Pros +
- Proximity to ferry and train
- Convenient and close to ferry
- Very clean. Not fancy but very good value , quiet and pleasant.
Cons -
- This hotel is very rundown and old
- The place was VERY difficult to get into since there is NO staff at the place. It was a series of trial and error with codes, locks, etc.
- The bathroom was absolutely filthy-grimy, muddy. There was no potable drinking water on the premises with one tiny bottle left. No staff onsite. The bed was a thin foam mat on a wooden pallet. The AC was not working. There was only a paper thin window covering and the noise from the street was extremely loud.

Appalling

We liked the mixture of modern and traditional. Great shower and bath.
I found the instructions for entering confusing. It was hard to read in the dark and the card with the information was at an awkward height. The map of the inn and directions to our room were also confusing. We couldn’t figure out how to turn on the light over the sink. The bidet was not working.
It's a great location nearby the ferry if you're planning on visiting Naoshima island. The room has a microwave and mini fridge, which was very handy, and were given out fresh towels daily. There's shops and restaurants nearby too.
The check-in system is not too easy to grasp. And as our room was located next to the entrance, we could hear all the people struggling to get in as it set off the alarm. The windows go out to the street so it gets quite noisy, but they give out complimentary ear-plugs!
Lovely room, but walls were very thin and we could hear the room next door and upstairs very clearly, the road outside the hostel was also very loud.
The alarm went off every time someone entered or left the building. Matras too old. Lamps and other electric things made loud buzzing noises.
Location to UNO ferry. There are some good little restaurants in the area.
The check in and the building entry process is awkward. The washroom area was cold and the heated seat was not functional!
We were worried having read previous reviews but we had no issues at all - the room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. There was parking as well. Really good value for money, would book again.
The check-in/out process was a faff but that was the only negative thing.
Perfect for our night’s stay in Tamano before our ferry. Clean, spacious, not too expensive and a short walk to train/port/restaurants.
Old in ambiance but it was an overall good stay. The owner seemed like an artist as well, there were paintings inside the roomwe stayed at.
There was no flush or bidet to use.
Comfy room for 2, sep from bathroom & toilet but all ok.
Convoluted check in process.
The location near the ferry and the station. Quiet and cozy once you pass the... check in. Nice and clean.
Check in. Reminds me when they book somebody in jail. The only thing the tablet did not ask me was for digital prints and a full body cavity search... I guess only because it was a self booking... So it did not feel so bad ;-)
In a very good location to visit Naoshima and to arrive by train
Mattress was a little thin. Luckily I was able to double up on my mattresses as I had a twin room for a solo traveller but would have struggled otherwise. And like others are saying… it’s kind of sad that there’s no staff on hand to help.
There was no breakfast. This must be a generic survey which was how we felt you dealt with your guests. The location was very good and central to all we wanted to do.
The check in system was very painful. We were locked out twice during our stay as the key pad was not working and we got no response to our texting for help.Rooms were nice and clean but the communal areas such as the laundry had had no attention for ages.
Location is extremely convenient and a few minutes walk to Uno port and station. Perfect location for those going to Naoshima and Teshima. The twin room was spacious and comfortable.
As many pointed out, there is no staff at the facility, and even though I have already done previously check-ins with no staff, this one was particularly tricky and took some time. Also they didn’t provide the wifi password until after the check in was completed through a message on Booking, which doesn’t make any sense for those who don’t have already a pocket wifi with them as they can’t access the app without it. It should be written also in the room somewhere.
Had enough space and a little window. Liked the stainless steel deep bath tub.
Our room was right next to the laundry so very loud when it’s in use.
Really loved the character of the place , art works and the attention to detail in the bedrooms
With no staff present it would be nice to have secure baggage storage. Some Japanese tea would be good.Trying to work out how to switch the light off?
Close proximity to boats and town.
Tricky to navigate entrance and separate toilets and bathrooms all with their own key. Public bath was not attractive. It needs an overhaul.
