- The staff was very kind and informative.
- food reception staff
- The Front desk trainee was super helpful,Free parking in front of the hotel. Otherwise not a very pleasant experience. Pool is very basic not as nice as on the pictures,no amenities at the pool. Don't pay the extra money for this Hotel, not a 5* hotel.
Cons -
- It is not a 5-star hotel and doesn't meet 4-Star standards either.
- extra bed poorquality
- This is NOT a 5 star hotel. I stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world, but this is not one of them. This should be a 4 star Hotel no more. They call it a city view, instead it is a view of a wall of the next building. First room smelt like smoke.

Luxurious, elegant decor, good wi-fi, great meals and service all the way around, from reception to waitstaff and the chef. Little conveniences like pool towels and choice of pillow types. Very comfortable bed. Good wi-fi, mini-bar and safe.
The a/c is pre-set at 20 degrees celsius and they won't change it. If you're hot-blooded it may be uncomfortable. The floor of the room had grit and hair when we checked in. The maid service next-day cleaned it up. Everything else was perfect.
Breakfast had lots of option.
The photos online are not accurate representation of what you get. I was very disappointed when I got my room The view was terrible the photos online made it look like you were at a luxury resort, but it was a 3-star hotel with poor amenities. My star rating is 3, very outdated not maintained and extremely small room. The roof top pool is also small. The rooms had an odur and the cleaning staff offered spray to mask the smell.I asked for change of room, or upgrade not possible. or even a refund. Next night I moved to a 4 star suit next door which was beyond pristine and clean and high end, in compared to this hotel, which is suppingly rated 5 star, don't know how it was rated 5 star.
The cleaning staff were very friendly. .The front office manager was helpful.
Reception team were rude especially Niki, their behaviour was awful
We came here for the first few nights of our honeymoon in Crete & found staff very helpful & welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. Amazing shower & newly renovated bathroom in the room. Also enjoyed the rooftop pool & close proximity to the old town and bus station. Would definitely stay again.
The breakfast and location were exceptional.
The room could have been bigger and the extra bed was not that comfortable.
We booked the Presidential Suite for our wedding nights, and the experience was absolutely perfect. The suite was spacious, elegant, and beautifully set up, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable.
Nothing — everything exceeded our expectations
Breakfast was very tasty with a lot of options, great cappuccino. the location is 10/10 close to downtown by walking distance and the harbor. clean and luxurious vibes in the hotel. size room was good for wheelchair user and spacious bathroom. they also gave us water bottles everyday as part of our stay.
we visited there in the end of August, was very windy weather, not very comfortable for roof pool swimming.
Excellent location, rooms are very clean and comfortable, amazing breakfast and very professional staff.
There’s nothing I didn’t like
Excellent location, next to the city center and all major tourist attractions. The staff is super friendly and eager to help . The room was super clean . Bonus, the very spacious bathroom. Also don't forget to visit the roof top pool .
Clean, modern, beautiful design, pool, food, service, staff, rooms, quality
Pool closing early, breakfast opening time at 7, and the limited parking.
Quiet place near to the city center. Very kind personnel. Beautiful room, not very big but very well furnished . Clean and serviceable bathroom. Great breakfast with wide choice for both continental and english breakfast.
No electrical outlet near the bathroom mirror for electric shaver.
Easy to book. Staff was very kind and helpful to a degree. Close to port
For a 5 star hotel I was unimpressed. Room was mediocre and ac didn’t work needed to change room in the middle of the night. Very noisy outside of rooms.basically is really a 3-4 star hotel depending on the rooms you choose
Very good location! Close to town with walking distance. The breakfast buffet fill with different varieties. The staff were nice & helpful.
The room was comfortable for a good night sleep. The room & the hallway look a bit aged.
Enjoyed my stay, breakfast was good, staff always smiling
Immediate location a bit run down but only 5 minute walk to restaurants etc
The Aquila Atlantis Hotel has an established presence in the city. The following things were well received about the Hotel: (1) The breakfast was by far the best part of the hotel - a huge selection. There were a variety of eggs: soft, boiled, poached, scrambled. Many different types of breads and fruits. A good array of yoghurt, muesli and dessert-like options. Most impressively, there was a huge slice of honeycomb on display oozing fresh honey! As for drinks, a waiter offered tea and coffee - he even remembered our order the next day. There was also sparkling wine available too. (2) The hotel was really close to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum which featured some of the fresco paintings from Knossos Palace (3 minute walk) and the Fortress in the Port (13 minute walk). The Port itself is beautiful. Note that entry into the fortress is a few euros. (3) The porter was very helpful - taking our bags on arrival and assisting with storage as we checked-out. Reception assisted with ordering a taxi with the non-tourist price of 15 euros. (4) The bar on the ground floor was immensely long - though we didn't have time to test out the drinks. (5) There were comfy spa gowns available in the room.
The Aquila Atlantis Hotel could improve as follows: (1) The balcony balustrading blocked out most of the view as it was not transparent - it also had a sizeable gap at the bottom which would be concerning with small children. When we sat in the outdoor chairs, we just saw the balustrade. Higher chairs or a bar table would have been better. (2) The view itself was also disappointing - overlooking a demolished building and the sea view blocked by the two carrier ships. I would have preferred a view of the city or the Fortress down below. This was a real shame as I selected the room because of the view. Other guests' reviews have suggested booking accommodation closer in the city and from the outside, the Megaron Hotel looked like it would have a better outlook. (3) The balcony had constant smoke filtering in from neighbouring guests so we had to close the door to stop it filling our room. (4) There were little amenities for a 5-star hotel. The pool was outdoors and not heated, nor were there any jacuzzies so this was also disappointing. The representative from the spa was often in the foyer advertising the services but this could be more enticing with a refreshing complimentary drink or product to lure you. The specials noted on the printed piece of paper provided could have been displayed better and were still rather expensive. We did not have time to view the gym. (5) At breakfast, there was also no one to greet you or no sign advising what to do - rather, upon enquiring with Reception, I was told to just sit wherever and someone would come over. (6) The shampoo, conditioner and body soap (while environmentally friendly in the squeezy bottle), had a really cheap and masculine scent. They were quite strong & not indicative of 5-star luxury in my view. (7) The TV did not have an option for Netflix and had limited English channels. (8) Finally, when we were staying, there was really loud noise from outside on the road due to upgrading of the optic network.
Nice large roomsGood breakfast
Construction outside
The decor was very nice
The hotel did not inform us that the pools would be closed upon arrival and I was looking forward to using the pool
