    Pros +

    • Very quiet place and the staff was very nice they were even able to help me out with some things
    • It is right next to train station and few steps away from Arashiyama bamboo forest, it was also a traditional Japanese room with tatami floors and Yukata, we enjoyed the onset and the Japanese breakfast
    • Right beside the train station- down the road from the bridge. The big bath was relaxing and clean.

    Cons -

    • It was very quiet and calm
    • The floor mats were pretty hard. This was our first time using Japanese style beds- so this might just be how they are- Also- we wanted to eat at the hotel restaurant but were turned away because we didn’t make a reservation the day before. This was not a huge deal, 2 VERY good restaurants right across the street.
    • Although my room was non-smoking, I was down the hall from the smoking room and it showed. Although they did have a air purifier in the room which helped. And they tried in the smoking room with multiple devices..still. It’s hard to stop that smoke smell.

The locations was great. The staff was great. My room did not auto-lock as expected and they were easy to communicate with about this. Safe regarding my luggage, and prompt in fixing it.

Although my room was non-smoking, I was down the hall from the smoking room and it showed. Although they did have a air purifier in the room which helped. And they tried in the smoking room with multiple devices..still. It’s hard to stop that smoke smell.

Breakfast experience Staff at the restaurant- very helpful and accommodating

No one at the desk early morning

A nice western-style hotel in Arashiyama, reachable by both the JR San-in and Randen train lines. The bamboo forest is just a short hike away and there are many restaurants in the area. The Japanese-style tatami room, public indoor bath and breakfast made for a great experience. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Luggage storage as well as booking a luggage courier service at the front desk both worked without a hitch. If you use the luggage courier service, make sure to ask the staff when is the deadline for bringing the luggage to the lobby. For us, it was at 10 am the day before requested delivery time.Note that there is a curfew after midnight.

    breakfast good, location excellent

It could not be helped but the Baths were reserved for group use when I was there. I was lucky to arrive just before that so I could use the bath at least once.

The location was great. Easy access. The room was spacious and the children enjoyed the traditional big bath and yukata.

There isn’t a shower in the room. It was ok for us as we enjoyed the big bath to share but it could have been better if there was a choice.

It was very close to the station, so that made travelling around kyoto easier. Good size room and bed

I didn't like the bathroom set up. The bathroom door had a gap underneath it and small area. Also nearly everything in the area closes by 5-6pm

Lovely room, very good location. Close to lots of attractions. Made a lovely display on the bed with a sign and some towels for my husband for his birthday, which was a nice touch. Great with communication!

Wish the onsen was outdoors. Was very stuffy being inside. Step in the bathroom was quite steep and the restaurant did not cater for vegetarians.

    10SelinaPosted on: 2-17-2025

Nice big rooms, we had three beds in our room which made it a tight squeeze but bigger than other hotels we’ve stayed in whilst in Japan. Clean and modern. Perfect locations.

Tiny bathrooms. Can’t use public bath with tattoos.

    8MyfanwyPosted on: 1-17-2025

Location to bamboo forest. Breakfast experience

No separate area to shower other than onset. If didn’t like it then no other option other than a towel wash

Love this hotel, second time staying here. Location is perfect, dinner and breakfast is great and staff is lovely!

There was a slight issue with the plumbing on the day of the checkout, no water would come out in the bathroom, and after a bit the water came but it was brown. These things happen, staff was super lovely and extended our checkout (even though we managed to check out in time) and got to use the onsen as a substitute even if it was closed.

Excellent breakfast set...Just next to JR station. The carport is very convenient and parking fee is included!

Would be better if have USB port or more socket.

    9JeffreyPosted on: 11-19-2024

Very comfortable and well equipped room. Right beside the rail line but with very good double glazed windows we hardly heard the trains. Pleasant and helpful staff and a short walk from Arashiyama attractions.
