Rutherford Hotel Nelson - A Heritage Hotel

Location was great. Beds very comfortable. Staff friendly.

Noisy aircon units outside window of one room. Road noise and rubbish collection. Also staff door and lift right outside room meant some disturbance in the morning.

This hotel is old school and has great views over Nelson from the rooms. The bar and restaurants are great and the heart of the city is 1mn walk away. The Staff is great and the check and check out process is very easy.

The fragrant diffuser is very chemical and a little overwhelming and in my view completely unnecessary, if anything it would alienate a few guests.One of the 2 elevators was out of service on the day I was there which meant the wait was quite long.

Lovely quiet hotel within a short walk of the shops and cafes Excellent staff , knowledgeable about the area , where to dine etc Would happily stay here again!

It was hot when we were in Nelson and it took a long time for the room to cool down to a comfortable level.

This is a favourite hotel of ours , feels like coming home . The hotel is clean, the beds are comfortable, the showers are fab. The staff are the best, knowledgible on the area , helpful and always happy to help with anything . They always have a cheery word to say when you see them.

Nice big room overlooking Nelson Cathedral. Good WiFi, and tv. Staff v helpful when we needed them.

Seemed to be a bit hit and miss with the car parking, sometimes free on the street, sometimes paid car park nearby.

The family rooms are comfortable and roomy. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Decor and facilities were a bit dated.

Nice large room, decent buffet breakfast, nice views over city, good location walkable to town and great restaurants.

Elevators seemed to be quite glitchy, regularly down to one. Pool too cold for swimming even in summer and the gym gear is very old and tired.

Bed and pillows were extremely comfy and its a great location to everything. Shower was amazing and it was all very great. Staff were friendly too.

The facilities were great and the stay was mostly pleasant, the hotel has a lovely heritage vibe and has a really great location.

I honestly would have rated the place closer to a 7 or 8 but right as I was checking out, as they needed to return my rooms $200 damages bond, the lady at the service desk accused my partner and I of stealing a bloody mug (coffee cup) of all things. She came off quite rude especially when I stood my ground on having not even touched the glassware besides one wine glass. What a ridiculous thing to try and pin on someone, it honestly left a rather bad taste in our mouths after what was actually a reasonably nice stay.Maybe some more thorough inventory checks are in order before each new guests arrive.If you're planning on staying here, just make sure you take note of what's actually there to keep yourself safe from such silly accusations.

The location is excellent, near the park and the Travalgar street with some good restaurants. Spacious room, parking charges not expensive for a secured area.

Right near the main town centre mall with lots of restaurant options. Facilities were great. Friendly staff. Loved the pillow menu. Room service was quick. Easy parking available.

The instructions for parking were confusing so it took a while for the staff to sort out this part of our stay. The room was comfortable, maybe a little tired compared to the luxurious lobby!
