    Pros +

    • Staff very friendly and helpful,Lovely location,Breakfast very good.
    • It's a smallish building but many people were there for dinner, so it felt lively and was very welcoming. We arrived late-ish (8pm) and were pleasantly surprised that dinner was served (on a Thursday) until 9pm. Everyone who worked there and was a patron were very friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night and had to leave early, but the room was clean and comfortable and loved the charm of the pub next to the church.
    • room we stay in was a good size

    Cons -

    • Google maps likely will lead you to a building on the other side of the street. Follow the signs for the inn!
    • food wasn't good and they didn't have much on the menu. out in the middle of nowhere not shops close.
    • The only thing I would have liked differently was the bathroom which was across the corridor and a bit impersonal by contrast to the room but it is an old building and not designed to accommodate en-suite.

Really charming little place, in a beautiful location, close to the Elan valley. The staff couldn’t be more accommodating and friendly to us and our Labrador. The room was clean, very cute and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and could take our dog with us, which just made the whole trip easy and trouble free. If we come back to this area we wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Harp Inn again and would highly recommend it.

Fantastic! Perfect weekend away. Lovely walking and so peaceful. Perfect hosts, great food and a beautifully decorated and filled bedroom. I took my dogs and it was very dog friendly. Hope to go back again soon.

The only thing I would have liked differently was the bathroom which was across the corridor and a bit impersonal by contrast to the room but it is an old building and not designed to accommodate en-suite.

It was beautiful in a fantastic location with fabulous c& wonderful attentive staff. For us it was a random bookin a random location, but boy what a treat. The couple are new to the business, but have already made an impression . & hopefully it will be a success for them. ( they made that much of an impression)

The owner/management team could not have been friendlier, likewise the front of house. Menu was varied and the food and service were excellent.Slept like a log and woke to the best view imaginable.

Excellent food, might be pub food but good fresh ingredients cooked well. Superb home made chips.Welcoming staff and hosts. Lovely location and building of great character. Excellent beer and even a sunset!

    Everything met or exceeded expectations

Great atmosphere, location, nice restaurant downstairs, helpful owners. Plenty of parking.

Floors are extremely creaky, every step at night filled me with a dreadful guilt. The road to this place can be a little much for the less experienced traveler.

We had the room at the top of the house, the view is amazing. Quiet surroundings. Lovely old church nearby with a friendly cat. Comfy bed with a cozy blanket on top. Delicious homemade granola for breakfast.

No reserved parking spaces for guests so when returning from our day out on Saturday early evening, we had to squeeze in between neighbours entryways not ideal when you're paying a lot to stay there and if you have a large vehicle. Hairdryer was pithy, take your own. Take your own shampoo as the one provided is body & hair wash, no good. Breakfast options were limited; fruit & yoghurt, cornflakes or granola and cooked full English comprising of one of each bacon sausage egg etc no offer to adjust breakfast. It probably wouldn't be a problem if you ask but we were in a rush and nearly didn't get a breakfast because the breakfast chef was late, he turned up just in the nick of time at 8 o'clock on the dot. Hosts didn't host. They were uninterested in meeting our needs, on the evenings especially as it seems they just sit in the pub with their friends and drink the night away. The first night we were their only guests and upon requesting some more milk and sugar for the room I was asked which room we were in. Bath was not clean first night so we used a hand towel and bath soap. Second night we were expecting a clean bath after having the obligatory 'turn down service' my partner asked for a cloth only to be ignored, having to ask 3 times and raise his voice above the hum of the crowded bar. He was handed a used cloth from behind the bar and again used bath soap and the filthy cloth to clean the bath.

First of all, as you approach the Inn, you are instantly wowed by the incredible setting and view - such a beautiful and peaceful spot. All of the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The room was spacious, and very clean and comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast there, and all meals were delicious - especially the hand cut chips and onion rings! We are looking forward to staying there again soon ?

Fantastic staff, nothing too much trouble. Very welcoming. Food was excellent. Gorgeous cooked breakfast. Rooms really comfortable. We would recommend if visiting Hay on Wye in rural location, elevated views.

    All brilliant

A beautiful location, with stunning views across the Radnor valley to the hills. The inn has lots of character & history and serves a very good breakfast and dinner.

Due to the old nature of the building (creaking floorboards/ uneven floors) there was a lot of noise when guests walked around in the room above, but otherwise a beautifully peaceful location

The location and views are stunning. Comfortable and cosy rooms and our hosts were fantastic. Thank you for an amazing stay!

    All perfect

Location and local pub setting ? Food was very good and staff were friendly and interested in guests.

I could have done with somewhere to set suitcase on, but it is an old property, so furnishings were inkeeping. Nice touch with bathrobe as our bathroom was separate to our room.

This is a beautiful inn with great views, set in a very quiet countryside location. Food was really good - dinner on Friday night was very enjoyable, and breakfast on Saturday morning was absolutely excellent (not to mention with horses outside the windows to add to the view!). The room was lovely, clean and comfortable, and the whole place is so atmospheric. I love all things medieval in any case, so a stay in a fifteenth-century building was a huge plus for me. Everyone was very friendly too, including the other guests.

It would be helpful to have a shower curtain or guard around the bath - it would just be easier to rinse off without worrying about getting water all over the floor! Otherwise, there's nothing to say here: I liked everything!

    Nothing really

Liked the character and the people were very friendly.

The heating did not work on the first night which meant that we did not want to be in our room. However this was sorted out the next day.
