Pros +

  • Good location, free parking, staff friendly and welcoming. Bedroom very clean and comfortable. Booking was at relatively short notice, and the price was really reasonable.
  • Staff carrying our luggage and bringing a jug with milk.
  • It covered the basics - the beds were comfortable if a little small, the biscuits were great and the bottled water was a nice touch. And our dog could stay with us (albeit in the converted stables rather than the main building). The car park was very convenient.

Cons -

  • Shower temperature was like heart surgery trying to find the exact precise point where the water wasn't glacial, or like the infernal flames of hell. Also the walls are paper thin, heard every word of the conversation in the adjoining room. Leaves you feeling slightly exposed, especially when this is a special 'date' weekend stayover.
  • It was difficult to unlock the door of one of the rooms. The floor was tilted in odd directions. The bathroom door had no lock. There was no breakfast. It was quite noisy early in the morning as the pub and local supermarket received deliveries. But... still quite charming, nonetheless.
