Kikunan Onsen Ubl Hotel

Kikunan is such a nice hot apring spa hotel. Healthy breakfast buffet and the restaurant serves beautiful, delicious dinner courses. Convenient location to Kumamoto city and sightseeing.

A nice room, many hot springs and friendly, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast buffet and the restaurant's wonderful dinner course combined Japanese " kaiseki " and western dishes. Without a car, getting to Kumamoto city center was easy because the bus stop is in front of the hotel.

The rock bath onsen situated within the hotel premises. The bed was comfortable too!

Was staying in the older units that need a makeover.

Very nice hotel, with a good-quality onsen. Its affiliated public onsen facility, Agannasse, is very nice too. I’ll definitely go there again in my next visit to Kumamoto.

Staff Cooperation

There was no coffee or supermarket, or many options for restaurants

The shower head wasn’t working properly and water was leaking from the shower head

The staff changed our room because it was very noisy- due to so many families staying over a long weekend . The staff very kindly upgraded us free of charge to a bigger much quieter room. Access to the spa next door was great.

Really great value for money. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Room was spacious and comfortable. Drinks with dinner were reasonably priced. Entry provided to next door spa which was super nice and they even posted some stuff we had left in the room after. 10/10

The breakfast is good. The complimentary onsen in Akahnase is good ,also

The room is relative old and the air condiction is old with mild odor. The noise of pipe is relative loud at night. The suurouding enviorement is not good and diffucult to find a good restaurant. We only can get the food in a convenience store far more than 10 min walking distance.

The bed was great, and even though I didn't speak Japanese they tried their best for me

the Onsen was absolutely amazing, they also provide tickets for the Onsen next door but just use the hotels Onsen

Breakfast is good!

This is not the hotel's problem but my problem. I travelled to Kumamoto for 1 night stay, thought maybe I will do some shopping, sightseeing and dinner before checking in a hotel. There are many choices near the Kumamoto center but I picked this one becuase it has onsen). it is a 20 minutes drive from city but ok, but the hotel doesn't feel like a onsen hotel. And the onsen is indeed a local spa/onsen club open to public, hotel provides you an access coupon (just once that cost Y1,600). Crowded I didn't enjoy. And this hotel cost as much as Kumamoto Nikko Hotel at city center that is a 5 star hotel. If I had to decide again, I will use the price I paid to stay at city center 5 star, forget about Onsen, go inside the mountain there are plenty.
