    • The hotel was great clean excellent service umbrellas to use. As close to perfect as can be. Super comfortable rooms bed, etc.

    Cons -

    • The restaurant closes at 9:30.? no real bar.? the daily afternoon menu was the same everyday and we weren?t allowed to eat our own food.
    • One staff member was rude, unhelpful. Room was too warm and promised electric fan never arrived.
    • There seemed to be a bit of a dust problem in the air. Also, I felt like the towels and the bedroom wear felt rough on the skin.

    Upgraded/new. Spacious room.

Only hotel I been too whee the toilet seat or bidet water was not warm. Not very soundproof, could hear noise from cleaning crew in the hallway.

Clean, spacious hotel conveniently within walking distance of Kyoto Station. Room had a nice view, and the onsite restaurant was exceptional.

    10IshitaPosted on: 1-19-2026

We could walk to Kyoto Station in less than 10 minutes. We had a lot of day trips planned to different areas so being so close to the station was ideal. Staff was super helpful and breakfast was great!

The hotel is close to kyoto statio, check-in was smooth and the rooms look very nice and are very clean

The staff were very hospitable and friendly. Breakfast excellent, though they need more coffee stations or more efficient coffee machines. Comfortable beds.

The interior designer gets an "F" score. 1. The lobby has a reflective umbrella and ceiling feature creating a claustrophobic feeling. And one has to navigate around about 50 large suitcases from tour groups to get to the elevator. Suggestion: Remove the umbrella and reflective ceiling feature. Relocate suitcases. 2. The lighting on the room number signage creates a harsh shadow behind making them hard to read. Suggestion: Backlight the room number signage to reduce the shadow. 3. As you enter the guestroom there is a small area for luggage with drawers below that are full. Suggestion: remove bathrobe from one drawer and turn it into a shelf instead. 4. The bedside stand has a fake open drawer with the light controls in it, a head knocker if you plan to access the only two shelves in the room and a great location for spilling a water glass during the night all over the light controls. Suggestion: Put light switches on the wall and supply a functional bed stand. 5. An oversized chair is beside a small round table with only one stool. Suggestion: Remove this chair. Add a stool and luggage stand. 6. The bathroom sink takes up the whole counter thus not allowing any room for personals. Suggestion: Install a smaller sink. Add shelves, towel rack and robe hook. 7. Note: when walls are painted a dark colour, lighting needs to be increased. Suggestion: add area lighting so guests can see while they pack and unpack.

The staff here were amazing! Rooms were larger than average for Japan and were quite comfortable. Breakfast had lots of options.

It seemed difficult for taxi drivers to find

Property was clean, amenities were great, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a great time there!

Clean, nice size room for Japan. Quirky decorations. Very helpful staff but some very limited English but helpful nonetheless.

A/C automatically resets to a higher temp periodically. Frosted windows so no natural light, room was dark.

Everything! Clean, kind staff, great location.

Accessible from Kyoto Station (although the walk was closer to 15+ minutes if you don't know how to exit the station). Amenities were ok. Not a bad option.

Our king bed room (with separate shower booth) was somewhat sufficient for 2 adults and 1 infant but did feel small at times. I think this is unavoidable given the average room size in Japan and this room was above average. Our room didn it get much natural light. I also felt that the amenities weren't bad but didn't blow me away for a 4 star facility.

Stayed at the Mercure Kyoto Station Hotel and was seriously impressed! ✨ The modern style gives the whole place a fresh, chic vibe that feels more like a boutique luxury spot than a standard station hotel. The real surprise? The room size! ? In Japan, you expect cozy (aka tiny), but here the rooms were way more spacious than I imagined. Clean, stylish, and super comfortable — definitely not your average Japan hotel experience. ??️ Would recommend for anyone wanting both convenience and comfort in Kyoto.

My first impression at Mercure Kyoto Station Hotel wasn’t the best — when I went to check in, the attendant seemed totally disengaged, almost like he didn’t want to be bothered with me. Honestly, the way he looked me up and down made me feel like I didn’t belong there, which wasn’t the welcome I was expecting. ?But here’s the flip side — every interaction after that completely turned things around. The rest of the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Special shoutout to the lady at check-out who went above and beyond with kindness and professionalism. She single-handedly made me feel good about choosing this hotel and left me with a much better impression overall.

I was very disappointed with the hotel’s communication. Messages through the app were extremely slow, and I had to follow up many times without receiving proper replies, even until my check-in day. I requested an upgrade to a Twin “Hollywood Style Room” with Kyoto Tower view, but nothing was arranged when I arrived, and I had to ask again at the front desk. This was frustrating and not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel.

Close to the metro and bus stations. Decent room, clean. space wise small, but better than many other options in Japan. Good breakfast options.

Not much of a view, the room we got was facing an outside staircase, so barely any sunlight which was a bit of a problem since we were trying to adjust to the jet lag.
