What Stay! Left out in...

We travelled from Manchester on New Years Eve, arrived to check in at the time Montclare advised us, when we made the booking.The whole place was in darkness, we rang the doorbell, no answer, we called the hotel numerous times, no answer, we left a message on the ring door bell but we heard nothing from them. New Years Eve with no accommodation. A simple cancellation email would have sufficed.To our surprise the following day we were advised by Booking.com we were a "no show" ?? Really?? We had to go back to Manchester because we had no where to stay, a 4 hour round trip on New Years Eve for nothing. But it's OK, they had waivered the cancellation fee.

Location was perfect .Breakfast was not included .But that wasn't a problem as we were aware of this when booking our stay .

Everything was ok

The location was exceptional.

The bed was uncomfortable, and because I have mobility problems, I couldn't get out of the bed without help.

Great location

Considering it was a family room for 4 people, it was really small. accessibility issues as only stairs and no lift.

Excellent, very comfy bed, very clean throughout, great location, and lovely friendly staff. And great having a fridge in the room. Fantastic!

Great location with great views of town & seafront from bedroom

The 4 poster bed was lovely and comfortable. The room and bathroom were clean

The water only got to like warm in the shower but the towel warmer was a nice touch

Fantastic location. Really clean and comfortable. Close to pier and seafront.

The bath was a little tricky to use because the shower screen seemed to be in a fixed position. Just a minor issue.

The location of the hotel is very good, the room was very comfortable and spacious, enjoyed the weekend.

For what we wanted there wasn't anything we didn't like

The location was ideal, close to the promenade and yet, close to the bars and restaurants. The property itself was in good order for its age. I liked the four poster bed, which had a comfortable mattress, with plenty of pillows. The hot water took a couple of mins to become hot, but understandable with the room being on the 1st floor. The shower was lovely once the hot water came through. Harpers restaurant served good coffee and tasty cakes. Shame they did not offer a breakfast.

The toilet seat had a crack in it (no pun intended) which could do with replacing (room 8)That was the only niggle.

It was clean, was in a great location and our bed was quite comfortable.

Only a very minor judgement, was that the reception area was not manned during the day and you had to visit Harpers Cafe bar if you needed assistance.

Nice rooms, nicely kept communal area. Great communication, great location.

Better quality tea and coffee would have been nice. Breakfast wasn't provided (which I knew in advance) but it would make this a really nice place to stay. Even a breakfast box as an option would be nice, doesn't need a sit down option.

Great location. Accommodation was clean & comfortable. The family room was spacious & nice bathroom with plenty of hot water.

Downside was the family room was on the third floor & no lift. The tea/coffee & milk in reception could do with replenishing more often. These were however minor issues.

Great location and lovely views of the promenade. Room was comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Blinds and curtains could do with replacing

Overall good. Great location. Helpful staff. Room was good. TV worked. Plugs and switches were in logical/helpful places. Shower was clean and felt recently renovated.

Quite expensive for what we received. Sounds stupid, but the coffee mugs were a bit small. Just meant you had to boil the kettle twice. Shouldn't be too much effort to provide more suitable mugs.

Great view. Lots to do around.

It is a bit dated and needs a re-fresh in parts but it didn’t affect our stay Drawing under the top bunk needs cleaning off Didn’t affect our stay but only saw 1 member of staff when checking in

Excellent location and the bed was exceptionally comfortable and a king size bed.

The only issue was the parking availability which is beyond the hotel control
