Good location close to street cars, castle, restaurants. We enjoyed the visit also to the Sakuramachi bus terminal, where we have visited the food court and had really good shabu-shabu. The staff was helpful.

It is a " hotel California". Like the 70s era.Hotel still use physical key, carpet thin and well used. Everything is outdated but the staff is friendly and attentive. However. The bed is comfortable. For the price. I think I can find something better and more modern.
Provide a kettle at least
The location is very close to Sakura Machi which is where all the busses depart. They also let you leave your luggage if you arrive early. Or if you check out and come back later. The staff was pleasant and they spoke English. The single bed room is perfect suze for a solo traveler like myself. I had 1 big suitcase and 1 small, they were opened the whole time and I still had space to maneuver.
Nest Hotel Kumamoto (26/1/25 - 27/1/25, Triple Room) has a great location, especially if you're relying on public transport—it's right next to the bus terminal. However, if you're driving, be aware that parking is in a separate building and costs JPY 1,000 per night. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and breakfast was enjoyable, offering a decent selection of food.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The room itself felt very dated—the carpet, walls, and bathroom all showed noticeable wear and tear. A fresh coat of paint and some refurbishment would greatly improve the experience. While the stay was acceptable for a short visit, the aging interior and lack of maintenance make it less appealing for those looking for a comfortable and modern stay.

The location was about half a mile from the castle. Location was good and the included breakfast was good.
The hotel in the listing picture is not the property we stayed at, which was confusing at check-in. The hotel is older but in good repair.

We have stayed with Nest several times while staying in Kumamoto. The staff are very friendly, we were able to leave our luggage here while travelling around Japan. the location of the hotel is near Sakura Machi which is perfect for bus transfers!

I tried to open the window for 10 minutes and still couldn't figure out how to open it. You have to give up the key at the reception when you go out for the day, I think that's unnecessary.

The rooms are quite old and small. The bathroom was tiny and difficult to shower in. The room wasn’t very clean but it’s fine to sleep in. I don’t think it was worth the price however.
Unless you are taking buses which the hotel is just opposite the bus terminal. hotel is actually located at the end of the busy area
