Check in ended at 10:00pm but we were delayed with rain so didn't get in until 10:30pm and luckily called and they stayed for us.

There were roaches in the room and the heater was so loud and distracting.

- Convenient Location - Parking available - English speaking stuff - Cheap for the area- laundry available

- It was said the one could order dinner (and there was free breakfast expected I think?) but none was in place - The room smells a bit but one gets used to it after a while

We loved this small town, and although we had a full day of rain so we couldn't travel, we found the room to be very cozy and the kitchen facilities useful

You need to have a vehicle to get to the nearest convenience store

Large common space and close to nature

Location has no public transport close by. 30 min walking from the train station. 2+ hours of public transport to Mt Aso crater, while car takes 20 minutes.

Located in a gorgeous spot with a spectacular view of the mountains in the morning. As soon as my friend and I saw the location we made sure to book a second night. The interior was cozy and the staff were both helpful and friendly.

Kids loved the novelty of having a split level.Great location to explore Mt Aso. Handy to have the common kitchen & eating common area. Didn't get a chance to try the outdoor BBQ, would've been great.

We were greeted by a not so friendly man at reception. We had trouble booking directly on their website, ended up booking here, but $50 extra per night for our family compared to their own site. Cash only payment at the property. Shower is reasonably clean. Toilet isn't replenished for the 2 days we were there. Dusty fan & cooking/eating equipment in our family room.

There is no towel in the room. And the staff who checked us cannot communicate with us in English and also sick (without wearing a face mask), this is later address by another staff stepping in

Nice little guesthouse for few days, it is actually a 30min walk from train station if u dont have a car, if you are lucky there is sometime a bus going from the guesthouse to the train station, Google maps time was accurate. Good value for money, and good location if u want to explore a little bit Minamiaso Valley which is quite beautifull also (don't just do Aso it's overcrowded) i think they can help you for hiking place around or what to do in the Valley. Bunk beds are confortable and there is a kitchen and fridge to store food.

It's unclear who is the staff to help / who is the family that lives here, we sometime had the impression to disturb them in the common area.. we felt a little bit watched at some point. The old men is entering the dorm to show people which bed they are, even if it's empty you can't chose your bed. Is also moving your stuff if it's not in a "correct place" ?! That's quite unusual ..

Great location close to the mountains

The room and other facilities were a bit dirty, the hostel has just one shower unit for quite a lot of people it can accomodate

It wasn't clean enough. Even if the kitchen is spacious, the waste bins were full to the rim. And in general it didn't feel great eating there. One shower for I don't know how many people so the waiting was long, the shower didnt feel that clean either. Two toilets. Dormitory is crowded and the proximity to strangers is a bit uncomfortable. There is no light for each bunk bed and worse of all is the bedding. You get clean sheet and small sheet for the pillow. The blanket itself and the pillow is not clean or at least has been used by others. This is the basic of the basic and we have stayed in dormitories that were awesome. This is not it. Good for travelers who are really aren't picky.

the host is a friendly old gentleman, and the facility is clean and well organized.

Should I have known, I would have rented a car. The place is 2km uphill from the train & bus station. There are only 4 buses a day.If you want to visit the volcano I recommend staying in Aso.

Very nice place. Very good price, I paid 1700yens for the night and 300 to use the dryer. The house is clean, the lady who manage the house is nice. Very good for travelling. I hiked from Aso station to this place, crossing Aso moutain. Very nice but difficult hike (20km and 1200m d+ and d-). The south path to go down the moutain was closed so I couldn t finish the hike, but some japanese took me in their care. So if you want to hike, double check every path in japanese official gouvernemental map (with yamap is ok), because the tourist information in Aso was not awared at all about hiking.

It's not really a drawback because it's not the fault of the house : but if you have no car, be carefull with the food, everything near by was closed after 6pm. I was lucky to find nice Dutch poeple that took me in their care to get some food.

Really good price! The hostel is simple but it was clean, the bed was comfortable and it is in a good location.

It's a little hard to access if you do not have a car. Otherwise, everything was clean, the owners were nice and the laundry machine is free to use. The only thing is that there is only one shower to use so you often have to wait.

The room was spacious and clean, the futon was comfy enough.Hosts were nice, feels like if you were living in their house (I mean... that's a bit the case).The view on the mountains was super nice.That's a bit in the middle of nowhere but can't complain at all, if you go here it's to be in the middle of nowhere anyway. Still not too far from a few beautiful places (by car). Bonus point they have cute cats.

The fridge and microwave could be a bit cleaner...
