    Pros +

    • We were on a road trip visiting the entire Kyushu Island, and we started from Kagoshima. This hotel was our second stop after much driving and site seeing. Quiet location up the hill and amongst residential houses. Sufficient parking as well. Good sizable rooms too. The rooms that we had were tatami typed with only toilets but no bath. Hence for bath and showers it was "public bath" that includes onsen. Pretty good onsen - both indoor and outdoor. During the period we were there hotel appeared to be pretty occupied with guests but as we wander about the property we don't find many people around and about, and definitely the public bath and onsen were not crowded at all. Only noted the crowd, but that too not extremely crowded, during morning breakfast. Good thing is they segregate breakfast timing to avoid overly crowded in the dinning hall. Breakfast options were with acceptable spread with offers of options able to cater to most palate.
    • Clean and well mainly
    • The authentic Japanese buffet is delicious.

    Cons -

    • Got to take a drive out for meals if not having on site. But driving out is not that far for food options though.
    • Construction blocking the driveway entrance create difficulties in carrying luggage to the hotel.
    • The room is a bit tight for a family of 4 with 3 suitcases.

The authentic Japanese buffet is delicious.

The room is a bit tight for a family of 4 with 3 suitcases.

When we arrived, there was some misunderstanding about the room type that was booked, but the staff was very helpful to resolve this issue and we enjoyed our stay at the hotel a lot. The Onsen is nice, breakfast has many options. We had a nice beach view too. Additionally, the staff helped us send our luggage to the next hotel - so this was very smooth for us.

Great buffet breakfast. Nice onsen. Decent location about a 10 minute walk from the beach. Laundry facilities were convenient for those going to the beach! There is a manga/picture book corner which our kid loved.

Most restaurants nearby close really early (between 8:00-9:00pm, or just lunch places). So if you like eating out somewhat late, you will find yourself in trouble searching for food. That was pretty inconvenient. The hotel facilities were also noticeably old. But for the price we paid (8000 yen/night for 3 people), it was a GREAT value, still quite comfortable.

Wonderful location, close to everywhere in Aoshima. The onsen was delightful, and the breakfast buffet and dinners were delicious and varied for everyones' tastes. Comfy pillows.

Pretty standard, hard Japanese mattress. No towels at the onsen so you have to bring your own from the room. Some lines to get in for breakfast, however hotel was near capacity when we stayed and we still never had to wait for longer than 30 minutes. Definitely go down to put your name for breakfast earlier than your scheduled time if you have plans you need to attend to.

friendly staffs, clean hotel since shoes are not allowed, nice onsen and big cozy rooms to hang around or rest

ok to remove shoes at entrance but need to provide better seats to wear shoes

    9JeremyPosted on: 12-3-2024

Very nice onsen, excellent breakfast and clean room.

Younger reception staff not really experienced or comfortable with dealing with foreign guests.

    9TheresaPosted on: 10-21-2024

Great proximity to Aoshima beach, free parking, comfortable rooms and lots of included amenities! Was not able to use the baths during my stay but it was nice that access, including comfortable clothes to wear around the hotel, were included. Common spaces including library and laundry rooms were clean and spacious

The staff was welcoming, helpful, and made us feel comfortable. We greatly appreciated the free bikes. The hotel is very clean. Our room was fine.

This hotel service and facility like 5 stars hotel. People works there very professional and polite, they try all the way to help customers.

Spa Facility, service and comic books

    8AlexandraPosted on: 11-4-2023

Located on the top on a hill. Parking is available around the facility. The spa is very nice, especially morning time (am 8:30-9:30) when customers are few or none.

You have to remove your shoes before entering the facility, so you need to walk in slippers provided at the entrance. Check-out time and public spa opening time is the same, so at 10:00am we had to wait long time for spa customers to finish entrance before we could check-out the hotel.

    9VladimirPosted on: 8-29-2023

Great hotel, great onsen. Everything is truly authentic. Staff was very helpful but strangled with English.

    Did not dislike anything.

    8JackPosted on: 8-29-2023

The Route Inn was lovely to stay in for the two nights we were in Aoshima. The breakfast was delicious and varied a lot each day. Staff were welcoming and eager to help and the Onsen was a treat to visit. Also we were very impressed with the manga room! It had quite an extensive collection

A fire alarm sounded at 4am one night which led to us evacuating out from the 9th floor.this wasn't the hotel's fault, but the fire escape was unsafe. The outside floors connected by the steps were very slippery in the rain, which caused a number of guests to slip. Thankfully no serious injuries. Although the staff were very apologetic. Also the mattresses were a bit hard.

Manga library, big hotel, comfortable, lots of free amenities (razor, shaving cream)

The bedroom had a little smell

I really liked everything about this hotel! I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome it was for the price! It'll be more fun if you had a car. Public transportation in the area isn't as frequent as other parts of Japan. And it's a completely shoes off hotel. It was so clean too!

    10ChristinePosted on: 7-8-2023

I LOVE this hotel. It was my first hotel in Japan so it was a great introduction to Japan. The staff are very friendly and helpful, there is an onsen inside the hotel which I LOVED. Do keep in mind that they do not allow individuals with tattoos inside the onsen. The breakfast is Japanese style traditional breakfast where you sit on the floor (you can also sit on a chair if you want to as they are availabe) and the food is wonderful. The room is a little small but I think that is expected seeing as it is Japan but it was great value for money!

Nothing, I loved this hotel so much.
