Pros +
- From the front desk to the cleaning staff, everyone was friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, from helping with excursions to ensuring the kids had everything they needed.
- We had an unforgettable time at Rethymno Mare. The kids loved the water park, and we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Everything was within walking distance, and the views of the sea were breathtaking.
- Rethymno Mare Royal exceeded all our expectations. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the beach, and the surroundings are peaceful yet lively. We spent most of our time enjoying the pools and water slides, but the hotel also offered tennis, volleyball, and evening entertainment.
Cons -
- Extremely crowded at breakfast, lunch and dinner, long waiting lines to enter the restaurant. Out of 3 restaurants advertised, only 1 was open. The a la carte was open only on Friday, fully booked almost 1 week in advance. Food was low quality, dirty dishes, staff was insufficient. It looked like a student cantine, not a 5 star hotel. Actually two hotels are merged, Rethymno Mare and Rethymno Royal, with one restaurant.Drinks at bar were low quality, only open from 5 in the evening.Wifi works in the room only if the tv is on!Remote from any city (15 min by taxy, 15 euro), only one taverna across the street where you can eat.Definitely not worth the money, we paid 600 euro for a room with private pool. Avoid at all costs.
- restaurant staff are rude especially the manager, cutlery and plates were dirty we were B/B breakfast was under par more like a 3*, the room was nice but very dirty had to chase to get the bedding changed, in the main bed was broken so couldn’t be clean underneath properly, there was discarded rubbish empty cups, cans, and plastic water bottles in the garden area as you walked up to the main pool, paid £5g not Worth it If they get there act to gather it could be a nice hotel.
- The hotel was presented as 5 star or 4+ star and maybe it was 15 years ago. The water park was old and the kids got hurt running the slides. Most everything about the food was under all criticism.. The breakfast was not organised at all, lack of several standard items normal for breakfast. Some not tasty at all and the juice was not juice but soda without carbonation. Melons and other fresh fruits ran out. Bread was not fresh..Both lunches and dinners were messy and chaotic. There was only a buffet and most of it didn't taste good. There was no à la carte menu but only a buffet all evenings, no variety on the buffet.. Went away for both lunch and dinner most at least half time.

From check-in to check-out, the staff made us feel at home. The room was spacious and spotless, with a stunning sea view.
Every single staff member made us feel welcome. They always smiled, remembered our names, and checked if we were comfortable. That kind of attention makes a huge difference when traveling.
The pool was one of the highlights of the hotel. Clean, spacious, and surrounded by comfortable loungers, it was the perfect place to relax and spend hours under the sun.
Waterpark is nice for kids and the entertainment in the evenings.Private pool was nice.

Not satisfied at all and did not meed expectation's

The water slides and pools on the property are great for families with children.
This is an old hotel that has not been well maintained. It is advertised as 5-star, but lacks basics and service expected in a 4 star hotel. Rooms are only serviced every second day. There are not enough deck chairs for the guests. The restaurant seems completely overwhelmed and understaffed and most meals were chaotic with food running out and long queues. Roomsare basic.
The food
The service in the reception. In the booking it said check in at 14:00, which the first receptionist also told us, so first we waited half an hour since we came a bit early. At 14 a new receptionist then told us it was 15 due to Covid. We were then sent to the pool quite a walk away to find that we had to go back to the receptionist to rent towels. The bathtub in the room was not clean
Pool water would be nice if it was heated.
Very spacious, well designed room, with all amenities, luxurious bathroom, fantastic private swimming pool. Superb breakfast with variety of fresh produce. Friendliest knowledgeable staff I have ever met. Manolis, Mihalis have my warmest regard for their impeccable service.
The pool bar and beach bar offered us very tasty drinks and coffees. We had great times in the restaurant, where we enjoyed Mediterranean dishes. Theme nights with live music were organized perfect! Room was super nice with beautiful decor. Definitely I want to be back here.
Suite was perfect, spotless and spacious. The view from the balcony was a piece of heaven on earth! I have never seen a view like this. Huge shout out to all the staff who have provided us the best service that we can ask for. All staff being so attentive and helpful throughout our stay! Dionysos restaurant had delish food and wine. Everyone is so friendly and accomodating especially. I wish all the staff in the hospitality industry are like 'em. We will surely come back!
Excellent stay, suites were wonderful and staff amazing. Kudos to Chef at the restaurant who made amazing food and to bartender who prepared us extremely refreshing drinks. And acknowledgement to the manager who made us feel welcome. Will definitely come back and recommend to my friends and colleagues!
One of the best hotels in Rethymno, if not the best. Very delicious food, great and clean rooms, friendly staff and absolutely fantastic beach front location. Sports activities and hire service were top class. The superb pool was an absolute must see. Thank you for the excellent experience.
My friends and I went to this wonderful hotel for the first time and we were all amazed and impressed not only with the view but especially the good service we received from the staff. Special mention to receptionist and room service who were always so attentive to our requests and went above and beyond to serve us.
Pretty cool hotel, plenty of space, cold ac, nice shower, and acceptable WiFi. My room was super, nice and had a beautiful view to the poolside. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was attentive and very helpful. Sure, I want to recommend it without doubt.
Easy access to the beach, excellent services, awesome condominium hotel and water park, very friendly and polite staff. All was perfect here and I want to thank you for the amazing vacation I'll always come back.
Staff were amazing from when we first walked in to when we left.Highly recommend the rooms with private pools. Very relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend
Food could do with being a little hotter but generally a good variety.
