    Pros +

    • The location was perfect and quirkiness of the property was in keeping with the area.
    • Mine is actually another new building few steps away from the actual Hotel dagmar , i like it Being solo traveller I scare to stay in too historical hotel hehe
    • The location of the hotel is great

    Cons -

    • The room was very tired and out of date. The mouldy shower and unclean floor was an embarrassment to anyone offering paid accommodation. The bed was small for two and springs broken on one side so squeaked badly. I could have worked with all of this but we paid £140 for the night and felt we didn’t get anything like value for money. And that was before we went down for the terrible breakfast!
    • The reputation of "the oldest hotel in Denmark" is no excuse for poor service (noone to help with luggage up steep stairs) and lack of maintenance. Carpets were stained and the bathroom in dire need of repair. The overloaded electricity socket at the end of the bed was scruffy and potentially dangerous. Breakfast was a bun fight.
    • We did not like the breakfast, especially the coffee. One of the windows in the room didn't have a curtain, so we were woken up by the sun very early in the morning

    Location on square

    Very dated room & bathroom.

    7AvrilPosted on: 8-18-2025

Location was perfect, would have preferred to stay in main hotel than the annexe, breakfast was amazing!

Stunning building and some of the interior.

Carpets and some of interior very tired looking.

The location couldn't get any better - in the heart of Ribe. The historical building is impressive and charming. The breakfast was wonderful. We had a car, and the hotel had a parking spot available to us for a charge - which we appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Dagmar

Historic part of the hotel. Location right next to dome.

Our room was not in the historic part of the hotel, but a 1950ish annex. Hot! No AC. Room wasn't aired when we arrived. Our own airing was difficult due to windows that can't be locked open. Sweating through the night, then the shower did not work. To their credit it was fixed the same day. As a bonus it turned out that the hairdrier did also not work. When we told them they didn't even apologize. They do no clean rooms or even make beds, ostensibly on a "green" pretense. They offer to clean on demand, but when we asked for it on the third day, they never did it. Their coffee "machine" pours instant coffee - ugh! - last encountered that in the 1980ies. Spare ribs seemed microwaved, with synthetic "roast aromas" provided by gravy with the consistency of axle grease.

Location was excellent.Staff helpful and friendly.

Breakfast was a bit busy - but was ok!

    7LennartPosted on: 7-10-2025

Good location in the centre of town. Have stayed before and enjoy the atmosphere of the hotel

It was Friday night and a bar close by had a loud band playing which kept us awake…but I guess that is to be expected on a Friday night.

Great location on main square opposite Cathederal.

    Nothing comes to mind

    7LucyPosted on: 6-17-2025

Wonderful position. Lovely building. The room was comfortable and adequate size.

    Breakfast average, coffee poor.

    9JanaPosted on: 6-11-2025

Very nice historical hotel with beautiful rooms. Good breakfast. Amazing location.

    7ScottPosted on: 6-7-2025

Stunning location. Large room in annexe building across the square.

Quite a long walk to the public car park. Booking dinner was a confusing experience involving asking at reception but then being told to go down to the restaurant where they don’t do bookings so they told me to go back upstairs to reception!

    7RosemaryPosted on: 6-6-2025

The location was excellent - right in the middle of the old town. Staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant was good.

The rooms are a little tired in terms of decor. Clearly it’s a centuries old building, but I felt it would benefit from an update to the furnishings. There was a hairdryer in my room but it wouldn’t fit into any of the plug sockets. The Lonely Planet says rooms have cathedral views ‘as standard’, but my room looked onto a service area at the back of the building. That was probably because I was a solo traveller in one of the cheaper rooms.

    Right in the centre

We were put in the annexe which is seperate from hotel and new . But bathroom was filthy( see pictures) Beds foam mattress was uncomfortable. Staff not friendly and they don’t service the room. Not up to standard compared to rest of country.

    9JannickPosted on: 5-21-2025

Lovely old hotel, very authentic. True Ribe experience! Breakfast was great.

    6KjeldPosted on: 4-19-2025

Very good dinner in the restaurant.

It took almost 3 hours to serve a simple 3 course dinner.

    2AmirPosted on: 10-23-2024

No WI-FI in the room we stayed and the staff pretend no to know it.Low water pressure in the shower. No boild eggs in breakfast, and the staff say it is unusual to serve boild eggs in Danish hotels. In all other Danish hotels we stayed they did serve these eggs.

    See above.
