    • I don’t understand the name!!! How can you call this place Royalty? It is a S..t hole. I was staying at Othon Palace (amazing hotel) but wanted to stay a week more in Rio but their wouldn’t have the first two nights available so I went there. The bed was dirt with blood stains on it, the sink and the mirror was broken, the toilet was broken you couldn’t use it, their had to sent a guy that made it worse. The place was a nightmare. I couldn’t stay over there so I went back to the Windsor in that I was staying before moving to Othon Palace in Copacabana. I left my luggage over there as I was coming back to Othon, I spoke to a gentleman at the reception regarding the check out and he sid not to worry as I could do the check out until noon. I arrived there just before noon and their wanted to charge me R$400( the cash deposit that their take from you at the check in). I explained to them that I had spoken with the receptionist and he guarantee me that was no problem whatsoever, but was no negotiation, I had to write a complaint letter for them to give the money back.
    • Did not meet my expectations. disappointing and disgusting. Bathroom poor condition. Taps leaking, toilet system unstable needed to be repaired hair dryer broken replaced, air conditioner faulty - cannot be repaired...was replaced . Handyman was very supportive and helpful, very polite and pleasant Unlike the guy at the reception. We requested another room. He refused we put up the inconvenience..we were not in a comfort zone The sound from the neighbors especially from the rest room was very disturbing No public bar and restaurant...had to go out for supper. Same breakfast every day..not up to my expectations. Room was only cleaned after 3pm. Inconvenienced us.No ice cubes available in the hotel. We bought from the supermarket. We had to request for an invoice. Very inefficient. We paid on arrival. No receipt. On departure told that we owe them a balance. Most gratifying were the 2 female receptionists. They understood our plight, were apologetic, helpful, caring and humbly polite. My gratitude ? to them. The accommodation didn't mean my expectations . Not worth the money I paid. Very unfair. The pictures on internet are not the true reflection of what we experienced. Will not recommend it to anyone. Will send pictures when I get back home

    Cons -

    • Old facilities, linens and sheets. Needs maintenance
    • The hotel is so outdated and expensive. It’s a total ripoff. The outdoor noise is so loud that we thought the windows were open, but they were closed. The bathroom was dirty, even after told the front office - it hasn’t been cleaned the week except towels changed. Toilet was dirty when we checked in. There was mold In the shower. The ceiling was and door was old and rotten as well the frame of the mirror.Such simple things to change and maintenance. This says there is totally no soul and hospitality mind in this entire property. We never be back.
    • If you like cockroaches in your toilet, shower, bed, on the walls, in your open bags, and in the halls, this is the right place for you. I have stayed in 1 dollar hostels in India that are cleaner than this place. Absolutely filthy. We have argued with staff about the upkeep of the room and agreed to an extermination team to come in and get rid of the cockroaches. After a day out, it looked like it was in an okay condition, but appearances are tricky. Before going to bed on the second day, we found multiple cockroaches (again) in the bathroom as well in our bed. These animals are so intertwined with ,seemingly, the whole building that it is a miracle no one has contacted a disease so far. The staff couldn't care less. I spoke to Frederique (the French nightmanager on sunday) and had a very short and very rude answer. Can't do anything now. Basically, suck it up buttercup. I've been trying to talk to him with my brazilian girlfriend around but he kept on refusing to speak english to me and would only talk with her in portugués even tho he speaks perfect English. We paid more than 150 euros per night (during carnaval) for a subpar filthy hotel with absolutely no service. The bathroom was mouldy, open electrical sockets in the room (don't take your kids here, they will get electrocuted), and cockroaches in every place emaginable. The hotel provided nothing but an almost empty pest spray. Wouldn't recommend anyone coming here.

Staff: The staff is very inconsistent. Gentleman checked me in was great professional. Other staff was pretty rude anytime I came to the desk.. arrogant people.Breakfast: the breakfast has been changed at this hotel. Plates went to kids plates and every items are cut into such a small pieces.. it's a miniature breakfast.Room: Bed was dirty, everything in this room is just filthy.. if you ask them about it they are in denial. Wifi: no wifi in rooms ever work. Only on hallways..Bathroom: ceiling falling apart and mold everywhere .Room: rooms on the 1st floor balconies open up to a wall instead of a view and makes the room being in dark all day.

Good price for the city and time of year.

Check in and check out proces was slow and painful. Not enough staff working and you have to wait for someone to go to your room and make sure everything is there before you can leave.

The breakfast was ok, the location was ok.

The hotel needs a bit of maintenance in the room, especially the bathroom

    4RubenPosted on: 2-24-2024

    Breakfast was good! Staff friendly.

The hotel is old and needs refurbishment. The aircon was not working but good thing they replaced it. Curtains were faulty. The sink was dripping. The toilet smells. The TV has no reception. The toilet has many grimes and dirt.

The property is very well located. The view of the forest is gorgeous. AC works well. The room is comfortable and the shower is good

The breakfast has low quality items. Artificial juices. No pao de queijo which is a must in Brazil. No toaster.

    Lobby sauna location

Gym was locked old smelly sheets and towels. They charges 40 dollars for late checkout.Charged to store my bags for an hour

    1BrianPosted on: 2-28-2023

    The location was fine.

The wifi almost never worked. I never received new towels, toilet paper, or had my room cleaned my entire stay. The check-in was messy as the receptionist was rude. The eggs for breakfast were always cold. Finally, when I checked in the room had a faulty power box to place the room key that turns on lights and air conditioning. Rather than offer me a new room they placed three key cards in the power box to keep it working all day which was a waste of energy. I also had to go back to the receptionist three times the first day because my key card did not work.

The place was filthy! The pillows and mattresses have stains! Mattresses don't even have covers on it! The hotel front desk don't ever care

    3DanielPosted on: 2-24-2023

nice breakfast, close to subway stations

This is a two star hotel at best! I am not demanding at all, but first impression was not the best: upon arrival, room was not cleaned properly. After walking a few minutes barefoot our feet were literally black (not gray, not brown, literally BLACK!!! as if the floors were not wiped for months). After that we got disgusted in touching anything. Then curtain and lamps full of mould as if the room were closed for months. The wasn’t cold water to mix it at the shower. so the water was unbearably HOT, almost boiling. my Boyfriend wanted to wash the shampoo out and could not, so hot it was - I had to hold water in my hands, wait a few seconds to temper and only then wash his head. The bed sheets were stained and towels were yellowish. Overall very poor maintenance. For 1-2 days acceptable, but for 5 days stay (as we had), just skip this hotel, not worth spending vacations here… never eve again

The location close to Copacabana is the only good thing about this place.

There was black mould in the shower. There was no mattresscover on a mattress full of stains. Not that that would have helped since the sheets were also stained and had hair on them. Both the shower and faucet leaked uncontrollably. WiFi was straight from the 90’s. Unusable. The breakfast was the best thing.. I would give it a 4/10.

The hotel staff were all very pleasant and polite , breakfast was ok , with enough variety.

The rooms were dated , the bed cover and the small sofa in the room were extremely dirty , we just could not use it at all .

    9DavidPosted on: 7-18-2022

The views, the location, the size of the room. The WIFI, the water pressure.

Please put some kind of desk for PC. Also please install a quieter AC.

Good location in a safe neighbourhood. The rooftop pool is nice, although the whole area is a little run down. Room is nice for the price range and breakfast decent.

Not the best treatment from the staff, they even tried to add an extra fee at check out because the price I booked it for "was wrong". Resolved after a talk to the manager. Hotel is past its glory days, bit that's also reflected in the price.
