Monarch Motel

The location was close but peacefully away from the hubbub of downtown Invercargill. The unit was spacious with a great bed. So spacious that the large bathroom has a WC. The owners were very frightened and a great sense of humor.

Bit of a challenge to get the shower 'just right' but that's hardly unusual in a motel :-)

Clean and comfortable.

There was a booking error and booking.com only sent the no of adults for the booking. I had booked an apartment for 6 people (4 adults 2 children and 1 toddler who didn't take up an extra bed) but on arrival the hotel charged us $25 per extra person. I’ve used Booking.com for multiple bookings on this trip, and most of them were fine. However, this booking was mishandled, booking.com support was unhelpful and the extra cost came out of my pocket. Don't trust Booking.com blindly and will double-confirme with hotels directly from now on.

Good kitchen, bed seperate toilet all excellent with fresh towels.

Shower was small and had high step. And we would have prefered unit on ground floor if option available.

The price is very affordable and the motel was spacious and has complete amenities

Perhaps do something on the shower floor as it tends to be a bit slippery

The 1 BR units have a strange configuration whereby the bathroom is off the bedroom, meaning that anyone sleeping in the living room has to pass through the bedroom - not a good arrangement, especially during the night. There is little room for luggage in the bedroom. As usual, there are not enough hooks or rails in the bathroom, bedroom and living room to hang things on. The lack of a table is a deficit. No dish cloth to wipe down surfaces was supplied.

Easy to find along the motel strip. Pleasant lady at reception. Nice clean & spacious room.

Silly us, should’ve requested a ground level room. Had to cart everything up the stairs! ( not their fault) Also - big step up into the shower recess. Not a huge problem but good for people to know. We got the last parking spot. Not one for one/room

The unit was clean and comfortable.

Unfortunately we had others staying either next or above us who stayed up late into early morning. Every time they opened the sliding door it sounded like the rollers had flat spots and not quite.

Easy to locate on arrival in Invercargill. Friendly staff. Handy takeaway within walking distance.Traffic noise minimal. Spacious unit.

Exactly what I needed for a few nights stay, really clean, nice and quiet and close to town

The owners were absolutely wonderful.Nice to stay where the hosts come across as actually enjoying there days rather than making you feel like you are a nuisance by staying.Would recommend.

Aircon would have been nice but not actually a problem. A nice to have but not something that would stop us from going back to stay.
