Cumberland Motel

Everything was very neat and clean, the bathroom and kitchen we’re very clean, and the entire apartment was spotless and well-maintained. Vanessa, the front desk employee, was friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The room was large and well furnished, and the bed was really comfy. Excellent location, close to restaurants and shops, and conveniently close to the city center.

Really kind and accommodating staff, late check in allowed. Late notice they allowed us to stay for longer, we were dealing with an unwell/palliative family member in the hospital and they discreetly left flowers and chocolate in our room with a lovely hand written note. It was very lovely and appreciated

Good water pressure. Warm to hot water comes fast after opening the tap.

No heat pump. Use of oil heater to warm your cold bones in the winter. Oil hearer retain warmth well anyways. I was still comfortable.

After reading the reviews I was dubious but the staff were lovely and the room was clean and comfortable.

I liked that it's a whole apartment, I also liked the person who check and greeted us as he spoke to us in Te reo maori and his pronunciation was superb, bonus points.

Wonderful hosts! Got upgraded. Lovely big rooms, lovely and clean. Great value for money!

The location was close to fast food outlets with friendly staff.

The apartment was dirty, particularly carpets and counter/table tops (sticky) with rubbish left in the room from previous guests. It was generally very outdated with too-small curtains and holes/stains/rips in chattels. Not good value for money.

The room, whilst dated, was comfortable and was great for our overnight stay. Staff was excellent.

The location was central

While the staff member was lovely and very helpful the room absolutely stunk of cigarettes and old age (everything was worn and tired and stunk like the smell of furniture that can’t get clean due to years of residue building up in it. ). Us and all of our belongings and clothes stunk the next day and we were eager to go home and clean up. We had our two 8 year old girls with us which we we really didn’t like subjecting them to the smokey room. We admit the second apartment our son stayed in wasn’t as bad as ours. There was also what appeared to be vomit residue next to our front door step. The beds weren’t great. The walls are concrete blocks and the beds are all pushed up against them making for an undesirable sleeping spot. It is a shame because the location is great, the staff member was great, while the condition of everything was old, poor and dirty there was still everything you needed and the rooms are a good size but they are desperately needing a make over. We understand why it was the cheapest motel available by far and acknowledge we should have realised this was for a reason!

The location

The interior was very dated and not well maintained. Although the room was reasonably clean the duvet covers were very stained.

Location was great. Rooms were spacious and was very clean inside. Had all the amenities and staff were super friendly and accommodating.

Walking distance to hospital and main shopping. Best of all, all the fast food shops, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, etc., are just a 2-minute walk away.Beds were very hard great for my back had a good sleepshwer you had to step up, but the water pressure was fast and hot.

The location suited our stay and the size of rooms etc were good

We arrived on a rainy day with a chill in the air ,the unit was cold and provided with 2 inadequate heaters , the bathroom was like a chiller and we had to leave a heater on all night to maintain a reasonable temperature. We felt the unit was overdue for a make over. The controls for the electric blankets on the double bed was at the foot of the bed with only one power plug on the wall. One side light had no power connection at all !

We had 2 families and needed 4 bedrooms..we needed an oven and a good size living area. These units were great..old but looked after and clean ..

The flower garden was lively but needs a good weed ? ?

The unit was spacious

It smelt, no ironing board, same curtains ripped, freezer in fridge was frozen over with ice so couldn't use. Heating was insufficient

Close to where we wanted to be, and even though on the stare highway it's quiet. Thank you for upgrading us for our wedding anniversary trip.

Nothing to dislike.

Absolutely lovely, friendly staff, perfect location for us, with comfy beds.

Unfortunately very dated, walls needed a good clean as there were hand prints everywhere in the lounge. The dish cloth also looked like it had been used multiple times as it was old and brown.. As others have stated, parking and access around the Motel is very tight.

can’t think of anything i liked

beds, bathroom, furniture. the unit felt cold and damp, there was only two sugars so we both couldn’t even have a hot drink.
