Cons -
- Horrible experience. Second night around midnight the owner came knocking on our door claiming we were too loud (my boyfriend was talking on the phone in the living room) but also he accused us of not being tourists but Tunisian instead (it is illegal for Tunisian couples to live together unmarried). My boyfriend is Arabic and I dont say much because of my hearing disability, but this guy refused to believe I am disabled. Oh well, I go through that all the time so I put on my hearing aid and go to them to apologize for the noise. Showing my id would have clarified this but he did not even ask. He was quite aggressive, though his wife at this point was still nice. So we then go to sit in the kitchen instead of the living room, which is on the other side of the house, away from the owners house, to make sure us talking wouldnt bother them anymore. Not ideal, but we want to be good guests. They respond to this with shutting down the WiFi and they came to the window on the other side of the house to yell at us that we are still being too loud. Apparently knocking on the door this time was insufficient to notify us, we were all the way in the kitchen with the door closed and couldnt hear them, so how the hell they heard us is a mystery to me... At this point it is starting to feel like harassment so we want to leave. They refuse us a proper refund so we stay one more night, needless to say we did not sleep well. Personally, I think if they want guests to make absolutely no noise after a certain hour they should have mentioned that in the house rules, but I could be in the wrong here. I was wondering if it was really about the noise, is it weird to want to stay up late with my boyfriend on our vacation? So I made some significant noise in the bedroom, directly next to the house of the owners, and guess what? Not a peep out of them.
