It was too expensive to add another one.
A NIGHTMARE HOTEL: DENIED CHECK-IN AND STRANDED WITH NO HELP
This hotel is an absolute disgrace, and its management should be ashamed. We had back-to-back, confirmed, prepaid reservations with no gap in our stay:+First booking: Dec 28 – Dec 31+Second booking: Dec 31 – Jan 1We were scheduled to remain at this hotel continuously through New Year’s.What actually happened:Due to missing a connecting flight on Dec 27, we did not arrive until Dec 28. After finally landing, we then drove an additional two hours to reach the hotel. It was late, we were exhausted, and we went straight to the hotel, planning to eat after checking in.Instead of being welcomed, we were told at the front desk that we could not check in due to an alleged issue with the number of guests on the reservation. We immediately contacted Booking.com, who confirmed the reservation and corrected the guest information through the official system.Critical detail:Changing the number of guests did not change the price at all. Booking.com confirmed that the rate was exactly the same for one or two guests, with no additional charge.Despite this, the hotel refused to honor the reservation and attempted to charge us more than $200 per night above the original prepaid rate in order to stay. This inflated nightly rate was not reflected anywhere in Booking.com, was not supported by any written policy, and was demanded verbally at the front desk only. No receipt, revised confirmation, or documentation of any kind was provided to justify the increase. When we refused to pay an amount that was never valid or authorized, we were denied check-in.Front desk behavior — hostile and unacceptable:That night, Jesus and Cesar were at the front desk.Jesus was openly rude, hostile, and dismissive, with a nasty and aggressive attitude throughout the interaction. He showed zero professionalism, no empathy, and no interest in resolving anything. His behavior toward paying guests was completely unacceptable.Cesar, who was introduced as a “supervisor,” spoke little to no
Friendly staff and excellent beach.
The stairs between lobby and beach level (where my room was) were tough.
Location was good.
The property was dated. It has seen better days, needs to be refreshed. The food selection and quality needs to be improved when compared to other all inclusive resorts.
It’s waste of money, I wish someone had told me before I went.
The hotel is really old and needs to be remodeled. I had to purchase and upgraded room due to how horrible the room that I had initially purchase looked. The entire place needs to be clean. The check in time was long and the bathrooms located in the lobby was so dirty I couldn’t even use it.
spending time with family
not enough personnel anywhere....the bar, the restaurants, the pool/towel services. The food was not good
Check-in was horrible. “Lukas” could not find my reservation and was unwillingly to help me rebook and I was with my elderly handicapped parents. I even showed him the reservation confirmation email and special request for early check-in. I requested a wheelchair or extra support for my mother for which they told me none was available. We waited for over 2 hours during check-in and we were the only ones there.
great beach
the check in experience and the general attitude of the employees
Overpriced and unorganized
Short staffed and the ones that were there working were not very happy to help you at allCheck-in was 3pm but only got my keys around 6pm, even though I did a “pre-check in” online 24h before and it said “you’re all set, come get your keys at front desk”Place is a mess, the people definitely didn’t want to be working there (I don’t condene that, I wouldn’t either ??♂️).
Beach was nice
Of the many resorts we have visited in different parts of the world, this is the first one where we did not feel welcome. No accommodation for early arrival, no hotel information in English language, not even a welcome drink offered. Instead, they try to charge you a $30 per person penalty for early check-in (without any room), or make you wait for 5 hours in the small, uncomfortable lobby area. Unacceptable! As it turns out, Decameron is a low quality resort, catering mainly to lower class Latinos with many children. This is certainly no place for English speaking guests seeking a relaxing athmosphere. There is loud music playing at every pool and in every restaurant (always the same old songs). The buffet-style restaurants are dirty and overcrowded, and the drink service is disorganized. Clearly, management and staff are unable to keep up with a large crowd. The quality of the food/drinks is only basic and the amount of food/drinks being wasted is absolutely insane. Nobody seems to care. The nightly entertainment is very disappointing and mostly in Spanish language (Bingo on Christmas day, seriously?).The bedrooms are of decent size, but our balcony door was broken. The minibar consist of an empty fridge. The bathrooms are small, in poor condition and not very clean. Face towels or facial tissues are absent. The water pressure in the shower is very low and the water temperature is impossible to regulate.Bottom line: The USD 390 x 12 nights we paid was a complete waste of our time and money. We will never stay at any Decameron resort again. Shame on Wyndham for associating themselves with this property.
the spa the ocean the fun pool activities, the non alcoholic options, value
the advertised free transportation to airport, not true, you have to pay 140. They also advertised paddleboarding and sailing. Only the kayacs were usable.
Staff was nice
Booked upgraded ocean view and the room was looking at the roof the the adjacent building . No view of water
The beach and ocean.
Checked out one day early. There were a few horrible things: Check-in, food was below average, bell boy service was extremely slow, lack of hotel service information (i.e., resort map, Wi-Fi log in information, schedule of activities, restaurants reservation) is chaotic, TV didn't work, long wait for room keys almost 2 hours past check in time, rooms didn't have towels or bath mats and delivery was long. Some staff were friendly and some were not. Plus rooms had less amenities than regular rooms. Facilities are not handicap or senior friendly. No priorities for seniors with respect to checkin lines or priorities seating for restaurant waits. Signing up for restaurants was also very disorganized with very long wait. To the point that we only ate at buffets.
Of course the food was, excellent! Good variety, tasty with good presentation. One food item that can be added is hot cereal, oatmeal etc.
I would like to see more organization during the mealtime. I was at the Decameron right after the COVID where it had to be more organized. And, it was very nice with people forming lines instead of bumping into one another & kids running back & forth. I think if it was more organized people would cooperate
1. The entertainers who perform in the nightly shows really put on a good show. The routines were really elaborate and highly engaging. Kudos to them for their energy and talent. I do hope they are paid well.2. The beach is quite accessible, clean and relaxing. 3. The buffet was good for the most part. However, sometimes the food was quite salty and could be more flavourful.I especially want to thank Henry G. (Salonero) and Cristian Q (Animador) for their pleasant disposition and for showing me and my mother kindness. Thanks to them, I had brief moments of feeling welcomed.
For an all-inclusive 4-star hotel under a brand such as Decameron/Wyndham Hotels, I found the following things quite disappointing and frankly egregious.1. No formal welcome or refreshment. We traveled for some time to get to the location. We arrived and no one greeted us, offered us something drink or pointed us in the direction we ought to go. No support with bags. If support existed, we were not informed.2. No towels (for face, body or floor). We arrived tired, sweaty and needing a shower but had no towels in our room for hours. And the floor was not properly cleaned.3. Language barrier - Hardly anyone at the resort speaks workable English. It's not unreasonable to expect some English at resorts, especially international chains like this one.4. Unhappy-looking staff - Having worked at a resort myself and being from a tropical island originally, I recognise when people aren't really enjoying their work and/or are underpaid or treated poorly. Staff there did not give the very positive warm energy you would expect from workers at a tropical beach resort. Smiles were limited/greetings you may get felt strained.5. HOMOPHOBIA - RESORT IS NOT GAY-FRIENDLY. The staff lack sensitivity training and some very openly show their disdain for anyone who is not demonstrably heterosexual. I experienced overt homophobia when a MultiVacations staff member standing in a group decided to mimic the sound of a gunshot as I walked by them (i.e. wishing me dead). I reported him to the guest services manager. She contacted his boss. They 'talked to him'. I saw him the next day and it was clear he hadn't learned anything. While there and non-heterosexual, you feel like you are the butt of a colossal joke. Other openly gay/lesbian guests I met felt the same. TAKE YOUR PINK MONEY ELSEWHERE!6. Very poor infrastructure. It is clear that the money is not being invested in what guests receive.
All inclusive food, pools, multiple amenities
I did online checkin and I had to do a big lane anyway, they didnt consider a lane for families with babies or people with disabilities
The show
We waited an hour for them to pick us up from the room to do the check out . We get there at 5 and they already close the restaurant and we went to get something to eat at 9:50pm and they already closed all the restaurants. I rather go to Riu hotel they have food all the time
