    Pros +

    • Very good location, near shopping, Kanazawa Castle Park, Kenrokuen and museums. Great bath on top floor.
    • The staff were excellent and very helpful
    • Room arrangement.

    Cons -

    • The noise caused by construction was little disappointed.
    • Dark suite. Limited lighting in bathroom and closet.Requested dry-cleaning (not wash) for $120 USD women's black cotton blouse but the service used washer and dryer - blouse had "dryer ripples/wrinkles" on collar, faded edges, and clearly shrunk! Unwearable. Do use use dry-cleaning service for nicer items. Jeans washed were fine.
    • As a woman with 4 tattoos, I wasn’t allowed to use the onsen. This was very disappointing.

Our family enjoyed our stay at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kanazawa. The hotel is very well situated. We could walk to the train station, fish market, garden, and castle. The breakfast was great and the onsen was amazing.

Choose this hotel for excellent location within walking distance to tourist attractions. But keep in mind hotel is on main road and not in a "scenic" location.Staff were very kind. Clean but basic hotel and suite. Good value.

It felt well cared for and easy to get around.

As a woman with 4 tattoos, I wasn’t allowed to use the onsen. This was very disappointing.

Breakfast was our favorite while in Japan. They do a great job showcasing local products and I wanted to try it all. The bath was really great to have after an exhausting day walking. Location was great close to buses, Omicho market, and Kanazawa castle - we walked everywhere! Would highly recommend!

We enjoyed our breakfast in a room with a pleasant outlook onto a garden. The choice of foods was excellent; the food was replenished regularly and always fresh. The buffet table was always clean and well presented. A wide selection of drinks, teas and coffee are available.

    9RujiwatiPosted on: 12-13-2025

The location is perfect as it’s central to most tourist destinations and food & beverage places. I liked the fact that you can enjoy a great local sukiyaki dinner at the hotel. Perfect during cold and windy nights. I will definitely come back as they provide a nice onsen on the property with a beautiful view of the city.

Not enough washing machines for the number of guests

The location is the best aspect. We could easily walk to many historical sites and museums, such as the Oyama shrine, which has a path to the bridge towarss Kanazawa Castle park. It is a 15-20 min leisurely walk to the Kenrokuen garden, which also leads to art museums, DT Suzuki museum, etc. There are many cafes and restaurants to eat going up and down the main street in front of the hotel. The Omicho market is like 5 min away. You could get fruit and coffee parfaits and sandos everyday if you wanted at Muruhata which is near there. Near the Kenrokuen there are decent restaurants and bistros to get away from the long lines crowding small restaurants. And, no real need to take a taxi or bus unless it is very cold and rainy. Even the back roads behind the hotel have many nice eateries, like for Hakusai Nabe at Saburobei, which is like a 5 min walk away. But, the room and facilities are still quite good. The queen room is spacious for the price. The decor, aesthetics of the furniture and layout made our honeymoon feel special without breaking the bank. The bed is comfortable and the lighting made it easy to read at night while my partner sleeps or light up the whole room when we are ready to go out. Many free amenities, including comfortable pajamas to wear to the onsen or in the room. Room cleaning is a daily service, which is not the case at other hotels that are priced higher even in Tokyo. I didn't use the onsen, but my husband enjoyed it. I preferred soaking in the room tub with warm water and bath salts, which was nice. The concierge staff are exceptional. We had an issue where I forgot my medication in another city. We were worried that we needed to see a doctor to get a prescription refill. The front desk helped us contact the previous hotel staff to get the medication shipped overnight. That was a problem that required multiple people to solve and we were glad the staff could help us think it through.

A few things to nitpick but not many. The breakfast buffet is pricey and offers more than what I would be able to handle as person who needs a diabetes-friendly diet. This is why we often went out to eat. The laundry room is small with low capacity machines, which may take hours to wash and dry a small load of clothes. It was difficult to use the TV to stream Netflix because we couldn't cast our mobile devices or tablet.

I would have liked to have coffee available in the morning

Wonderful hospitality. The staff were incredibly cheerful, friendly, and helpful. Dinner at the restaurant was also very high quality— not what one typically expects at a hotel restaurant. Great experience all around!

The breakfast buffet got quite crowded and noisy.

Great location and friendly staff. Though hotel offers no parking, there is a cheap parking spaces nearby.

    10HollyPosted on: 10-15-2025

This was my favorite hotel of the 5 hotels we had in this trip. The onsen is absolutely dreamy, the rooms were comfortable, large and quiet, the staff was amazing (even getting me an ice pack for my bad hip), extensive breakfast offerings, and the location is just right.

    Nothing!

Very new and clean. Excellent AYCE breakfast. Forgot important item in the room. Hotel staff was able to retrieve it for me after I already checked out a day before. Very appreciative of hotel’s integrity and service.
