New Grand Hotel

The hotel was run by an old couple. Although they can't speak any English, with the help of the translator app, they are still really helpful. Its location is right next to the subway station so very convenient to travel around.

The room and facilities were quite old. Luckily, they were still functional when we used them but may not look pretty and like they could be broken at any second. We told the couple that we didn't need room cleaning but when we got back at the end of the day, the room was cleaned. The staff moved our stuff and threw away something that we intended to use later on, which was kind of not respecting our privacy.

Was very near the train station but did have good windows which shut out the noise of the trains.

Near subway

It was not in a good location. Hotel used for women to meet up with men. There was an area outside the hotel where a lot of homeless people were camped. Water drained on to the bathroom floors in both rooms daily.

The location was close to transport

It was very dirty, the sheets were stained and the bathroom was grotty. It smelt of smoke everywhere and it was difficult to breathe.

Good location.

This is a motel, complete with car park on ground floor. It is definitively not a hotel. The smell of bleach in the room was a smell to behold!

The location is convenient. Right next to the train so you are able to get going easily.

You get what you pay for. It’s an older hotel and you can tell.

The room was spacious and had wifi and movies. Location was great access to the Daegu train station and downtown.

Very convenient location! The rooms were cozy, even if the hotel is next to train station, the windows isolates the sound pretty well, it was easy to sleep. Everything was well equipped.

There were some unclean parts: some black hair left in the bathroom when we arrived, there was someone's toothbrush on the floor in the corner. But besides that it was pretty clean.

OLD...NOT SO GRAND HOTEL

Deceptive advertising...pictures displayed reflect far grander amenities than available. "Receptionist" more interested in TV than checking in guests and didn't speak English. When we tried to communicate using Korean translation app Papago, she refused to accommodate us and chose to wave us away. No microwave in room as advertised. TV in room not working. Open bars of soap and toothpaste unhygienic. Taps were difficult to open. Shower sandals moldy. Tiles peeling off ceiling. Vagrants sleeping outside hotel on filthy mattresses. Had paid for 6 nights, left after the 1st night.

Honest Team

Breakfast was not provided as advised in the booking confirmation report from booking.com.Language barrier because the receptionist use of English was very limited.

Staff was great, plenty of space, a provided fridge. Easy-going and relaxed atmosphere.

Close to Daegu station. The rooms are about what you would expect for the price.

I paid extra for "breakfast included" and was told that there is no breakfast at the hotel. When we checked in I could hear someone talking in the back and did not come for several minutes to assist us despite tapping the window and shouting for assistance. Just FYI, there were about a dozen homeless people living between the hotel and Daegu station.

Absolutely nothing.

Everything. As soon as I walked in, there was a random alarm going off which was really load and obnoxious. The staff was not understanding that I had a reservation there and threw me a random key which was not the room I reserved. As we walked into the room, it felt like a sauna and smelled like one as well. There were cobwebs on the ceilings, hair on the bed, floor and in the bathroom. It looked as if housekeeping just came in, made the bed and restocked the fridge then left. There is nothing new about the “New Grand Hotel” AT ALL. The wall paper was coming down, the window opened to an alley was where I could touch the building which was like 3 feet away. If you are ever in Daegu, I recommend sleeping in a cardboard box before you stay at this hotel! STAY AWAY from here… please don’t waste your money as we did!
