    Pros +

    • Superb location; excellent facilities; wonderful staff
    • Incredible views and amazing design. The cottage was very well thought out with a living room, separate bedroom, and connecting outdoor space. Facilities were very thoughtful — outlets everywhere, functional bathroom, etc. Food was very good.
    • The location is second to none, incredible ocean and mountain vistas almost wherever you look, but what really made this experience something special are the staff, they are attentive, engaging and friendly. What really struck me about the staff is how much they actually care about your experience, always asking “can I help you with x” or “we can do y if that’s better for you” etc without skipping a beat!

    Cons -

    • Significantly overpriced, by about a third
    • It didn’t feel like good value — at $1500 USD per night, felt like we were being nickeled and dimed on things like included dinner but charged for a glass of wine. Service was also impersonal for a luxury place and the price. We were not told in advance about tour options, and there was a lot of confusion over the breakfast situation since we had a whale watching tour the next morning. They eventually packed a to go breakfast, which was fantastic, but the staff made it feel like it was an unreasonable request and a big hassle. There is a pool and a few short walking trails but not a lot to do on the property otherwise and you have to drive an hour into Hermanus. So a great place for a romantic few days as a getaway. Not so great if you’re trying to tour the area
    • Nothing. Dinner wad a little fussy but quite relaxed.

The wide view of veld and ocean from the large windows of the modern, luxurious lodge amidst natural fynbos. And the room was unbeatable.

Stunning location, pool was lovely, fabulous staff - especially Jono our guide. Also the food was exquisite!

This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. The view out across the reserve is fantastic, and the rooms are so spacious, cosy and have everything you need. It's absolutely luxury - from the candlelit bath they've filled for you while you are at dinner, to the beautiful fire in the stove in the lounge space. You can also try horseriding and a beach excursion at no extra cost.

The food isn't the best. For the price, you'd think it might be a little more gourmet. I'd also say the beach and cave excursion (though we had a fantastic guide) was a little underwhelming.

So special being in the midst of the wild. Hawks on our patio.... and what a view! Food is amazing!

The reception was warm and spontaneous, and the check in personally handled. The room was large and very well appointed with a main and guest toilet which is a great asset if travelling with children. The view was expansive over Walker Bay. The board walk to the rooms is lovely and lit up at night. All furnishings are of a modern style. The WiFi is open and excellent. We had sanitiser in the room. The food at all sittings was absolutely excellent, and beautifully presented. The menu selection was quite extensive and good choices for all persuasions. Our service was always pleasant, cheerful and accommodating. Very well done. We did the Nature Drive and Yellow Walk with Alison who was knowledgeable, considerate and enthusiastic, and enjoyed her company.

The showers worked very well, but we found that the floor became very slippery after having used soap and there were no handrails. At check out our payment had not come through on their system despite the fact that I paid fully at the time of our reservation which was 10 days prior.
