- Beautiful Hotel with great ocean side views and friendly staff! Great price at a slow time of season. Awesome visit and want to go back!
- We stayed in a superior king room, where the size of room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the breakfast was great in quality and value. The shower was super, with great water pressure and quite spacious.
- decor was great bed was comfy and still got in at 5am which was great definitely be back
Cons -
- The hotel is super expensive for what it is. We stayed in a superior king room, 108, and it was at the back of the hotel (although booking.com's description of the room stated that it had a sea view!). The room is overlooking the pub, where there was a live performer booked in on the Saturday. The noise is significant, and it goes on until about 1 am. We were not warned and would have changed rooms if we knew. The room was scorching hot too, there is a little window, but it can't be opened fully. The staff gave us a fan, but the hotel really NEEDS to invest in air conditioning. Outside of the one window in the room, there is a plastic roof that bounces the sun off, which glares so much that you have to pull the blinds down, which makes the room way too dark. It wasn't a great comfort for a superior king size, and the price for 2 nights for £391!!! It was dark, or blinding, HOT, uncomfortable and super noisy!
- No elevators. Street parking little challenging.
- Theres only three meal tables overlooking the sea, the rest at the back.

noise coming from kids in the next room but stopped before 10 o'clock at night
Lovely decor fab staff
Breakfast was a bit overcooked. Room was quite small
Staff friendly, food was OK, pizzas way to much garlic, breakfast was good.
I paid £250 for one night easter prices. But I would not consider this a hotel room as such. The room was one of two located at the top of a metal fire escape over looking the smoking area and beer garden so was nosey. On arrival the room was stone cold. I turned the thermostat on the wall up as advised by reception and we decided to leave the room for an hour to let it heat up. On return the room was still stone cold so I checked and it was turned off at the radiator valve which I turned on. So we left again to give time for the room to heat up again. I would discribe the accommodation as a converted outhouse not a hotel room as such. Having said that the room is decorated to a good standard with a large bathroom. I would not recommend for a family room due to its location. Whilst the accommodation wasn't worth the money and the heating issue the staff were friendly restaurant was nice and the wee bar next to the restaurant was charming and cosy.
Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Large Ulster fry our first one. Very good but quite greasy as we are used to grilled breakfast. I suppose we should have expected this as it was an Ulster fry not an Ulster grill!
Very noisy; however I guess we should have expected this as it was on the promenade! Unfortunately the Mourne mountains caught fire during our visit so lots of fire engine sirens! Unfortunately we actually arrived on the day of a charity motorbike ride so there was more noise due to this. Probably when there is no bike ride and no fire there is much less noise.
Absolutely delicious Irish breakfast and beautiful room with sea view. So comfortable and the staff are charming.
Nothing at all!
Great location with views of the sea and mountains. Well decorated and clean.Great breakfast. Staff are friendly and efficient.
No access to main bar area as hosting private function
A bit pricey for a one night stay. Alcohol quite expensive. Food was lovely although breakfast could have been better with asking guests how they would like their eggs ie soft hard etc
Took mum for her birthday! Hotel is in a perfect location on the promenade, the donard carpark is located directly behind to leave the car! Staff were attentive, down to earth and good service all round from hotel to bar! 10/10Cocktails were to die for tried multiple variations from the menu all were 10/10Food we had fish and chips honestly value for money and flavour was amazing actually perfect and portions were massive 10/10The place has everything, super boujee our room had a sea view and comfy beds we loved it! The pub and beer garden is a super edition, Taylor Kerr the musician was super really added great atmosphere!
Beautiful hotel and room in a great location. Room was spacious and had everything you would need. We will deffo be back, Many thanksRebecca and Scott
Great location
The bed was to firm and pillows very thin. The bathroom could use some hooks for towels near the shower.
Hi there so we booked this hotel for Saturday night past. I thought from your advert that it was a sea view only to be told on arrival you’d to call and ask for one. When we were taken to our room, it was 13 degrees and freezing, very uninviting. It was the girls first shift on reception. She kindly told the manager who brought us a bottle of Prosecco. It was very cold and the view was out onto a yard. The corridor stairs leading to our bedroom were dusty and dirty, not one days worth down the side of the staircase and the hall way was freezing. We sat with our coats on at breakfast, no music and not given a menu; although the couple beside us were. When checking we had all our belongings, there was a layer of dust under the bed and a used VAPE.
The heat of the place, cold on arrival, said housekeeping must have forgotten to turn it on. Breakfast people at the neighbouring tables all had coats on, no music and not very atmospheric.
This was our first stay at The Avoca Hotel. We were greeted with a warm welcome and showed to our room, we had a super king-size bed it was sooo comfy. Room were spotless and spacious, tea/coffee kettle hairdryer etc and a really great walk in hot shower. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel both were delicious! Highly recommended the mussels and large fry. All the staff were so friendly and a pleasure to meet. Will definitely be back.
