    Pros +

    • Good position lovely room helpful staff
    • Excellent! It was really like a brunch. Had eggs, sausage, chicken, fish, curry , fruit, yog, breads etc
    • Good location and nice onsen in a old school hotel

    Cons -

    • Hotel is a little dated however was very clean
    • The decor was not just dated, it is dingy with old carpets, light fixtures, elevator, even room keys. Lobby has heavy, dark, old-fashioned furniture. Lots of options for Asian breakfast but not much effort put into Western fare. Hotel location, though close to the park, did not feel like it was in a neighborhood. Busy streets nearby.
    • A bit dated in decor ( but this gave it a certain Agatha Christie charm).

Hardworking, attentive staff, (with little English) natural hot spring onsen.

The decor was not just dated, it is dingy with old carpets, light fixtures, elevator, even room keys. Lobby has heavy, dark, old-fashioned furniture. Lots of options for Asian breakfast but not much effort put into Western fare. Hotel location, though close to the park, did not feel like it was in a neighborhood. Busy streets nearby.

Elegant, well maintained, nice breakfast, wonderful onsen, attentive staff

A bit dated in decor ( but this gave it a certain Agatha Christie charm).

The location is perfect to walk around the city and the main tourist attractions. The staff were really nice and helpful (they speak English). The room was really comfortable and big

    10AnnePosted on: 11-8-2025

Everything is amazing. The staff, the retro decor [ in the best possible way], the gift shop, onsen, and location are all excellent. Edging the park grounds and an easy flat walk to all major sites.

The fine dining kaiseki chef was fantastic, but there are a very limited number of special tables.and we were in an overflow table next to the service area. The ambience took away from the experience although service was excellent. Reserve your table well in advance for a special occasion.

The property sits outside the castle so it’s very convenient to roam around the beautiful gardens and walk everywhere

The hotel is very aged, ventilation is not good which makes it smell like food from the restaurant everywhere near the front desk and reception area. Beds are very uncomfortable to stay longer than one night. We train the Kaiseki menu at the restaurant and it’s the priciest meal we’ve paid for in Japan and by far the least favorite. Not much protein and a lot of typical food, overall good even if different but definitely not worth even a fraction of the price

Staff was mostly friendly. Hot springs were nice

It smelled strongly of cigarrettes, the breakfast buffet was pretty bad, mostly cold. Staff is friendly but not very helpful if something needs fixing or changing.

My family loved this hotel. The location was great and very walkable. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, and my family loved visiting the Onsen every morning. The staff was very kind and helpful. We will be back! Thank you!

The hotel location was close to the Castle and Gardens, both places we wanted to visit. The restaurant was a bit expensive, but the desk staff suggested several places within walking distance. The hotel has an old world atmosphere in the lobby with a classical pianist or violinist each evening for an hour. The hot baths were quite nice.

Excellent location near Kenruoken Garden and Palace and easy walk to Omicho Market. Fabulous breakfast with wide variety of Japanese and Western choices. Onsen was clean.

Hotel carpet smelled slightly mildewed and bed was very hard.

    10EugenePosted on: 10-14-2025

The location was near the major attractions and the neighborhood was quiet. The accommodations were very luxurious. The breakfast was over the top good.

    Nothing worth noting

    10RICHARDPosted on: 10-11-2025

Convenient location to castle park. Uses old style metal room keys, not RFID cards to unlock door to room. Excellent warm and welcoming staff. Excellent and varied breakfast buffet. Comfortable bed. In-room bathtub and toilet. Hotel has large in-house natural hot spring onsen and sauna room.

    10KirstenPosted on: 10-10-2025

The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. The hotel was within 15 min of the castle, gardens, shops, geisha district and market.

    10IlyaPosted on: 10-7-2025

The atmosphere is very special - a very Japanese style hotel in a very central location. Great onsen with convenient working hours! Huge rooms.

Seems like only twin beds are available. The breakfast was too Japanese style

    9PaulaPosted on: 10-4-2025

The staff are all amazing!! So friendly, so helpful, so kind!!

The air conditioner in our room was very loud, the bathroom was very hot and smelly, and the breakfast buffet had very few vegetarian options.

    9JonesPosted on: 9-10-2025

The hotel is lovely, the natural spring baths are nice.

The elevators have a sickly stink to them that made my stomach turn every time I stepped into them.

    9NetaPosted on: 8-27-2025

Be prepared to go back in time... Stylish lobby, with a cute shop and delicious drinks. The breakfast has a breadth of Japanese dishes which was exciting to try. Rooms are big and super comfortable. And the onsen and sauna - wow. We loved every moment here!! Above all the service is just top notch. Feels old school in the best of ways. The staff were super super lovely and helpful! In our first room the aircon had an issue. They immediately switched room for us, but the new one had smaller beds. Third time does it! They were very attentive and kind and we hugely appreciated how they sorted everythin so quickly. I only wish we stayed there more than one night. In terms of the location, it's 10 minute walk to cafes/eateries or the gardens, but we didn't mind it at all. It's very quiet and we even had nice views from our room, which we love.

The Kanazawa Hakuchoro Hotel Sanraku was a peaceful and pleasant experience, and the location was ideal for our purposes - Kenroku, castle and historic walking districts. The decor was vintage but in great condition. The small gift shop was a nice addition. The staff were so helpful! We also enjoyed the hot springs though it did not have any outside baths. The room was perfect for our needs, twin beds were very comfortable and the provided waters, coffee, treats and teas were very nice.

We liked everything but regretted that the grand piano pianist, playing nightly in the beautiful lobby, simply started too late (9:30 pm) in the evening for tourists like us!
