The building is beautiful, the rooms are very pretty, well maintained. Very clean.

After my second trip here am sure it was not just an incidence during my first stay, but a rule: terrible food (either breakfast or dinner), the staff trying to put you in the worst possible room (contrary to beautiful pics from your reservation). Breakfast at such vacation-type resort served only till 10:30, after this they rush to remove everything from the buffet. Low quality of food (ei: hot dogs served, every day the same, tomato sauce from the concentrate ! in country full of fresh veggies or fruit!).Tiny little windows so you can feel like in prison.Generally indifferent or rude reception. You have to struggle to get what you paid for, they will do all the tricks possible to cheat you and put you in shabby room.

Very small windows in the room, not like presented at the reservation. The view to neighboring huge apartment building, messy breakfast buffet, pigsty. Lazy staff, limited menu at the breakfast, some items of very poor quality. Dinner was OK, but nothing wow.

This is THE address for classic glamor in Rio. You truly feel a part of this hotel's history and legacy upon walking in the door. Service was top notch, and the bed was comfortable. We asked a few times for items to be brought to the room, and upon hanging up the phone, they were there. It was quite shocking! We also used the hotel's car service, which was convenient and friendly. Breakfast was delectable. Highly recommend!

It's not exactly the hotel's fault, but the one drawback is the pool. Though it's certainly the largest in Rio, the placement of the pool between a number of towers means that it only really gets sun until 11:30am or noon. There are some chairs on a higher terrace for afternoon sun, but I wish we could have swum in the sun through the afternoon. The pool gets quite chilly in the shade. The hotel's area on Copacabana Beach is also perfectly suitable but feels less than luxurious.

    good breakfast

I booked my reservation directly with the hotel, only to arrive and find that it didn’t exist in their system. As a result, I was downgraded from my original booking. The following day, I was moved to another room, but once again, it was not what I had reserved. To make matters worse, I was robbed inside my room—my diamond bracelet was stolen. When I requested to see the security footage, the hotel refused. I ended up spending an entire day at the police station and repeatedly going back and forth with hotel staff, yet they took no responsibility for the situation.Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I do not recommend this hotel at all."

    Great location!

2nd floor rooms of the main building are very noisy. The noise is either from outside or from upstairs.

    The Food Was Divine.

Carpets in the hallway definitely need replacing… extremely dirty . Staff putting new cutlery down and using their hands at the top of the cutlery. How can this be a 5* Hotel because I don’t think so

It is a stunning classic hotel - its reputation of service is second to none. Some parts of the grand building are tired but it is 100 years old.

The location is a bit overrated !

    Location, history, considerate staff

Very busy at weekends with local events, so noisy and crowded. Also restaurant offering at weekend inflexible

It’s super luxurious, immaculate and centrally located. The rooms are well appointed. The air conditioning is first rate - very important in a hot tropical climate. The staff are amazing. They cluck over you.

Everything. A perfect place to stay. Room, pool, restaurants and bar and above all, extremely dedicated and friendly employees.

Just a suggestion. The snacks at the pool when having a drink could be more varied.

Beautiful pool; best in Rio. Great breakfast.

    Quite pricey.

Historic beautiful building. Service impeccable, we got welcome gifts of a bottle of sparkling wine and local snacks. The room was comfortable with housekeeping twice a day. Pool is perfect for lounging.

The hotel was very crowded, and the location wasn’t exactly beachfront. The beach is across a busy street, and copacabana beach itself is not that nice. Ipanema is much trendier and as a young couple we wish we’d stayed there instead. Also we thought staying in the hotel meant some privileged beach access - not at all. There is a tent that provides chairs and towels but you are closer to the roads than to the sea. Many visitors come to the hotel too and being hotel guests doesn’t give you any priority in terms of hotel restaurant booking. If i could do this again i’d stay in Ipanema and just come to this hotel for the restaurants.

I loved everything about the hotel, the amazing facilities as well the kind and professional staff. What a beautiful & well managed hotel with a gorgeous lemony scent throughout the common areas. The bedding & the soft bath towels made our experience so dreamy. Furthermore, I’m yet to stay at a hotel as generous at The Copa, we were showered with so many gifts and treats that we had to buy a small suitcase to take some of it home. I’m so thankful that the team went an extra mile to make my birthday special with a delicious chocolate cake. Lastly, we were lucky enough to check-in in time to catch the Feijoada lunch & entertainment- it was a glorious start to our stay.

The beach across it isn’t the best but we overlooked it as we had spent some time at another beach on the other side of Rio.
