Beautiful Location, Gorgeous ground, Lovely building & Staff
Our recent stay was unfortunately very disappointing and did not meet the expectations set by the hotel’s website and promotional images. The leisure facilities were in a poor state. The pool, sauna, and hot tub were unclean, with the pool water appearing green and cloudy, and visible grit and dirt present. The steam room also looked as though it was deteriorating. In our room, we found stains on the pillows, rust and staining in the bath, dirty windows, and even hair inside the kettle — all of which raised serious concerns about overall cleanliness and maintenance standards. We had been looking forward to our Valentine’s dinner; however, this too was underwhelming. We ordered three tapas dishes, which were significantly overpriced given the very small portion sizes. My partner’s chicken pot pie was excellent and well-prepared. Unfortunately, my 12-hour braised brisket was extremely disappointing. It was presented as a compact “puck” of meat, appeared to have been previously frozen, and was very dry and lacking in flavour. The portion size was also poor. Additionally, the truffle element in the pomme purée was undetectable. For dessert, which we requested to have delivered to our room (but ultimately had to collect ourselves after a wait), my partner ordered the bara brith bread and butter pudding. This was simply a slice of bara brith served with a scoop of ice cream, which felt misleading. My pistachio tiramisu was a generous portion and enjoyable overall, although the pickled strawberries were not to my taste; fresh strawberries would have complemented the dish far better.Overall, the hotel is in clear need of refurbishment and improved attention to cleanliness and food quality — particularly a stronger emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Sadly, this experience fell far short of what we anticipated. This place has so much potential, it's such a shame it isn't having the TLC it deserves.
Fantastic view. Lovely clean room. Breakfast very good and the staff were very friendly and hospitable.
Nothing springs to mind.
Very comfortable bed. Big room, lovely building with a lot of history. Free parking. Was allowed an early check in as room was ready. Great food on evening and breakfast. All staff very friendly.
Bathroom smelt of mould and mould stains on ceiling. Leak on one of the front windows. It was very heavy rain. The swimming pool was quite small and had quite a few children in there playing so couldnt have a proper swim. Jacuzzi was also crowded at the time we went on a saturday. No hairdryer in room, have to contact reception to get one. Surely these could be given to every room.
The best bit by far were the staff. I stay in a lot of corporate hotels and what sets the Manor Hotel apart is the way you are treated. It doesn’t feel forced in the slightest and you genuinely are welcomed from reception through to breakfast.
Nothing to say really
The two ladies,, Susan and Hannah we loveley , polite , hard working , cracking sence of humour and a genuine pleasure to meet .
Unfortunutly , the Kitchen was close for most of our stay , so no hot meals or cooked breakfast until the morning of departure . However , the loveley Susan, drove to collect our take away , also offered us some complimentry free drinks to ease the inconvevience which loveley Hannah served with a smile ., no such luck of any offer of a complimentry drink or any option for for food the following evening .(Different staff)
Spacious room, good location, staff wonderful
Water was limited (spring fed only!) so no hot breakfast or evening meals and shower weak. Pool was filthy, green walls, water cloudy, bits in the bottom, floor dirty around it and in changing rooms and slippery. Wifi didn't work.
A very relaxing short break, friendly staff and a good leisure facility. Really enjoyed the restaurant food and good breakfast options.
I was arriving late in the evening and the communication beforehand with Charlotte regarding entry to my room was very clear and concise. My room was warm and comfortable. It was a great location for me to attend a local event with ample parking outside. An interesting
The breakfast menu was lovely and the two choices I had were fine, however the table with choices of cereals juices etc could have had a bit more choice on and perhaps a jug of milk and a pot of sugar (there was one but it was sugar lumps) for the cereals would have been great, not a criticism, just an observation.
Messed up with our book From the off, so not good to start , after sorting that out, the Wifi not working all the time seemed to have a problem with connectivity . Shower in both our rooms was terrible no water pressure and just dribbled with water , the room fan was so noisy we had to leave it switched off, It all looked a bit tired , Not really what we had hoped for , Swimming pool was green so no one from our party went in. so I can say we were all a little unhappy.
Staff were great could not do enough for us, all way seemed happy to help. very freindly and helpful, Breakfast was very good and fresh, Great Location for Mountain walking. great views for the hotel.
The location was perfect.Staff were brilliant, especially Harriett. Made us feel so welcome. All food was great, loved the breakfast.
Very dated and tired.Poor WiFi Low water pressure in showers.
Reception had to find replacement room as ordered twin
Pool changing room cramped no lockers and shared with fitness no where to put clothing without getting wet.
Beautiful setting and good facilities. The leisure suite was a major plus pointThe Christmas decorations were splendid and the whole place had a very cosy feel.Breakfast was good though not all of tge items for the full Welsh were available
Our room was a little tired looking but hard to complain when the views from it were spectacular.
Wonderful view from bedroom window at front of property. Stunning Usk valley.
WiFi poor
Very comfortable and Friendly. The hotel is set in a country location with amazing views. On this visit they had Christmas decorations up and the hotel looked amazing. The rooms are all a good size and comfortable. The hotel also has a pool and gym. I found the pool Sauna and steam room a great extra. Very good food.
The Wi-Fi was not working in the rooms.
The welcome was very friendly Car parking was easy .Beautiful lication
One night wasn't long enough
Great weekend stay. Staff very attentive and helpful. Evening meal very good
Cooked breakfast was small in terms of portion size - e.g. one small sausage, one medium mushroom, 1 rasher of bacon.
