    Pros +

    • Always enjoy a stay at The Lion. Great location, good value for money,
    • Traditional feel, great rooms, comfy beds, super breakfast. Staff were friendly and very accommodating!
    • Superb Location and Excellent view from our room

    Cons -

    • I think it should be hotel policy that guests are dressed for breakfast. Allowing adult guests to have breakfast in the dining room in pyjamas and dressing gown isn’t acceptable. I mentioned it to a couple of staff members who agreed with me. We had dinner in the hotel for the first time. Two nights. First night the Indian meal was very good - we complimented the chef. But the second night it was awful. The staff didn’t seem interested that we’d not enjoyed our meal.
    • Water pressure was very lowRoom was cold
    • Breakfast on Saturday morning was not as nice a Friday morning when it was made to order and not buffet style

Great base from which to explore the North West of Wales - Ynys Môn, Eryri and coastal castles. Good breakfast with plenty of options

Localization, friendly staff, big room with sea and castle view and nice breakfast (photo).

The shower water is not strong, but it’s warm - ok ☺️

I loved this hotel. It was big, whilst cosy, and welcoming. It's in a great location, with a large car park to make things even smoother.

The dining room was a bit chilly. But it was December! And the service was without fault.

Price, location, breakfast, good sized room.

    A little bit dated.

    9HeatherPosted on: 2-15-2026

The location is a short distance to the beach. Handy car park for residents. Friendly staff. Smashing sea view room. Shops are just down the road.

Shower was a bit slow. Carpets needed replacing. Evening meal was lovely, but breakfast, although could have tasty, was luke warm as its a help yourself set up.

The location is perfect, rooms are okay, it's an old building so it is what you would expect, the table setting was really nice as well for dinner and breakfast as well

The service is not good. Staff are nice but completely disorganised and chaotic. On dinner we waited 1.5 hours between starter and main, which was essentially chips and chicken strips and lamb stew and rice, which was from set menu so most likely pre prepared. Not to mention drinks, just gave up after a while and left the restaurant to go get them to a bar ourselves as noone would come to the table for ages. It wasn't just us, everyone around us was the same with waiting for ages and not being able to find anyone even order drinks. There was more than enough staff for the amount of customers as well, big downside.

The staff were amazing as always. Exceptionally good food in the bar, the chef Subhro was amazing. Great curry! Comfy, warm, great value and great location.

Cant fault the hotel for the money.

I have stayed a number of times at this location and each time it has been a great stay, until the last time, which is such a shame will look at alternatives in future

The way breakfast is done has been changed since the last time I stayed. The hygiene of guests picking up items with their hands at breakfast not just touching every croissant and popping them on the side so the person gets 2 untouched croissants at the bottom of the basket. They then put all the croissants they don’t want back in the basket off the side and not using the tongs provided next to the basket. To the hot plate item (black pudding) being picked up with fingers that had been itching a male persons groin as he walked into the restaurant moments earlier, the hot items are then placed back with said fingers, again ignoring the implements that are there to help picking up items off the hot plates, It’s put me off buffets for life. I appreciate it’s cheaper for the hotel to put out hot items and pastry’s so people can help themselves. However ordering an English breakfast from the kitchen should also be an available option.

    The room was fine.

Saturday night 8:30pm, no food in the restaurant ?? Sunday morning, they had just replenished the breakfast buffet, fried eggs, sausage, hash browns, beans, bacon etc.. but was all COLD. I requested coffee, which arrived very quickly, but was just about warm. Would not recommend this hotel if you like hot food.

Very cosy feeling. Very welcoming and lovely, friendly staff. Dinner and breakfast was delicious we will be back to try Sunday lunch and other options on the dinner menu when we stay in morfa bychan during the season The views of the castle and sea from room 33 at the top of the hotel are fantastic

We stayed in room 33 and forgot to mention when we came down for breakfast that the shower basin was filling up and when I lifted up the plug, it was blocked, dirty and full of hair. Although we found a minor issue, we would definitely come back and stay.

    9PaulPosted on: 2-7-2026

Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent. Location was very convenient for the town and the sea view we had from our room was wonderful.Room was clean and comfortable.Staff very helpful.

    8MarilynPosted on: 2-6-2026

Friendly, good location and bar had good options for food.

Radiator not working when we arrived, room very cold and didn't really warm up. We fixed it ourselves after a fashion to get some heat but not particularly helpful over this. It felt like a window was open as we walked in, really should have been spotted before we arrived.
