Pros +

  • The location is perfect for where i needed to be to visit family and the view over the river is beautiful.
  • Great comfortable stay, good value for money, warm welcome
  • I would describe this hotel as adequate. The hotel is an old building, which must be a nightmare to maintain. The operators have done a good job of this, but my room was dark and a bit tired. Nonetheless, it was very clean and was cleaned each day Staff were very friendly and helpful Check in closes at 10pm, which was a bit of an issue for me as I was travelling from Scotland and wasnt sure what time I would arrive. Hotel managed to sort, but its handy to know if youre considering staying here

Cons -

  • The room was filthy. So so dusty, on the bedside tables, the headboard, the lamps, the desk, the wall behind the bed. The towels full of hair and brown marks i had to request more. The room was alot smaller than the one i had the first time i stayed, the bathroom, miniscule, felt claustrophobic using the toilet, closed in by the towels hanging over you. The shower is lovely but let down by the lack of a door protecting it from flooding the room, so then having to mop up the floor after you have showered. Lack of iron in room also. The restaurant is very dated, the walls filthy with what look like nicotine stains or oil stains, the tables are all sticky, cutlery filthy!!!! Bland food, the vegetables kept 'warm' by the overhead heaters at the carvery were so dehydrated! Sons food was forgotten about, i had actually finished my food before they even came to ask and then it was served cold, the excuse was there was no ticket with it, so didnt know where it was to go! We were sat at a table with a huge feather on the sill next to us, and a chewing gum!
  • Decor is a little tired
