivery and when needing assistance. It's the only reason I didn't give a 10.

Spacious room, full facilities and excellent location. We got a 2-year-old so she got lots of space to run and play even though we have luggage and bought lots of stuff. Location is excellent, within walking distance to the Kyoto Kawaramachi downtown

Comfortable, spacious apartment in a great area. Nice balcony to sit on.

This is a very spacious accommodation and very comfortable. This is like a small little guest house, not a hotel. Only about 7 rooms with no reception. You check in down the road to get the key. Great for independent travellers, but if you are someone who likes to have staff available to ask questions and aid in trip planning, this is not your place. Just off the canal. A hike to train stations but buses are very close. Room has a washing machine for clothes which was great as we had already been on the road for 7 weeks.

Only shoji screens on windows so lots of light coming in early in the morning. Light goes on automatically in the toilet room which is unpleasant in the middle of the night.

    8FrancescoPosted on: 4-9-2025

Good location, big room for local standards with all that is needed for a short stay.

The reception for check in is not in the same building (although not far away)

    10DanielePosted on: 4-9-2025

Room in Japanese style (floor, sand walls, ecc.), a really wonderful experience in Japanese style for me and my girlfriend. The space was a lot, the bathroom with the tub was beautifull. We couldn't choose a better place where to stay for a 6 days visit to Kyoto. The position is very well served by public transportation, both bus and railway/metro or simply to go for a walk. Safe and quiet zone, close to a canal full of cherry trees, that during the cherry blossom season becomes surreal.

We had a very comfortable stay in this hotel. I only have good things to say - spacious, clean, mix of modern and traditional design. There is a balcony but it was too cold to hang out there during our stay. There is a washing machine and a microwave which were very useful, I was able to do some laundry. It is a bit of a walk from downtown area/train station (probably 15mins) but I didn't mind, I loved walking through old style houses and the river with the cherry blossoms in sight. Recommended and I would stay here again.

Would highly recommend My K House for those visiting Kyoto. It's in the southern part of the city which is arguably the most lively, close to the river and canals and lots of bars and restaurants. The room itself was bigger than expected and the design was like that of a traditional ryokan but with really comfy beds. We'd definitely stay here again!

Spacious. Friendly staff. Good location. Modern.
