Sotetsu Grand Fresa Kumamoto

The hotel is nothing special, but is very solid in every way. I would definitely stay here again.The location is absolutely excellent, directly next to the shopping and restaurant area.

Parking was a bit complicated. They only offer discounts at surrounding parking lots but there were times when they were all full and we had to park rather far away. But the parking issue seems to be a bit of a universal experience in Kumamoto. I don’t think other places are better.

Clean rooms, well designed space, I like the headboard with lighting and plenty of spaces to put phones and stuff. Location is decent with lots of dining and shopping options nearby, easily accessible by cars and taxi, we hired a van to take our family of 8 around, and driver had no problem. Breakfast is complete with Asian and western options and was never crowded. Staff is great, very attentive and helpful.

Location is a bit off the main shopping arcade, so it's an extra block of walk to get to tram. There is only one coffee machine at breakfast, not really a problem because with all the food variety, coffee is really an afterthought.

Location was great. Behind a small alley, but it is just a 2mins walk to Sunroad Shinshigai which is an old fashioned shopping street with plenty of food and shops. Kumamoto Castle is not that far off too, around 20mins walk I think.Room and facilities were great too. Strong hot water from the taps/shower, and a nice range of food at breakfast.

Extremely kind & helpful receptionists. Quick check-in, plus they gave me top floor room w/ view of Kumamoto Castle. Impeccably clean. Comfortable bed. And then there’s the nifty coffee packets. Very close to Main Street and the castle.

The location is wonderful. It's super easy to get access to the convenience store and the shopping area. You can also get a taxi around the corner. The facilities were very clean, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We didn't reserve a rental car in advance, and on the day we planned to go to Mt. Aso, Toyota Car Retal told us that there were no cars. Not knowing what to do, we returned to the hotel and asked the front desk to help us. Within seconds, they found another car rental venue for us. They saved our day! It's a hotel that I would recommend to anyone who wants to visit Kumamoto.

This hotel is located in town right next to the arcades, shopping/mall and not a far walk to the castle. It is a basic room but super clean with a modern bathroom. For the price you can't beat it.

Wonderful hotel right by a bustling shopping district. Not only are you greeted with a display of Kumamon as you walk up to the lobby, but the staff is super helpful and courteous. They not only provided my clearly overheated self with cooling items such as wipes and shampoos, but also offered me delightful bath salts! The room was so spacious and super comfortable. Also there's a microwave at every floor so even though my feet were killing me, I could easily heat up the food I bought next door at the corner store. Honestly, it was probably one of my fav hotels of my trip!

The dryers with the washing machines were terrible. After drying for two hours, I had to hang all my clothes in my room since everything was still damp.

great location. close to the walking street, center of bistros, easy to find local food with delicious taste and reasonable price. Plenty of self serve supply, very caring. Helpful staffs, but also easy use machine to check in and out.

It is right by a street arcade/mall that has a lot of restaurants and shops. It is very close to Kumamoto castle, and buses and trams are convenient as well. Comfortable rooms. Laundry was convenient, too.

We arrived late and had to leave early so we couldn't enjoy all the facilities but the room was nice and comfortable, the stuff kind and helpful, we could park the car in the basement for a reasonable price and the neighborhood offers lots of shops and restaurants.

Good location for shoppers! Machi Naka (similar to most popular shopping places such as Sunroad, Kamitori, Shimotori) is nearby, and there’re many clothes stores, pharmacy stores and restaurants in walking distance. Even in rainy days, it’s comfortable to go shopping under arcade shopping areas. It takes 5-10 minutes walking to Sakura Machi Bus Terminal, affordable prices with confortable room and great location!

Even though there’s a window, for safety concern, I don’t open window and curtains. So, there’s no view and natural light coming in my lower-floor-room.

A clean and lovely hotel that is well-located and right next to the shopping arcade, which is convenient for meals and shopping. Rooms were clean and spacious.

Location was great, walkable to most places we wanted to go so we did not use our car while in Kumamoto. Easy to get parking, even though the parking opposite the hotel was not a discounted parking lot (not 1 of the 3 suggested by the hotel), we parked there anyway out of sheer convenience. Property was very clean, check in and check out was super efficient as it was all automated and self-service. The room was large (we paid for a bigger room) and we were able to move around with ease.
