Pros +
- I arrived early and staff were welcoming and helpful as they agreed to keep my luggage ready for check-in later. The location is for someone visiting Kurashiki for the first time: leabe the JR station on the side where the Tourist Information is located - very helpful and friendly staff here. Down the escalator next to Tourist Information, cross a busy road, and then continue straight down along the main road for a few minutes. Looking up, and on the right-hand side, you can see the name on the side of the hotel. Despite the busy road outside, my room was quiet. Directly across this road is one of several shopping arcades: a variety of restaurants around. The Bikan (main tourist area) is about ten minutes walk. I chose to visit the Achi Shrine - top of a wooded park - before joining the crowds. The Bikan area is wonderfully peaceful early morning and evening (after 17.00). It's fun to walk around at any time. If you have time, I recommend taking a JR train to Bitchu-Takahashi: the samurai houses are a delight to visit, with wonderfully welcoming and enthusiastic staff.I would certainly stay at the Green Rich Hotel Kurashiki again.
- close to the traditional section of the city, parking available (but only about 15 cars), onsen was pretty nice
- Very clean & convenient location for sightseeing, eating.Public Bath makes me relax.
Cons -
- mediocre breakfast
- The area was very quiet and the room small
- They offer breakfast for 1200 yen but it is probably not appealing for those looking for a continental buffet breakfast. If you are vegetarian, don't pay up front -- in the morning, look what they have and pay if you think there is enough for you to eat (unlikely). The breakfast is a bit too early, from 6:30 - 9:30. The room was a little small, with a narrow space between the bed and desk, but this is normal in Japan.

Onsen,, the size of room, friendly staff, great location, clean and comfortable . Could get extra pillows and robes . Was a great stay
I liked the onsen and the proximity of the hotel to the Shin Osaka station
The area was very quiet and the room small
Handy place from Kurashiki Station and the Bikan area. I could relax in the Onsen bath on the 2nd floor.
The hotel provided all of the essentials that we look for -- clean, good location, good soundproofing, decent private bathroom, window/natural light, double bed. We enjoyed having a bathtub. We didn't use the sento (hot baths), but they said that small tattoos would be tolerated as long as you cover them up. In the winter the room was a comfortable temperature without requiring us to turn on the AC/heating. They provide room cleaning or new towels on request. The main attraction -- the canal and old town -- is just a minute's walk away.

Onsen LocationSpacious room
Reception hall was a bit boring, maybe it needs a better design and decoration
Close to the historic district. Provided as much coffee as you wanted. Comfortable bed. Nice tub to soak in. Quiet place
Good location with car park
Staff did not want to reserve a restaurant for us
It was a good experience from the beginning! The building itself and the lobby/entrance is very modern and clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they made me feel very welcome. The room itself was great; spacious (for 1 person), clean, and comfortable bed. The view I had from my room was amazing too! The location is the best part, easy short walk to/from the train station and the historical district for tourist sightseeing. Many restaurants and convenience stores right next door too. This place is great value for money.
This was our cheap night after a Ryokan. It was fantastic value for money. Lacked nothing higher priced ones had - the Onsen was great. Breakfast not to our taste but we are in a different country so don’t expect different, we knew this might well be the case. Fab VFM.
Wish we’d known how good the chain were beforehand- might have saved a few Yen
Convenient location - easy walking distance from the station and basically on the edge of Bikan historical quarter. Comfortable bed, hot bath on-site, which is a great feature to have.
Check-in time (3 pm) is a bit late, it is 2 pm in most other places. The 'Hot Spring" probably does not qualify for such a name - it is very basic hot bath (although it is still a very welcome feature).
If you want to see the historical district, this place is great for that. The massage chair in the room is actually really nice if you give it a chance, and at first i thought the TV placement was too high but its actually perfect when you lie down on the bed.
The location was great, only a short walk from the old town and train station. The staff was friendly.
We had a smoking room and the smell was a bit unbearable. It was okay in the room, but damn did the corridor smell bad. It had a stain on the bed, I felt a bit grossed out.
Clean and spacious room and big bath area.
The onsen was really nice. All clean. Very quiet. Comfy bed. Good price. Great location.
Better than most business hotels. Very nice bath. Great location, edge of the historical quart
The twin bed room is spacious, it equipped with a sofa in front of the television.
Good location only a few minutes walk from Kurashiki station, with lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. I would definitely stay here again.
