Pros +
- Excellent breakfast
- Waiting staff were very good (breakfast/evening) Good parking.
- The staff were fantastic, as was the breakfast.
Cons -
- Creaking floorboards and creaking beds.
- Food uninspiring and expensive. "Foraged greens" were a few bits of broccoli, carrot and cauliflower. How can these be foraged? Other dishes not great. Vegetarian option very poor. Maybe cant get kitchen staff.
- shower facilities were not great, it does need to be updated and a power shower fitted.

The location is excellent. Very old quirky hotel, oab beams and uneven creaky floors, loved it.The service and hospitality was unbelievable, needed a late checkout due to a funeral time, no problem. Thankyou. We had a meal there too. Food is fabulous.
Can't fault it, but it depends if you like a very old world hotel.
Excellent evening meal and breakfast, room comfortable, Good pint (S) of guiness. Staff very friendly and helpfull.
The staff so friendly and welcoming lovely traditional cozy rooms, warm and comfortable.
Close to where we needed to be
Freezing rooms. Heating only on in the morning when we were leaving. Needs a refresh leaks and stained walls and ceilings Not cheap enough to justify condition. Staff helpful and pleasant Tables all wobbly in bar.
Warm welcoming atmosphere, great location in centre of town, easily walkable from station( very good food.
Room was on top floor with labyrinthine staircases
Very very much in need of refurbishment. So worn out
Fabulous hotel. Wonderful staff. Aways a welcoming atmosphere. The bar has a good selection of local Welsh beers and cider. The restaurant serve a diverse awway of local foods, with themed events througout the year.
Nothing worthy of comment.
Lovely, old hotel. Full of character. Our room (21) was large, with plenty of storage. It was serviced daily. The bathroom decor was dated but it was spotlessly clean. Secondary glazing on the old sash windows kept the room quiet and warm. There was a good choice of breakfasts. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
The stair carpets were tired and worn which didn't give a good first impression but this didn't affect our stay. The shower in our room was not powerful enough - lots of hot water for the bath however. The TV was too small to be viewed from the bed.
Friendly staff. No problem that I needed to check in early. Good parking. Old building with lots of character. Good breakfast.
Heating in the bedroom wasn't on and there were no instructions about how to put it on. In bathroom the extractor fan didn't appear to work and the cold tap on the bath produced only a trickle of water.
Good location to explore the surrounding areas
It was quite noisy being on the high street , but we did know that
It was very convenient and comfortable. The facilities were as expected and we loved the log fire. The breakfast and Sunday lunch were exceptional. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel. Machynlleth is a delightful small town with excellent shops and beautiful countryside.
Was close to where I needed to be next day
very poor quality room, it was like stepping back into the 80’s, TV was super small, couldn’t adjust shower head, wasn’t offered WiFi code & couldn’t find it anywhere
The location Available parking
Property is in a state of disrepair, leaking ceilings and in need of some serious love.
The staff were lovely and so welcoming.
Slight smell of damp in the bathroom but it’s an old building so is to be expected and didn’t bother me.
The staff were brilliant and the food in the restaurant was excellent.
It was dated and in need of refurbishment.
Good location Overnight storage in garage for motorbikeFriendly staff Live music Friday nightGood breakfast
The room was tired
Dinner on our first night went well and made us feel at home.
Breakfast on our last morning was slow because a large group of residents were being served, and staff resources were stretched.
