    Pros +

    • The staff were very helpful and professional
    • Best quality of service I have ever received at a hotel - the staff went above and beyond my expectations.
    • i loved the treehouse/jungle feel and how secluded the suites felt. i loved the wildlife viewing, the guided tours with Clarence were amazing, and the golf cart rides from top to bottom were fun. room and bed was comfortable, showers were awesome, bathroom and suite in very good condition and very nice. i love that they are actively working on conservation efforts regarding macaws. pools were awesome too. concierge services were overall accommodating but did lack follow-up

    Cons -

    • This hotel does not reflect the reviews or their star rating, I will not stay here again, much better properties in Manuel Antonio for the price.
    • Nothing!
    • food was good, but the restaurant staff were disappointing- as a supposed “5 star resort”, i expect 5 star service and we did not get that. we constantly had to chase down the staff for something as basic as a water or coffee refill. failed at refreshing toiletries without being asked, charged a criminal amount for laundry. they claim to be a 5 star resort but i would rate them at 4 stars at best

The property was in a gorgeous hilly nature reserve. We had our own personal concierge Jose who was amazing. From the moment we got there, through the entire stay he communicated regularly and took care of absolutely everything we needed, including booking tours, taxis etc. The food was excellent and the views and sunsets were stunning!

    Nothing!

If you are considering staying at the Gaia Hotel, go ahead and book the reservation. You will not be disappointed … this place is fabulous! The staff is very attentive and accommodating, the views are fantastic and you will see many animals on the property. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Gaia Hotel & Preserve!

The breakfast was amazing! The food was great and the view from the restaurant was spectacular. The service was excellent. The hotel offers a free guided nature walk of the property where you see all kinds of wildlife. My brother saw a sloth and her baby close up. They have a scarlet macaw breading/reintroduction program and you can see beautiful scarlet macaws. The hotel is situated in the jungle with over the tree top views of the ocean and wonderful sunsets over the Pacific.

The best staff ever. ! Very friendly and supportive Location was good , advise having a car if you plan on going out daily Restaurant was convenient with great daily breakfast offered

If you want new modern, this is not the place . It’s traditional architecture, but well maintained!

Perfect location, about halfway between downtown Quepos and Manuel Antonio. The hotel is on a scarlet macaw reserve (which you can tour, and ends with a fantastic ocean view for sunset) and you can tell they care about keeping the property natural and not disturbing the animals in the area. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the food at the restaurant was very tasty, and the views from the property are phenomenal.

Breakfast with amazing views. The coffee was delicious and the food was prepared nicely. The homemade breads and seasonal fruit made a great addition to start the day.

I loved having a personal concierge. Our concierge was Edmond and he was awesome. Anything that we needed or wanted Edmond was on top of it right away. Also the restaurant at the resort, was La Luna and the food was excellent, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner and the waiters Ricardo, Alessio, Tony and Abraham were great. Also the wildlife at the resort was awesome. We had monkeys, sloths, Macaws, big lizards and tiny frogs right outside our room. It was amazing to see the animals everyday. We also had massages while we were there and the view from the swimming pools and the restaurant were breathtakingly beautiful. I would recommend this resort.

    There was nothing I disliked.

Nice view from the balcony. Very friendly stuff. A loot of macaw birds around

The building and rooms are a bit 'old design'. Pools look in the pictures bigger and nicer

I loved our room, staff is extremely helpful and friendly food is great

    9MarjoriePosted on: 7-5-2025

The room was lovely; well furnished, with a comfy bed and a nice sitting area. The setting is beautiful and the personal service was terrific. The staff was really great! Our personal concierge, Gary, went above and beyond to contact us before we even arrived, to help us plan activities in the area, and to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They packed a breakfast for us when we left very early one morning, and even let us pre order breakfast so we could eat before we left for the airport.

The bathroom layout was weird. Long narrow, with two huge sinks and no counter space, but a lovely shower.

    8SoniaPosted on: 4-30-2025

Room was very spacious and well maintained. The most important: people working there were very friendly! And they will help you to spot slots and macaws

    10ToddPosted on: 4-28-2025

The hotel and staff were magnificent. We had made a mistake withour booking and the administrator/manager rectified it with no cost to us. Our Concierge, Jose Gamboa, was astoundingly responsive and helpful. We had a tour with Clarence who was the friendliest and most informative tour guide we've ever had. All in all it was a wonderful trip and stay. We especially liked the fact that the hotel is helping to bring Macaw's back from endangered status.

I honestly cannot think of anything to make it better. Maybe stairs along the driveway leading down to the parking lot but that is more of a "would be nice" item than something that is needed. The golf carts and staffs were always available to meet our needs going in and out.

This was the 5th hotel that we’d stayed in on our honeymoon Costa Rica travels. I can honestly say the stay from start to finish was the best I’d ever experienced. We were greeted with much help and a refreshment at reception. Our concierge, Catalina was extremely helpful and helped us with any questions/needs. The rooms, studios and grounds are perfect… the hotel has its own reserve with trails so wildlife is on your doorstep… beautiful to wake up to. All the staff are soo friendly and go above and beyond to help you with any of your needs… Johnny makes the best cocktails… Abraham is welcoming and helpful with luggage/golf buggy drop offs and pick ups. He is also informative for local amenities for travels. Although the hotel has everything you need and the food is out of this world… breakfast, lunch and dinner. Totally recommend the fine dining menu with wine to compliment each dish. We can’t thank Gaia Hotel and Reserve enough for our stay and we will look to come back and stay here again in a couple of years time. Thank you again, love Colleen and James XX PURA VIDA ❤️????

Location, literally a 5 star service offered from the staff, private concierge, ready to help for any issue or request.Food is good, service in the restaurant is great. The view is nice.

The fact that the hotel is VERY outdated and in the pictures looks like “ the ultimate luxury destination” which unfortunately it is not, because despite the service is 5 star, the hotel facilities are very outdated and need renovation. For this reason, the price they charge is too high and not reasonable. It would be reasonable if this was a modern well maintained hotel.Everybody is super nice and for sure you will have a good time, but things could be better in terms of facilities.

Beautiful surroundings. Support staff were always ready to help, very friendly. Breakfast was wonderful.

Personal concierge service was adequate, didn’t provide anything that I couldn’t provided myself.

    Amazing service, very friendly staff.

The pools are on the small side however not too bad as its a small hotel.

Outstanding stay, with thoughtful staff - particularly Jonny in the bar and restaurant, excellent service and THE BEST margaritas! - and great views.
