Toyoko Inn Kumamoto Ekimae

The free breakfast was nice and I also love that it's close to the station.

The staff at the hotel promised me early check-in, but when I got there, they attempted to charge me 4000 yen to check in early. I feel like the front desk staff were dishonest. They should have been upfront about charges for early check-in.

The hotel is conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from Kumamoto Station. The room matched the photos, was clean, and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, making the stay pleasant overall.

Small rooms but common in Japan.

The room is a good size for a solo traveler, and cleanliness meets standard expectations. The hotel is conveniently located next to the JR and Shinkansen stations, as well as the tram line, making it easy to explore the area.

One downside is that the mirror is positioned directly facing the bed, which feels a bit uncomfortable. Additionally, the pillows are quite soft, which might not be ideal for everyone.

One of my favourite hotels while travelling in Japan. Just by railway station, mall, supermarket a few meters from the doors. Parking garage if you have rental car. Stuff is very caring. Breakfast is good (and also there is espresso and cappuccino machine with a good coffee:). Well connected by public transport to all areas of the city

This hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from both the train station and the AMU Mall. Our room was admitted “snug,” with two twin beds and a prefab bathroom unit. However, it was clean and comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep. On the first floor was a large breakfast area with vending machines, free coffee, and hot water. That’s where we comfortably ate our take-out dinner. The breakfast buffet featured curry rice with meat, yakisoba, tamagoyaki, sausages, three kinds of soup, and several types of bread. We were surprised by how much value this hotel offered (as compared to other Toyoko Inns we’ve stayed at in Tokyo and Kyoto). It’s a great choice for a 1-night stay.

Room was small, but we knew what we were getting.

(1) No trash bin in the toilet, which is a bit unusual compared to all the other hotels stayed in Japan.(2) There’s some huge noise like engine sound in the room, unable to sleep at night, have to use earplugs. Even when I turn off the air on and the toilet fan, the noise is still there.

Location is fantastic - just beside the Kumamoto Station and Amu Plaza which gave me access to food, shopping and transportation (buses, JR, subway and tram). Ease of check-in by using a machine and check-out was simply by dropping the card into a basket. Breakfast was simple yet tasty enough to start the day - and there's a takeaway container which you can bring up to your room.My bed was huge and comfortable! I like that even though there is no bedside table the panel has a little slot which I can place my phone beside my bed.

The friend desk could have been a little friendlier - it was my first time so I was a little clueless on how to check-in using the machine - thank goodness as it comes in English. Also should provide English sign on where to place they card for check-out instead of just pointing. It made me feel bad that my Japanese is terrible.This is maybe not the hotel's fault because I chose the smoking room but the cigarette smell was so strong. But they did prepare air freshening spray so I used them to my heart's extend.

Location is next to train / bus station and to all the restaurants and shopping. Inexpensive relative to others.

Although breakfast is on site, the hotel doesn’t have a dinning area except in the lobby with many tables/ chairs close to each other. Crowded eating in front of reception - odd!

This is my third time staying in Toyoko Inn during my travel. I would say that the room in Kumamoto seemed bigger compared to the other two. The location is very convenient!

I wish they had a bigger dining room for breakfast. For a 27-story hotel, the small dining area is quite packed during breakfast time.

Great and helpful staff would give good tips on seeing local sights and fantastic complimentary breakfast

The staff are very helpful and friendly. They can also speak English which we find helpful.

The bathroom and room is a bit small.

It is located close to the Kumamoto Station, both JR and train. The room is big enough to open up my luggage.
