    Pros +

    • Beautiful building in gorgeous town
    • Location was great, close to many attractions and the waterfront. There was also a cute park nearby. Facilities were good, and we really liked the interior of the hotel itself. We had a comfortable double room, and it was very quiet during our stay. We also enjoyed the breakfast, which offered a nice variety of food. The sauna and small swimming pool were a bonus, and we enjoyed using them as well. The staff were attentive and friendly. There was also a luggage room, so we didn’t have to carry our bags around after checking out. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again.
    • Location

    Cons -

    • Parking limited
    • Nothing major - it would have been nice to have a mini fridge, and the shower doors were a bit unusual, but neither was a big issue. The only small inconvenience was that no hand towels were provided, so we had to use one of our face towels instead.
    • We were checked into the wrong room at the top of the hotel only accessible by 2 flights of winding steps. Room was not what we booked.

Unfortunately, the room was not properly cleaned. We're not particularly picky about cleanliness, especially when traveling with dogs, but this time it seemed that nothing was done aside from replacing the toilet paper. The room itself was quite dated, which would have been fine, but the lack of basic cleaning made the stay less comfortable

Very special buildings, very clean and comfortable and very friendly stuff. All was more than we expected.

    nothing, all was perfect.

Great breakfast. They packed a bag of bfast because we were checking out quite early to catch our boat.

    Wish the sauna was cozy-looking

The lobby near the reception is very beautiful. The breakfast area is cozy. There is plenty of natural light in the rooms and in the hotel lobby. The location is convenient.

I booked a family suite at the hotel three months before our trip. It was a large room with two bedrooms. On the day of our arrival, after we had already flown to the island, we were informed that the hotel could not provide our room because "something was broken." When we asked to see the room and the damage, the receptionist said it was not possible, became nervous, and started calling the management. The receptionist did not realize that we understood Swedish, and during the conversation with the management, it became clear that our room had been given to another family. It was extremely unpleasant. I understand that Easter was being celebrated in Sweden and someone probably paid more for our room. So when planning your perfect holiday, you cannot be sure that this hotel will actually provide you with what you booked. Only after 30 minutes of long discussions with the receptionist did they agree to give us our large room the next day and offer compensation for the first night. They could have handled the situation honestly from the beginning by offering compensation and explaining the situation truthfully, without deception. In the evening, we went to the hotel's spa. There was something strange floating in the pool. I took a photo and showed it to the reception. They were surprised and went to remove it from the pool. However, afterward, people continued swimming in the pool, and no one informed them about what had happened. Whatever it was, it did not look like chocolates or candy, and it likely would have sunk if it were.We were disappointed with the quality of the fruits and vegetables served at breakfast.Everything happening outside was clearly heard inside our room, as if there were no windows at all, even though we were on the third floor. On one of the days, at 8 a.m., the hotel called in a service team for repair work, and they started drilling into the wall outside.

The stay at this hotel is one big part of our memories in Gotland. The receptionist Ida was amazingly thoughtful and helpful. The building itself is a bit old but has an original atmosphere which we liked it so much. It is a great deal of money considering it includes the delicious morning buffet. I am so glad that I chose this hotel to see my family being excited. Thank you so much for everything!

Fantastic location, with interconnected old buildings over narrow streets, creating a great experience

    - Slightly neglected rooms with minor issues that could be easily fixed but seem ignored (e.g. loose screws causing a dangling mirror, tangled cables affecting lights - similar small problems were present in both rooms we had)- The hotel has three parking areas, but the door to the back ones lock in the morning, preventing car loading. Staff temporarily fixed my card for the parking door, but it then stopped working in my room. They’re aware of the issue but seem indifferent to fixing it

Breakfast was amazing for variety and quality. Room was perfectly quiet, clean, and bathroom was updated. Location could not have been better, steps from the shoreline and wall.

Nice location. Rooms are comfy and clean. Nice saunas (both regular one and steam sauna) and small indoor pool, perfect after sauna. Very nice breakfast buffet!

Hotel looks expensive but reasonable as so famous sight seeing place. Staffs are very kind. There is free coffee service in day time with relaxing seat area with a small library. Very comfortable even out of the room. Bath room's floor is warmly heated.

Room is small and almost no space to put luggage. In the non-main wing of the hotel, there is no elevator.

The Strand had some unique older world charm.the roof top bar was fantastic, with great views.Hannah on the front desk was very thorough and went out her way to advise and help organise my time in Visby. A great ambassador

The breakfast was really good with big variety of food. The room was nice and clean. Perfect location, close to everything and you can go everywhere on foot.

    10CarriePosted on: 7-16-2024

The location was in the center city, east walking distance to places in the city. The hotel was clean with the charm of the city. The breakfast was out of this world! The variety and quality were spectacular!

    Parking was difficult

Nice location in central Visby, nice staff, lovely room with a nice view and excellent breakfast.

    The buildings.Nod to history.

The angled mirrors and lighting by the mirrors was not the best. Really hard to see clearly.PowerPoints for charging devices and using the kettle we’re floor level (when I found them). It was hard to bend down that far.

Ideal location, lovely and cozy public spaces, delicious breakfast, friendly and healthy staff. Excellent value for money because our "economy room," though simple, was very spacious.

It would have been nice to have more vegan options at breakfast--such as vegan sausage amongst the warm offerings, and vegan cheese and meat amongst the cold ones. Otherwise, wonderful experience and tasty breakfast.

    - Amazing location- Suprisingly comfortable beds- Good breakfast- A lof of parking spots. The one in front of the entrance was always busy but there are 2 more which were empty and much closer to our room. On red days, there is a big public parking in aorund 1 minute walk.

    - The rooms are very old and need some "love"- The check-in experience after 23:00 is very confusing. First, the entrance door is closed, you need to ring someone, they tell you the code you must remember and enter. Then "self check-in" counters don't work telling you to contact the stuff which is not there. It turned out you must find the plate with the envelopes containing your key from the room. Next challenge is to find out how to find your room.
