Pros +
- Honestly, the location is amazing. You can walk to the main shopping/downtown area, and by crossing a bridge you can reach Gion and Kiyomizu-dera. The walk itself is nice too, lots of small restaurants and little bars along the way. There’s also a bus stop right in front of the hotel, so getting to Kyoto Station and Kawaramachi is super easy. The room and bathroom were both really spacious, and this was hands down the most comfortable hotel we stayed in during our trip. Free breakfast was included, nothing fancy but it was good and enough to start the day. The front desk staff were also very polite and helpful.
- This was our first visit to Japan. We stayed in three different hotels. All were terrific --- clean, exquisitely friendly and polite, helpful. Maybe all hotels in Japan are like that?
- Was like 9 min walking from the train station, and 10 min by taxi from Kyoto, good location.
Cons -
- The laundry room only has two washing machines, and they were always in use, so we didn’t get a chance to use them. We stayed for four nights, and besides changing fresh towels and roughly making the bed, the floors in the room and bathroom were not cleaned at all.
- Could have a better breakfast but not bad

The lobby and room look much smaller than what it was in the picture. Breakfast provides limited varieties. Guests didn’t have an option to opt out.
Location
Fantastic staff! The place is clean and comfortable.
Perhaps get rid of the all-in-one washer/dryer and replace with individual washers and dryers. The all-one does does dry the clothes well at all even after more than 2 hours ☹️
This hotel was an excellent choice for our trip! I would absolutely stay there again if given the chance. It was a smaller hotel, and definitely wasn't as "refined" as my other stays but was more endearing. The front staff were outstanding and the rooms were very spacious especially considering the price. The breakfast is VERY basic, but is just enough for a morning snack. I also appreciated the proximity to local activities. The shower is also quite nice, featuring a more traditional approach.
The hotel wasn't perfectly clean, not unclean by any standard but some miniscule nitpicks. The view from our room was mediocre, but not many buildings in Kyoto are tall enough for that anyways. The TV in our room was in a very strange spot. It's possible they believed that people would watch sitting in the chairs instead of lying in bed, but I would prefer them to be at the foot of the bed.
Staff very friendly! Location quiet and near a lot of resultants and the markets near bus routes within 5 min walking distance
very helpful and friendly staff. very good location.
space is sort of small.
We are a family of 4 (with 2 boys age 8 and 12). We got the Grand Twin Room with River View. We love that there was plenty of space for our 4 large luggage. The toilet and bathroom space was great too and fancy jet shower and bath-tub available. They provided skincare too which was lovely and smelled good. Reception also provided simple free breakfast between 6:30-9am of croissants/pastry with jam/cheese. Coffee and juices all day long. There's a microwave on the same floor near coin operated laundry room. Staffs are very friendly and helpful, spoke English very well.
The free pastries and cheeses in the morning, The staff were very welcoming and gave a memento for our honeymoon in the room. The location was nice by the river with a slight view of the mountains and close to metro stations. 2 windows gave a lot of light into the room. Easy to connect to Netflix. Close to some local restaurants and short walk to Gion district and main strip without being in a noisy location.
The windows steamed up every morningThe bathroom had little to no ventilationThe coffee machine in the breakfast area needs to be updated.
Clean, friendly staff and more spacious than expected
Breakfast was just bread and jelly and 1 type of cheese
We really love the traveltine hotel. Clean modern & comfortable, best location to suits our need, very close to all shops & restaurants. All the staff are friendly & helpful
Great location, just a short walk to food, temples, stations, Kamo River. Clean, modern, spacious room with great view. Fresh water bottles with each room service. Convenient space for tea/coffee on the second floor.
Breakfast food (e.g. croissants) was only "OK" but could be better. Bakeries and even convenience stores nearby were such a massive upgrade taste-wise that we rarely used breakfast for anything beyond tea/coffee/yoghurt. Maybe hotel should collaborate with one of the bakeries?
The location was excellent. The room was spacious, and the staff was absolutely delightful.
A lovely hotel not far from the bus and train stations. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly.
The rooms are very spacious and clean, the bathroom we had was quite large. The staff were super kind and friendly, plus the complimentary bread, yogurt and drinks for breakfast was a plus. It was within walking distance to Gion and several scenic areas. I would come here again.
Nothing bad to say, it was lovely.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room and hotel facilities were very clean. Our room was cleaned and we got fresh towels every day. The room was small, which I expected, but was still a great value for the money given the excellent location. It is just across the street from a bus stop with several bus lines. It is also walkable to many tourist attractions, including the samurai district and geisha district. Highly recommend.
Everything was great.
Location is great, staff are really friendly, and room is clean
The breakfast is light and simple (only bread, yogurt, and corn soup).
If I came Kyoto 100 times, I would choose to stay here every single time. The hotel feels calm and thoughtfully designed — impeccably clean, quietly elegant, and perfectly located within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to be. From the reception, the view of the ginkgo trees adds a subtle beauty that stays with you. The availability of coffee and tea throughout the day, a minimalist yet satisfying breakfast, and practical facilities like the washer and dryer made everything feel effortless and well-considered.But what truly sets this place apart is the staff — the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever met. They are the reason I want to return again and again. When we came back late on our first night, we found origami gifts hanging on our door, and it made us incredibly happy.Nanae, you made our trip more beautiful. I hope you always meet people as kind as you are. Teşekkürler ederim
Very accessible and the staff was very friendly. Free breakfast and refreshments are available on the reception area.
