    Pros +

    • We had a corner junior suite and it was great with a huge balcony. Breakfast outside by the pool. Located in a very quiet area.
    • Staff is great, friendly, helpful. Included breakfast is served the patio or in room. Rooms have balconies. Good location, good value, easy access to José Ignacio. Laid back atmosphere compared to nearby expensive and teaming Punta del Este. Room doors and keys are adorned with whimsical, sexual artistic drawings. Match the key to your room. If that bothers one, just look away and enjoy the view from your balcony.
    • Very charming little boutique hotel with incredibly friendly staff, and one of the most comfy beds I've slept in

    Cons -

    • Beware there is no elevator it's difficult to climb with heavy luggage. Lots of mosquitoes. We were bitten despite having plug in repellants in the room. The bed area had a bit of a slope downwards which the hotel can't change but it is apparent. Note the drinks in the fridge cost approx US$4 per bottle.
    • Some rooms advertised as sea view only have sliver view. Minor maintenance needed. Apparently, there are four classes of rooms, but the average customer won’t really understand if they rely on websites that don’t clarify the attributes of the rooms. These details should not dissuade travelers. It’s a good place to stay.
    • Some of the aspects of the room are a bit older, but if you just accept that it's no issue -- everything is super clean and comfortable, in a beautiful location

    Staff very friendly and helpful

Sheets were dirty, stained. Rooms were not clean. Toilets clogged easily.

My wife and I went to La Viuda as part of a weekend getaway for her birthday. It was an amazing experience from the moment we stepped into the property. The staff is amazing and the location of the hotel is hard to beat. We'll be back for sure.

    Al good!

We were there at the end of October, long before the season, but everything was available in the hotel. Pool, rental bikes and whirlpool. Great breakfast in the garden. The owners are super friendly and take care of all your needs. Highly recommended, we'd love to come back.

The room was clean and very well equipped - it even had a spa bath. The staff were helpful. We stayed only one night and our intention had been to drive into Jose Ignacio to find a restaurant for dinner. However, a very heavy rainstorm changed our plans and we ordered dinner at the hotel. We waited a long time for it (the staff apologised for this) but it was worth the wait.Breakfast on our balcony the next morning was very good.

The location was excellent and the staff very nice. The breakfast was plentiful, well cooked and presented

Very shabby building and generally grubby. It did not seem worth the top dollar they charge.

Located in a very quiet area, it´s perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. Some options of restaurants at a short driving distance. The room was very confortable, loved the bed, specially the pillows. Used the bathtub everyday and the breakfast by the pool or inside the room with no extra charge was delightfull.

There was one day that I left the room at 1pm and it didn´t get cleaned - wasn't a big trouble because the room wasn't too dirty, but it should have been done.. Everything else was perfect!

Nice big room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, beautiful ground’s. Nice breakfast by the pool.

Lots of flies in room when we arrived. Gap in the deck door so hard to close we didn’t use deck.

    The location is great.

The room was not clean. We found hair in the toilet and on the bathroom floor. The cutlery and plates were not clean either. We found roaches in the room, and we complained. They were friendly, but no solution was offered (reinforce cleaning or change the room). It gave us the feeling that the room only had a change of sheets but nothing more. Considering we are facing Covid, cleaning is more important than ever
