    • Room was a little small where I barely managed to open my 24-inch luggage. But this is to be expected for hotels in Japan.

Staff Staff StaffAbsolutely amazing staff. You don’t realize how nice it is to have front reception staff be so cordial, welcoming, and friendly. From pre check-in holding of my luggage in the lobby to after check-in where my bag was already in my room waiting for me. The attention to detail is quite remarkable. The rooms were a decent size for Japan- that is.Air conditioning is also very much working as needed - unlike Korea where they sometimes have a central system which they don’t turn on until it’s stupid hot out..Additionally there’s a wonderful staff member named Murakami San who is an amazing artist. She drew these cute little drawings for me to indicate my packages from Amazon I had delivered to the hotel. But they also offer fun personalized drawings you can request at the front as well.I never asked for them, but was given them anyway which was a very fun little surprise to look forward to when I got back.Free 4 hr bicycle rental/everyday extra 200jpy after 4hrsTruly amazing service. The public bath in the first floor is also never crowded, other cities - generally will have pretty bad crowding due to the flocks of people going to the bigger cities, but this one is well maintained and is cleaned daily. They also have laundry machines down below? Including ones that do wash n dry in the same machine. ?Location is just at the mouth of the Okaido shopping area giving you easy access to the tram to head up to Dogo which honestly is dumb far away from everything. Near okaido is perfectly fine ?

It’s true, the other reviews mention that it’s dated, but I’ve also been to newer hotels where I’ve had to wait 10min just to catch the elevator down to the first floor where as this one - whereas they have two elevators one always on the ground floor and another on the 5th to service those on higher floors. But dated ≠ dirtyMy room was spotless, and they don’t nickle and dime you on towels and stuff either unlike other places.Just wish there was a combini a bit closer ?But there’s nothing I can do about that. Nearest one is either two blocks north or two blocks south of the hotel. The breakfast… luckily I only paid for breakfast once but for almost 1000jpy the breakfast was pretty bad..Most places for that price would give you a fantastic breakfast buffet - like the place I stayed at the day before that had local tangerines and grilled seabream, hand made pork katsu etc..I got a pre-prepped box with some obviously frozen katsu and other bits and bobs left to cool and absorb the humidity of the morning rainy weather.. and even when the curry ‘soup’ ran out, there was no indication of any want of refilling it.. for the price I could’ve definitely gotten a better quality meal at yoshinoya ?The breakfast game is weak unfortunately. They need to up the quality and appeal to more of the guests, as for some - it’s actually something people look forward to. I half wanted to stay an extra night at the other place I went to before here because of the fantastic food they had for their breakfast ~ dinner buffet.

Friendly staffs and convenient location, easy to access to main sighting spots.A public bath. Good for value.

The twin room was great, spacious and with a large desk where two persons can use a laptop simultaneously. The charging ports were organized very well, available both for the desk and the beds, and it was very convenient. The bathroom and shower were also in top condition. The staff was very welcoming, and the guidebook shown at check in is so cute!

Great location close to castle and restaurants with nice onsen to relax in after sightseeing. Room was fine. Female staff who checked me in was nice and friendly and spoke clear and steady Japanese to me to guide me through the process as I was using Japanese. I wish every check in I experience in Japan using Japanese was as good as this.

Great location. Staff were very friendly even with the language barrier. Onsen in the hotel is also brilliant and open all night too. Would stay again.

The bed only had one pillow which isn't a huge problem but at least two would've been nice.

Nice room, bathroomFriendly staffVery well priced

A bit of distance from Matsuyama station but not a huge issue

    7JoshuaPosted on: 2-26-2025

The hotel is in a fantastic location, very close to Okaido and Matsuyama Castle. The staff were pleasant and I got a good night sleep both nights after getting an extra pillow. The mattress is fairly firm which was pleasant for sleeping and when getting the extra pillow, I was offered between three different types. The hotel was very accommodating and the staff were fantastic!

Unfortunately, on the day of the check out, the shower pressure dropped which made it difficult, this happened the night before but was only as I was stepping out that it dropped. Also, the hotel is very clean but it does have a strong smell of detergent/bleach. I got used to it very quickly and it only bothered me when I had left and came back for a while.Despite these two things, the hotel was great!

The hotel was neither grand nor new

    7ErikaPosted on: 10-20-2024

The location was perfect and close to restaurant and shops. The onsen was nice and the staff were very nice.

    6FatimahPosted on: 9-25-2024

It was close to the castle and got it at a good rate.

The bed was sunken and not very comfortable. The shower had low pressure but maybe that’s because they have an onsen on site.

    9KristofferPosted on: 9-21-2024

Friendly staff, very clean and well equipped with all sorts of facilities including a hot spring bath. The location is great too, Matsuyama Castle is in walking distance and Dogo Onsen is a short ride by tram away.

The hotel has a bit of a weathered and old look, but that's okay!

    8KaiPosted on: 9-5-2024

I really liked the onsen and that you have the option to have a massage. Unfortunately, this was not in your room.

The smell of the room was a little bit weird.

    3TedPosted on: 9-5-2024

The location was pretty convenient. It's a short walk from the tram stop, so it was easy to get around.

If you have to say your hotel is "New", it's probably not actually very new. That is definitely the case here. I was placed in the East building, whose elevator and stairwell had a strong smell. The first room I was given also had a strange smell, and there was black mold practically crawling out of the air conditioner. I realize that basically all air conditioners in Japan have mold in them anyways, but in this case, it was even all over the flap that directs the air, and clearly obvious to anyone as soon as you turn on the air conditioner. I've lived in Japan for almost three years and been to quite a few hotels, but I've never seen such a moldy air conditioner before. Also, it seemed that the air conditioner was the source of the strange smell in the room.I asked for a change of room because of the mold, and they gave me another one at the end of the hall which had very little visible mold in the AC and still smelled a bit, but not that bad. The room contained an air purifier, which I considered switching on, but first I checked the filter. It's a good thing I did, because the filter was also chock-full of black mold. I know that mold is prevalent in Japan, but if you're going to put an air purifier in the room, you should at least make sure the filter is reasonably clean. Additionally, as stated before, the room was at the end of the hall, and the wifi didn't reach past the entrance. When sitting at the desk or on the bed, I couldn't get a wifi signal. Thankfully, I had my own pocket wifi, so it wasn't an issue, but I expect that would be a deal-breaker for anyone relying on hotel wifi for internet connection.

First of all, all has to be seen in the relation of the paid price.16m2 room (the larger type) for JPY 5.800 plus a very modest JPY 950 for a set menu of Japanese breakfast is a bargain more than you can ask for. Therefore my expectations were not set too high.Bottom line, my expectations were exceeded in all aspects.Ofcourse this hotel is a business hotel meeting the Japanese standard in terms of check in / check out rulings, the standard set of rules and regulations, the nationwide common squeeze of a unit type bathroom, standard bed, desk, etc. What makes this hotel stick out of the mass, is its friendly and sincere personnel, the fantastic public bath, top notch location and last but not least an agreeable set of breakfast to an agreeable price.Different to my fellow travelers, WIFI was speedy, no set up nor connection issues. All top notch.Basically there is nothing to complain about. If I paid double, I would surely be shopping for complaints and petite issues. All in all, it was a nice stay, helpful and friendly staff, decent lodgings, prime location.

If I paid more, I‘d be nagging more.

A great option for a solo traveller if you get a better deal from Booking on this accommodation. The prices can vary a lot, so that's also a reason why I didn't extend my stay. I love the shared baths – 2 baths in the female section and the water of the onsen one was just 36 degrees, which makes it bearable to stay for a longer period. Also, the room was huge enough to comfortably fit and open my luggage while still having some space for a morning stretch.

I had a piece of garbage left on the floor after the previous customer, but it was a bit "hidden", so I guess the cleaning service just overlooked it. Also, the bed is on the wheels and therefore can move a bit when you sit in it.

    9JoachimPosted on: 4-17-2024

Very good hotel for the price. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room was business hotel standard. Window could be opened. Located directly at the main shopping district. Public bath that was also accessible to the public at certain hours. As for the current construction work: the men’s bath was fully functional and open despite of one smallish hot pool.
