    Pros +

    • Breakfast was good, the park and grounds around the hotel are pretty.
    • Great location
    • Hotel location, historical building, quite wide room, good breakfast, good restaurant, nice staff

    Cons -

    • The room was unbearably hot, without airconditioning and with locked windows. At midnight the room temperature was still 31 degrees. Staff didn't provide the key to open the windows, which I've never seen before. We moved to our car during the night. Of course there is a heatwave in Finland now, but this room would be uncomfortable on a sunny 15 degree day. It's a greenhouse with the sun inside and no way to cool it. These rooms should not be sold in summer if windows can't be unlocked. This hotel is probably nice in winter, but would recommend against staying in summertime.
    • Room temperature - far too hot all night - windows fixed closed
    • No air conditioning so it was a bit hot, the cleaning was not very well done before us and there was some hair in the bath etc.

the room was very quiet, as for breakfast, excellent. did not have time to use the spa.

The hotel is the most beautiful and has a great old time charm. I love the location, staff was friendly, great view from the room. Good restaurant.

No air conditioning so it was a bit hot, the cleaning was not very well done before us and there was some hair in the bath etc.

Everything as expected from Scandic. Nice modern room in the park building, excellent breakfast, cozy lounge bar to watch football.

The building's air condition was just above our room so it didn't get quiet when leaving the window open. You need to be honest and open regarding this with your guests.Staff didn't speak English very well, some didn't even understand Finnish. Maybe their Russian was better?

    Great location, friendly staff

The rooms in the separate building were perhaps a bit outdated but all in all a nice stay with friendly staff at the reception

    7SannaPosted on: 7-1-2024

Perfect location for Saimaa Cycle Tour.

Old, run down facilities, no airconditioning and many of the power outlets in the room did not work.

Great location, good breakfast. "New" building is outdated but clean

The hotel is set next to a lovely riverside walk along the Imatra rapids. The staff where very helpful as the restaurant was closed on the day we stayed and directed us to the centre where we found somewhere to eat. The room was nice and big, fitting the almost medieval castle look of the hotel Breakfast was fantastic, with a selection of hot and cold options as well as yogurt, and overnight oats.

Liked reception staff - friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good. Room size good. Bathroom good. Location good.

Duvets too narrow for a man. No tea/coffee facilities. No shower cap. Say a lady rather gruff when our granddaughter was using the pool. We didn’t realise it was closed.

the room located in the main building were is the reception and the breakfast room . my room was clean with a touch of castle decorating .I love the large stairs just like in a castle. i usually used these beautiful stairs instead of the elevator. The breakfast was FABULOUS. it's beens long since i've had such a good breakfast in a hotel .The spa was large with different baths .Parking just in front of the hotel

Every thing was good. just to explain that there is 2 building (castle one where is the reception and restaurant ) and the new building where is the spa and very small fitness in a dark room .These 2 buildings are separate by a tunnel 5 minutes walk with stairs .

Great stay, great location, delicious breakfast, beautiful scenery, excellent value for money??☀️

    7IevaPosted on: 9-4-2023

Nice location and fantastic area for walks. Large rooms.

The quality of breakfast was poor for the Scandic hotel.

    8PeterPosted on: 8-26-2023

We chose this hotel for the location next to the rapids, but in the event we arrived too late to see the 6:00pm brief unleashing of the waters. We also chose it for the architecture although we opted for the less expensive accommodation in the new building, which is physically separate from the original hotel, and can be accessed internally via a tunnel, or externally via a short walk. The original building is indeed an interesting example of national romantic architecture and is certainly not over-restored. The new building seems to have been very recently refurbished and our room was well-equipped and very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, with a greater number of choices than we had at some other Scandic hotels and served in the original restaurant.

It really is very expensive. We paid 149 Euros for two people for one night in the new building in mid-August, which appeared to be pretty much end of season.

view from the room to river which was running during our whole stay and that is not normal the situation as river runs normally only during the river shows

    the view from the room

    Breakfast was wonderful

Parking was difficult as the lot was full, no help from reception either in this respect, she did not get involved and let us know it is our own problem...

I came to Imatra for the Saimaa Cycle Tour, which started right next to the hotel, so the location was perfect for the purpose of the trip. The location in Imatra is otherwise very good as it is in the very center of the city. The hotel building has unique architecture and inner structure is different from newer hotels.

The reservation was for a single person room, but still, it was smaller than expected. In addition, the shower was very outdated and there was no fridge in the room. There is no air-conditioning in the hotel. From my side, the price-value balance was on the wrong side. Breakfast was okay, but considering the cost, the selection was rather limited.I asked if it was possible to check out a little after 12 pm and it was for 10 Euro/hour, which I thought was a little greedy, considering the price of the room.

Breakfast was amazing! One of the best vegan breakfasts I have ever had in a hotel. The hotel was beautiful and rooms comfortable.

The spa was a bit outdated and not everything was working properly, but it still was a nice addition to the experience.

    Location, room

Low room temperature, real cold. Breakfast was getting worse in comparison with it use to be.
