This was our fourth stay at the Sonnet. Clearly, we like the place. I have reviewed the Sonnet on all my previous visits and so there is not much to add. The Sonnet continues to provide good value for money. The location right next to City Centre Mall is great. There is ample parking right outside which is great since parking can often be an issue in Kolkata. The staff are friendly. The breakfast is quite good. We had two rooms with a large double bed, a desk and additional seating. Our room had a large sofa but some rooms have a two-seater couch. I really appreciate the desk since it allows one to do work if one wishes.

Overall. I continue to recommend the Sonnet as good value for money. But I have to say that the property is growing old and there are some wears and tears. In our bathroom (410) the water in the shower did not drain properly flooding the entire floor. We also often had to ask for things like towels. Again, these are minor issues and for those looking for a comfortable stay in the Salt Lake area, The Sonnet continues to offer good value for money. During this particular stay, I stayed at the Ibis and Lynq Aero, both in the general area of Salt Lake New Town and all in the same price range (IBIS was a little more expensive and Lynq Aero a little cheaper); of the three I would probably rate the Sonnet the highest in terms of dollar for dollar comfort.

The In Room Dining facility is absolutely terrible. Infact the hotel was great but the entire room service and reception staff were terrible.

In room Dining service, Room Service in General, Staff of the hotel. Customer service doesnt exist in this place. In fact they harass you as many time in your room not giving you privacy and knocking on the door for unnecessary things even after clear communication to them not to disturb.

Location is good

The property needs urgent renovation rooms on 3rd floor were very bad not worth the charges

We had to call 3 to 4 times for room service then only I would get that service .

The curtains are good and the AC works good.

The toilet has plumbing issues. Smells disgusting from the pot. No provision of warm water from the taps. Dilapidated room without any provision of drinking water . Bed side lamps were not working and the reception desk lady was very rude and pestered to check out continuously.

Room was pretty decent, though the location is absolutely fantastic. The room rate was a bit steep, but the facilities were decent to boot. Never got enough time to check out the restaurant and fitness centre, though.

Nothing comes to mind, as such.

The hotel, restaurant, rooms - all were great. The Personnel is really fantastic! Makes you feel comfortable, provides you with all the necessary info and is ready to help at any time (literally, also 4 AM ;-) )All the amenities you need are there.

Just a comment/observation which may be found useful:I was in a large room with a door to another room, which means the entire "flat" can be rented together, I guess. I do not know if that's the case for all the rooms, but in this particular one, you could hear everything that was happening behind the wall. Given the fact the family there was quite numerous and loud (TV on max), this was quite disturbing. You may want to pay attention to that. The guests who came afterwards were in addition smoking inside (which is forbidden). The personnel should be aware of that and draw consequences.But again - it is not the hotel's fault, but guests...

TOILETS HAVE HUGE WATER DRAINAGE ISSUES, UNMATCHED PRESSURE AND FLOOR OF TOILET TOTAL MAT MISMATCH

The Managers and all the support staff acknowledged their mistake and provided an alternate room after we complained. They were very apologetic and accommodating. All the staff in the restaurant were very polite and paid good attention to the needs of the customer. The cleaning crew were good and helpful.

We checked in on May 13th, 2024. The initial room allocated to us had construction on top of the roof and it was on the 5th floor. From next morning, there was constant pounding and heavy machinery work and it caused real health issues for my spouse who is 72 years of age. We could not rest at all the very next day of our long flight from USA. I had a pounding headache in the morning.We were not given in discounts for all the trouble we encountered for almost 2 days before a solution was provided. I am requesting Booking.com to add some dollars/rupees to our account to address this grievance.

The room was comfortable. Lovely stay.

What I didn't like is AC didn't work. Terrible AC condition. No warm water

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL EVER.

EVERYTHING. The hotel is a disaster, starting from the staff to the entire experience, this property was the worst. There was construction noise every morning starting from morning, and even after multiple complaints, it didn’t stop. The staff behaviour is the worst ever, and my time at the property was nothing less than a disaster. I got a massive headache due to the loud noises going on throughout the day.

The location of the property is very nice and comfortable. Although there is difficulty with getting rooms facing MRT. The wifi connection is very poor and the bathroom is old . The bathtub is non-functional with almost no hot water available .

At night few other peoples in our floor was drinking and making loud noises till late night and there was no intervention from the hotel management to stop that. It was very disturbing .

Location is great. Food is good.

Some counseling is necessary to one lady at the reception. She asked for advance money for 8 nights of two room at the time of checking which I have not seen any other hotels of 5 star since I stayed number of 5 star hotels in Kolkata like Merriut,Taj and ITC etc.Please check it.
