Comfort Hotel Kumamoto Shinshigai

Breakfast was Great, Buffet style with long duration, from 0630 to 0930.

Parking Lot next to the building gets full on the weekend because everyone that goes to the Shopping district parks there. Parking is also steep so lowdown cars might have a hard time parking.

The hotel was perfect. Walking distance to heart of city and Kumomoto Castle. Close to grocery and restaurants. The breakfast was really good.Very clean and service was excellent.

Little far from the train station. You need to take the tram to get here. If you have big luggage I would taxi here

The location is very good. It's close to plenty of shopping and lots of restaurant options, and the Sakura Machi mall is practically across the street. The price was reasonable and the rooms were about the average size that you get in Japan. The room was clean, as is to be expected in Japan. :-)

The hotel is non-smoking, or at least my reservation was for a non-smoking room/floor, yet people were clearly smoking on the floor (in their rooms). When I notified the front desk, however, they did move me to a different floor and then everything was fine. :-)Breakfast was nothing to write home about, but since it was free, I can't really complain. :-)There really wasn't anything especially appealing about the hotel, so I probably wouldn't stay there again.

Spacious twin room with window view of Kumamoto Castle. Reasonable breakfast and self service coffee corner till 2400hrs. Paid parking is just beside hotel.

Flat pillow and room temp is cool on one night and warm on another night.

Great location for those who come by train to visit the castle. Good condition. Good breakfast. Good price / quality ratio. I would choose again.

The facilities are a little old.

Fuss-free hotel with all the basic necessities including toiletries. Comes with breakfast although breakfast end time is early - 9.30am but it is uniform throughout all the hotels in Japan. Staff is helpful too.

Rooms are small for 2 adults but just right for 1 adult and 1 preschooler

It is located in a shopping arcade Sakaidori in easy reach of new Shinshigai railway station tramway and amazing Kumamoto castle .Due to this easy access I was able to visit the castle and Botanic gardens in the same day .

There is always a comment about the size of the rooms in Japanese hotels but after three weeks travelling I am accustomed to this now .

Friendly staff during breakfast and check-in/ out procedure. Room size typical for Japanese business hotel. Location is great for nightlife and restaurants. It's also only an 8 minute walk to Kumamoto castle.

My room was very hot and stuffy and they were able to adjust individual rooms apparently

The buffet does the trick to cater to different breakfast palates. The space is a bit cramped and lit too harshly for me.

Unit bathroom cleanliness could’ve been a bit more thorough

Located right beside a sheltered shopping street with lots of restaurants, café, fastfood and shops. Hotel services is great and staffs helpful. Overnight (multistorey) parking at 1000 is right beside the hotel where you collect the parking ticket and pay at hotel reception for discounted price. Reception and breakfast (included in booking) and complimentary coffee, tea, water are all at Level 3. So after parking one have to get down to ground level to take hotel lift to reception. Room space is larger than my previous 2 hotel stay and can place on floor at large size luggage. Breakfast although simple one had varieties more than enough for a good breakfast. TV has at least a U-tube channel so won't get bored with local Jap channel you can't understand. Highly recommended.

Room is very well designed, for work is very good. Very central and well connected. Lot's of restaurants, shops, etc.

In this hotel the room key must be given to the staff at the counter every time you go out of the hotel, this is not negative per se. But very often, at the counter, other people are checking-in, and you need to wait in line up to 20-30 minutes just to handle or to take the key to/from the staff.I suggest the hotel manager, to solve this problem, either by giving a preferential line only for this key matter, or at least every checked-in person, ask if in the waiting line there are people waiting only for the giving or the taking of the key for their room
