    Pros +

    • Great location. Helpful staff. Spacious room.
    • A gorgeous hotel in lovely Kanazawa, close walking distance to everything we wanted to see (right across from the castle grounds, and very close to bars and restaurants). The private rooftop onsen + sauna was magic on snowy afternoons overlooking the park and city, and were even able to get early checkin so we could be ready for our first afternoon onsen session. Our room (on the second floor, at the back of the building) was huge by any standard, but especially for Japan, quiet and secluded, and so elegant. In-room amenities were excellent, from the complimentary welcome snacks and minibar to the beautiful skincare in the bathroom. Breakfast downstairs was lovely — we usually skip a hotel breakfast unless it’s something special, but we had breakfast both days of our stay since it was so good (the congee and fresh soy milk especially). Overall such a beautiful and calm place, reminding me of K5 in Tokyo (a favourite hotel).
    • The little amenities, such as tea and snacks in the room and free drinks in the lounge, were much appreciated. Staff were very kind. The Japanese bento box breakfast for New Year's was excellent. The toiletries were very high quality. The coffee cups in the room were exceptionally beautiful, and very expensive - I was worried we would accidentally drop one.

    Cons -

    • Excess street noise from pedestrian crossing. Limited options on breakfast menu.
    • We stayed in a superior room and found it had some design flaws. First, there's no hook or bar for hanging towels in the bathroom. Second, the beds are on a slightly elevated platform. Each person in my family tripped or badly stubbed their toes on this platform multiple times. Third, there's not a good surface on which to place one's open suitcases. You have to use the sofa for this. Fourth, the sofa is uncomfortable. Finally, the room's entryway light is motion activated. When it is not activated, the room is too dark for carrying out tasks that require a moderate amount of light.
    • Wish we could have had clearer options for coffee and such for breakfast, it wasn't always offered - particularly when busy so it was okay. I do wish there was a full length mirror to get ready in front of - or just another mirror away from the sink. But these were really small things, we weren't really that concerned about it nor did it negatively impact the trip at all!

Korinkyo was my husband and I’s first stay in Japan after a 14 hour flight and 3 hour train ride - we couldn’t have picked a better place to land. We were welcomed so warmly by the kind staff and everything on offer (breakfast, lounge drinks, spa treatments) was explained to us thoroughly. Our room was beautifully designed, spacious, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for a three day stay. We both especially loved: the taiwanese style breakfasts, the comfortable yukata, and the rooftop sauna amenities. We’re looking forward to staying again the next time we’re in Kanazawa!

Delicious breakfast. The porridge was better than the sticky rice! Taiwanese tea was lovely. The location was really convenient and the rooms were very nice and spacious. Loved the in-room bath! The rooftop baths and sauna were really great too. Comfy bed. Staff was really kind.

This was a beautiful, peaceful hotel with great breakfast and kind and helpful staff.

The hotel is charming and classy. The staffs are helpful and friendly. Like the afternoon tea and drinks in the refrigertor.

Breakfast was minimum, yet classy! The toilet on a raised step, it is not safe for some.

Just an unreal hotel. The corner city view was one of the nicer rooms I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in some nice hotels). Staff was so attentive and friendly. Aesthetically, they got every last detail right.

    Nothing. Perfect stay.

Korinkyo accommodated our special requests of checking in early & arranging transport to the airport with ease. The hotel is well-situated near all the museums. The staff is kind & accommodating, even calling to make reservations for us or preparing hand-written letters to better communicate with us. The hotel is very quirky. With a unique concrete design done to a moderate level of specification. Lots of good treats & teas in the room. There is no coffee makers in the room, but you can pop down to the lounge on Floor 2 & the team will cheerfully prepare one for you. We were able to accommodate our family of 5 over two rooms in the hotel.

The staff was so nice and helpful, the hotel was beautiful, had everything I needed. Hotel is calm and welcoming, have everything you need.

Hotel had so much character and was just beautifully presented. Was so calm and peaceful. Staff were so helpful and kind. The lounge with complimentary drinks was an unexpected bonus and the mini bar was restocked each day with treats and drinks. We also used the rooftop sauna and onsen which was a lovely treat. Breakfast was delicious - both western and taiwanese options. We were so sad to leave!

    Nothing!

The staff, the room, the design, the atmosphere and the roof sauna.

The city view rooms are stunning but not sound proofed so the traffic is very noticeable at night. With earplugs it’s fine but would have been perfect if it were just a bit more insulated.Perhaps why the rooms at the back sold out so early.

Amazing location. Amazing interior with style. Friendly staff. Nice amenities. Stayed with kids, room was specious. Nice welcoming drinks.

    16:00 check in. Noisy a/c.

The room was spacious and well designed, and the beds were comfortable. The location was convenient.

The reception hall was tiny and located on the second floor making the arrival experience each time quite anonymous. The services were basically non exsistent: the restaurant was open only for breakfast and the onsen on the roof not functioning at the time we visited ! Really overpriced for the overall experience

Great to stay somewhere that’s trying to be different. The private sauna experience was fantastic

We stayed in Kanazawa a few days to chill out but we didn’t find our room comfortable because it was dark. The room (not facing the city) didn’t have a big enough window to light the room. It was dark in the morning and afternoon

    8innaPosted on: 1-18-2025

Hot tub did not meet expectations. It was not hot, and it was shallow. Staff gave confusing instructions how to use sauna.

    Staff was not helpful.

The Korinkyo is a beautifully designed oasis in the heart of Kanazawa’s Korinbo neighborhood, offering both tranquility and a perfect starting point for exploring the city’s highlights like Kenroku-en Garden and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. The hotel’s minimalist design, crafted with natural materials and soft, welcoming forms, creates an atmosphere of calm and comfort. Thoughtfully curated amenities, including fragrant lavender and yuzu care products, elevate the experience, while the multi-course breakfast, served by attentive staff, is a true highlight. Korinkyo is more than a hotel—it’s a restorative retreat that lingers in your memory long after you leave.
