Okus Hotel was located in a leafy part of the inner city, within walking distance of the castle. Additionally, shopping and restaurants were plentiful and easily found nearby. The hotel staff, conveniently for us, spoke excellent English and provided helpful and willing assistance. Our room was spacious, although not contemporary.
The hallway to our room was heavily stained in many areas, which detracted from the overall appearance of the hotel. In addition, security was comparatively lax, although typical of an older style hotel.

- in winter there is only heater. If the room is too hot , the only solution is opening the window.

The furnishing was a little old fashioned but did not detract from comfort. Quiet location but central to main shopping areas.
The location was great. Hotel room was big and clean. There's a sofa with TV, great amenities. Just right in the shopping street, 15-18 minutes from Kumamoto station, which you can walk or take the tram (few mins differences).
