Pros +
- Breakfast was fantastic. Bath was lovely, if a bit crowded at times. The staff was very helpful, especially with luggage transfer arrangements. Thank you!!
- Imibari was a surprisingly nice location to stay. We had come to do some biking on the Shaminami Kaido and we were pleased that the hotel was within walking distance of the bike rentals (train station), easy walking to the castle, and there were plenty of restaurants close by. Our rooms had spectacular views of the castle, the city, and the Seto Inland Sea. The breakfast room had very nice garden views with a very nice breakfast buffet. The onsen was well-worth the extra cost. The room was nice but very tightly furnished with an excellent shower/bath.
- Very quiet
Cons -
- The beds were as hard as a rock. I don’t mind a firm bed, but these were terrible. The decor is also a bit dated, and the furniture is getting a bit worn. Not a reason not to stay (the beds are a bigger negative) but for the price I expected a bit more polish in the rooms.
- The room was well-furnished but all those furnishings made it a bit tight in the room. The rooms are probably due for refurbishment but we still found it all quite comfortable.
- Expensive for what you get. Very long in the tooth with all kinds of overpriced tourist shops that nobody cares about. They didn’t have my public bath payment that I’m quite sure I booked with the room.

I liked the location. The staff were great; they went out of the way to accommodate you.
There was obvious water damage on the floor we were on which made the floor and room musty. The carpets throughout the hotel need to be cleaned. I booked a 2 hour massage. I had to lay on the floor even though there was a massage table. I have a bad back and it was very uncomfortable. I’ve never had such a bad massage in all massages I’ve received from my travels throughout the world.
Tallest building in the area and the most pretty - I was at the 15th floor and I had amazing view of the bridge and the sea and the castle. My room was very very luxurious and spacious. The breakfast was nice, not many dessert options. The breakfast is right by a beautiful garden with big waterfalls and it was amazing to eat there, I took many pictures. The lobby is also amazing and huge. Everything is very boutique. Hope they won’t raise their prices, it’s very worth it right now (about ¥14K). I saw there’s a train station close by but I got there by car, the parking costs money but I would’ve parked at a different location if I knew.
The bed is huge, but kind of uncomfortable. The Japanese toilet is decent but I’ve had way better toilets at way worse hotels. I misread the onsen opening hours and missed it in the morning. I would book again in a heartbeat though.
The (public) onsen was good, although I was surprised that as a hotel guest I had to pay. The dinner I had (tepannaki) on the 15th floor was delicious.
Breakfast, the hotel was very busy and breakfast had been set-up in a large meeting room, it was noisy, the food was average and overall I was not particularly pleased.
Room was large and clean. Staff was efficient and polite, and breakfast was good. Food at the Chinese restaurant was better than fair.
Excellent hotel. Helpful staff.. Spacious comfortable rooms. Bathroom ok. Chinese and Japanese restaurants in hotel. Excellent little one a few meters away called 922
Western breakfast terrible. We were asked to leave at 9:30 and then really insisted on it.1 parking is a large public lot across the street. Not really inconvenient. They give a voucher after paying discount. Strange that they gave a massive parking lot behind the hotel for tour buses.
Great spa with indoor and outdoor baths. Room was spacious. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of choices. Staff were exceptional.
Felt very fancyNice selection of restaurants directly in the buildingNot far from plenty of other good izakayas and restaurantsTop floor bar is coolTwin room was very spacious and had a great bathroom
Hot spring/spa is not included in the room rate which is a big shame. It's quite pricey to goA bit far to walk from the station
Convenient and comfortable. Staff were absolutely delightful—our special thanks to A and S Matsui and Murakami for all their help. Onsen was spacious, quiet (4pm) and relaxing. Room was comfortable and clean. Hotel is rather glitzy and old-school, but staff were very gracious and made our stay so worthwhile. Check out Red Peppers’ Club izakaya for a delicious and quirky supper!
Marble and gold decor
The staff were great and breakfast was delicious
The room was very tired and really needed to be refurbished .The cream satin headboard was soiled and yellowed and the carpet had seen better days.
Location, nice sized rooms. Very clean. Close to bus station.
Proximity to the castle
I paid for a double bed room, I've been given a twin room, and everyone is very polite but not very successful at actually addressing the issues raised. The carpet was super dirty. It is not a 4-star hotel, it's at best a 3 star hotel. The reception area is impressive, but I would not stay there again.
I chaecked in during a day that Typhone flooded the area- I was walking in the water and became all wet and decided to shorten my walk for that day. I arrived at the hotel about 3 hours before the formal check-in time and set at the lobby till check in time.Other than that wet experience all was well . A few hours later everything dried and I went out to a nearby convini to get some food. My room was in a high floor and had a nice city view, In the morning I had breakdfast in the dinning room buffet - paid extra. Buffet was good and tasty.I think it was my most fancy hotel in this current henro trip and I do not regret it.
I would have appreciated If I could get my room earlier under the special flood circumnstance.
I am travelling to Imabari a lot for business and I am always trying to stay at Imabari Kokusai Hotel as I like it the most. The staff is very helpful and friendly, so that I always feel very comfortable. The Onsen inside is one of my favourite places and I am always enjoying it during my stay in the hotel.
Unfortunately, Imabari Kokusai Hotel is very popular for Chinese people, which is why there are always a lot of Chinese guests, who are not behaving well. If they behaved a bit better, all other guests would feel a bit more comfortable.Despite that I do not have any complaints.
Excellent hotel. Very professional staff. Grand entrance lobby. Good sized bedroom with comfortable bed/pillows. Excellent breakfast. Good views over the inland sea from top floors
big Hotel , well organized
Outdated, brakfast really not good (loveless and unimaginative, western and asian)
Spacious room, with a good view of the sea. Lovely spa, which was not included in my plan, but only 1100 yen per day, with multiple visits allowed. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the ladies in the spa and reception staff who helped with my luggage transfer. Have already booked another visit.
Location was great, there were lots of facilities nearby, the hotel was much more grand than I expected and the comfort level was excellent. My view looked out on the floodlit castle at night. Highly recommended
