    • My mum and I stayed one night in the Box Cottage. From check in to check out we loved every second. The staff were brilliant, so friendly and helpful. The cottage itself was perfect, much bigger than we expected, and it was decorated for Christmas which was a lovely surprise. The dogs loved it too. Parking is right by the cottages. Easy access into Conwy. We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment, but I'd recommend that you book in advance. We will definitely return in the future. Thanks so much!
    • We had the cottage, which was very sweet and had everything we needed Very classic decor Lovely big bed
    • Nice staff, pretty place that is quaint and well kept. Clean spa.

    Cons -

    • We had dinner at hotel, it was ok but very mediocre, menu was very basic.Dining room was very stuffy with no atmosphere. We would stay in the cottage but would not dine again. The spa was very dated .
    • Expensive, £1k for one dinner and a two night stay.
    • There was nothing we didn't like although I would've liked an iron and board, despite the ironing service, especially when considering the dress code in the restaurant. Also some bins near the walks and outside the cottage would've been good.

The surroundings are tranquil and relaxing with great walks from the door leading to some amazing views. Our cottage was exquisite and very comfortable. The Spa is beautiful with a great pool and very friendly and professional staff. Dinner was fabulous - the quality of ingredients stood out as did the skill of the Chef to create a gorgeous meal.

Beautiful hotel, in a lovely setting. We had a warm welcome at reception and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The hotel also had beautiful gardens.

    Fantastic facilities, tremendous gardens, friendly...

The evening dinner could have been better. Having stayed and eaten at both of the other National Trust Hotels, we felt that the evening dinner at £75 per head did not match the evening meals we experienced at the other hotels.

Peaceful, remote, excellent quality with every need catered for, including my coeliac requirements .

No anti slip mat in the bath, but I loved everything about this property

Beautiful old building that’s been preserved and still has its original features. Felt like a country house stay in days gone by. The staff were exceptional. We loved our cottage in the grounds and that our dog was welcome

The spa felt a little tired and the refreshments were very expensive and not very imaginative / healthy for a spa

    10StuartPosted on: 2-10-2025

Loved everything. The house was lovely, clean and the food great. We stayed in one of the cottages and that was comfortable, clean and warm. The grounds were beautiful - even in February!

    massively over priced I will...

staff were clueless about wine - this is a very expensive hotel - I expected morefine dining below par

Really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful old home with lovely views and walking areas. The dining was rather expensive though and the cottage we stayed in needed an update.

Beautiful property. Reception staff and restaurant staff were lovely, massage therapist Roisin was so kind and made me feel welcome and comfortable and did an excellent job

Value for the money isn’t great, especially the food. Some staff were rude, came across stand-off ish and made us feel like we were being looked down on

The staff were wonderful. Food ok.

The engine room was very noisy from cottage above. Cars outside were coming and going lots on noisy Gravel , i’ve been to better and much less payment

Wonderful view of Snowdonia from our room, peaceful and beautiful gardens. Relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff and guests who were also appreciative of the historic location. The weather was bright and sunny so that made a genuine difference to our appreciation of the local area,

Minor niggle - the spa was some distance from main building so that was a little off-putting.
